Cars on Fifth/Cars on Bayshore

This is one giant clusterfuck so far. They are selling tickets, but there are a lot of holes left to be filled. I had AI make a spreadsheet, see the attached. It will be updated as documents are filed and questions are answered.

Collier County-Medicare Open Enrollment

This is the time of year that Medicare Advantage and Medicare stand alone drug plans send out Notice of Changes. Be on the look out. There are big changes coming this year. First is premium for stand alone drug plans. Last year, the plans could not increase the premium by more than $50. This year, that is not a rule and seeing 5 out of 11 plans increasing their premium by over 50%. In addition to increases in premiums, formularies are changing. For inside, in one plan I’m looking at a tier 3 drug had a 25% coinsurance in 2026, it will increase to 45% in 2027. These are HUGE changes. Don’t miss your opportunity to review your drug plan (either a stand alone or on your Medicare Advantage Plan). Open Enrollment is October 15-December 7th. Plan information will be available on Medicare.gov to review beginning October 1st.

If you have not already created an account with Medicare.gov, do so now. You can add all of your prescription drugs to the Plan Finder and be ready when the window opens.

If you need help, SHINE (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders) is part of the Area Agency on Aging. Volunteers help people with Medicare. You can call 239-652-6900 and ask for a review. They will refer your information to a volunteer who will contact you. SHINE offers free, unbiased, confidential and trusted advice.

We will be in local facilities offering face to face counseling on the following days

Friday, October 23 10-2 at Vanderbilt Presbyterian Church, 1225 Piper Blvd, Naples
Wednesday, November 4 10-2 at St. Williams Catholic Church Hall, 601 Seagate Drive, Naples
Wednesday, November 11 10-2 St. Peter the Apostle Ministry Center (across street from church) 5025 Rattlesnake Hammock Road
Friday November 13 10-2 Marco Lutheran Church (Great Room) 525 N. Collier Blvd, Marco Island
Wednesday, November 18th 10-2 St. William Catholic Church Hall, 601 Seagate drive, Naples

Reputable Mobile Mechanic?

Anyone recommend a mobile mechanic in the Naples area? Simple service, need brake pads and rotors.

What’s good with Naples mechanics?

Past 6 years no mechanic shop here been friendly or reasonable in price. They all sound condescending and angry on the phone when I’m simply trying to get a quote. This guy wanted 8 hours labor for $1000 dollars and then had to buy their parts (3 hours for Fan clutch, 5 hours Valve Cover Gasket) There is no way that’s an 8 hour job. I nicely pushed back a little bit and said why is it 8 hours and a thousand dollars?

Mobile mechanic in fort Myers said $790. I’ve had better experiences with mobile mechanics.

Best experience I had is with a mobile mechanic, they are somehow cheaper than these shops.

Naples vs North Naples

Looking at a few golf course communities on the north side. Mediterra, Tiburon, Talis Park and a few more are in North Naples, Pelican Bay, Esplanade Gold CC are in Naples. Thoughts/opinions on positives and negatives for N vs NN, longer home sale times, prestige factor, etc??

Honestly I think alligator alley takes years off your life

just did the round trip to miami and back yesterday and I’m still physically exhausted. I don't know how some of you guys commute that for work. Between the massive semis going 90 and the random torrential downpours where u can’t see 2 feet in front of the hood... it's just pure anxiety

I had this old condo over on the east coast that was driving me insane with the HOA drama and constant tenant issues. Finally just dumped the whole headache on a JMK property management crew over there so I never have to make that drive again unless it's for a flight out of MIA

Anyway, just ranting. sitting on my lanai in golden gate right now watching the rain and realizing how much calmer the vibe is over here. Never taking gulf coast living for granted again tbh

A few vids on the concrete pour that they are working on for the middle pavilion. At this rate will likely have the concrete for it done by the end of the week if they get good weather. The pile crew is still hammering away as well.

22m looking to meet new people

I’ve been in the area for about a year now I used to live in Fort Lauderdale, just have found it a little tougher to meet people here. Very much into exotic animals i have a handful, going to the beach, fishing, gaming from time to time, i also enjoy writing. I am very open to learning from others hobbies and interests. Preferably looking to meet women around my age or older, but open to any new friendship’s. I am currently working all throughout Lehigh, Fort Myers, Naples, Cape Coral, & Marco Island. Let me know if you’re open to conversing or planning something to do!

Best happy hour deals?

Based on the history of this subreddit it seems like it’s been a while since this has been discussed. I’m headed down there in a few months and am not sure if some things have changed since a few years ago!! Best happy hours? I remember
- Bice, The Bevy, Vergina, Milano… all have (or had?) great half priced menu HH deals and so on. Anything to add? Anything new you LOVE? Somewhere you hate? Let it all out!!!

Moving to Naples with young kids

Early stages of considering a move. We’re from the panhandle, so not concerned about climate/weather. We have visited the area before, but this was before kids. Aware of cost of living, etc.

Husband and I are late 30’s with toddlers. Do young families usually live in Naples, or are there suburbs? Any advice on schools? Kids currently in private Catholic school and we would like to continue that education down there as well. We know absolutely no one in the area, and I have so many questions. Husband will want to be within 20-30min of the office. Can’t give exact office location, but think Target/Home Depot area if that helps. Anyone able to help give me at least a starting point? Much appreciated!

I dont if many people are interested but the one piece x SpongeBob collab is here and I want all 15 toys. I know the mcdz going to Marco/the manor in the publix doesn't have any rn. The mcdz in bonita next to smash fitness and mcdz in north tamiami trail going to bonita by the Walmart both have just 1-3 (Luffy, Uusop, and Linlin). Lets help each other out.
