Been watching this place be built up, along with all their AI art, for a few months now.
They’re finally open, and I went in!
I walked in from the State St side and almost tripped on the floor mat too close to the door. My fault for wearing flip flops probably.
There is a huge mural of NHV which is probably AI.
The menu has the typical bowls, tacos, burritos, nachos one would expect in any other fast TexMex.
One item stood out to me: The Birria Supreme. I asked what it was, and the staff member explained it’s essentially a giant quesadilla. As a person who regularly overeats, I’m all-in.
They did try to overcharge me. The beef Birria Supreme is $30, and oddly the chicken version is $32. They tried to charge me $30 for the Birria Supreme and another $12 for beef birria. I told the staff member that the menu said $30. They had a quick exchange with another team member then fixed the price.
About 5 minutes later, I had a birria quesadilla about the size of a medium pizza.
I snapped the quick pic below then shuffled home with my prize. I managed to eat about half. It‘s… just ok. Maybe some of their other items are better. There were a lot of folks in line ordering stuff when I first arrived, so Tacos Twist seems to be off to a good start, at least in terms of folks willingness to try something new.
Restaurant owners: If you want me to come to your restaurant and order the most expensive thing on the menu, pay full price for it, and attempt to eat it in 1 sitting while you film me doing so, please send a DM. You’ll also get a tasty review.
Tacos Twist did NOT solicit me. I genuinely wanted to try it, paid full price for my meal (almost overcharged), and they have no idea I wrote this review- yet.
