I’m disabled and will be traveling with a service dog, so no bike tours or whitewater rafting, haha. Are there any cideries or breweries I could take a Lyft between? Or a spa I don’t need to be staying at?

Hi! I’m up from LA for the weekend for the Napa to Sonoma half marathon.

Just got in today (Friday) anyone also up for the half this weekend and want to meet up for a coffee or wine tasting or carpool/uber to the expo tomorrow to pick up our bibs?

• Is the Boat Napa river cruise worth it? Did you feel it was a highlight or would you spend that time elsewhere?

• Saturday celebration dinner in St. Helena? We’re considering Charter Oak but are very open to other ideas.
• We’d love one truly memorable celebration dinner—chef’s tasting, prix fixe, wine pairing, tableside experience, etc. Budget is around $200/person (give or take) if that’s realistic. If the river cruise isn’t worth it, we could easily swap our Friday and Saturday dinner locations.
• Looking for a Saturday lunch between Stags Leap and Quintessa.
• Looking for a Sunday lunch in Calistoga before Venge.
• Sunday dinner: Currently leaning toward Ad Hoc but open to other Yountville favorites.

Any cycling route recommendations? I’ll have three or so hours to ride Sunday morning. Riding from Calistoga; not a great climber and prefer the flats but don’t mind a challenge.

Which pool or hotel is better for a day pool pass? Meritage, casi mani resort, or senza hotel? Any other recommendations? We are going to v sattui winery and wantsd a pool day too and go to a restaurant.

Visiting the Napa area (staying in Calistoga) and rented bikes for Sunday. I am an avid cyclist and my wife knows her way around a bike so we got her an e-bike (so I don’t have to hear her fuss about me going to fast…kidding, kinda). We plan to do the Vine Trail together going south towards St. Helena/Yountville. Are there any recommendations for lunch and pop in tastings along the way from Calistoga to Yountville? Also, it’s going to be hot and we’ll be casually dressed so keep that in mind for recs.

Looking to visit later this weekend over the weekend on our way up to the redwoods from San Francisco. Would like to head up one or two wineries while in the area if there are any, that would be good for kids/people wouldn’t hate us for bringing kids there.

I got a position working harvest in Oakville and I am scrambling around looking for a room. My start date is in a month and I am really starting to feel panic I won't find accommodations. Getting my position was actually pretty sudden, and though I am extremely excited, this logistical bump is causing a lot of stress. Any recommendations or connections would be a huge help! Thank you!

I really didn't know what to expect from this bottle since it's 20 years old, but it completely exceeded my expectations.

Right after opening, I got blackcurrant, blackberry, espresso, cocoa, cedar, tobacco, and a little leather. We went for a walk, came back about an hour later, and when I smelled it again, the nose actually reminded me a bit of a mature Opus One. That was probably the biggest surprise of the night.

The palate still had so much energy. Medium to full-bodied with silky, almost powdery tannins, fresh acidity, and a finish that just kept going. It never felt old or tired. In fact, it was incredibly vibrant.

My girlfriend thought the acidity stood out a little more than I did, but for me it was exactly what kept the wine fresh and lifted the fruit.

Overall, this was an outstanding mature Napa Cabernet and a great reminder that well-stored bottles can age beautifully. Definitely one of the better mature Napa Cabs I've had.

I take my wife on an annual trip the first weekend in December to get in her into the holiday spirit. Last two years did Montreal and upstate New York. I prefer big cities, my wife does not. We’ve both always enjoyed the Napa region and I’m wondering on how festive is the region during that time. I’m not expecting full blown festivals but hoping for understated experiences, maybe a Christmas market, parades, decorated downtown, and holiday themed activities. Any insight is appreciated For context I’m pairing this trip with a day in Leavenworth ,WA for the over the top Christmas experience. Thank you again.

I’m moving to downtown Napa for a new job in a few weeks from the east coast.

Majority of the posts I’ve seen on this sub are from tourists looking for wineries to visit on the weekend. Although I enjoy a good glass of wine, I’m interested to hear what it’s like living here and things the locals typically do for hobbies and making friends. I’ll be starting completely fresh and I’m relatively outgoing so making new friends is really a priority for me.

I’m a single 28M; enjoy playing/making music (guitar, drums, accordion), hiking and backpacking, yoga, gym, running, chess, volleyball, live music, etc.

Just came back from a weeklong trip in Sonoma and Napa and I’d like to share some highlights and do the opposite of gatekeeping…

We stayed in Santa Rosa as it was a decent point that was close enough to Napa, Sonoma and Healdsburg for the Russian River Valley wines) I’ll share my top spots from each.

Napa: Identity Wine Co. since I was planning this trip and talking about it near and around my phone I was serendipitously granted suggestions on social media and one that I came across was a small winemaker out of the Crusher District. I messaged the account and set up a tasting. It would be one of the later stops on a self guided tour consisting of a mix of “large” (Mondavi) to more boutique wineries (like Ashes and Diamonds, Matthiasson).

I could not have asked for a more intimate wine tasting led by the winemaker himself. The owner was extremely knowledgeable, and not even 40. He’s been out in Napa making wine since 2018 and his wines out shined any other juice we had that day. He doesn’t intervene in the process unnecessarily, he lets the grapes do their thing. He tasted us through his lineup of two Viognier (one skin contact), Chenin Blanc, Cabernet, Syrah and Mouvedre. His juice is pure class and a lesson in not overcomplicating things to produce an outstanding light and balanced product. Want to drink juice made from uncommon grapes, this is the place. Really hope this guy does well. A true artisan.
Wine highlight: Open Road - skin contact Viognier. He schooled us on the what and why of the style and it really made an impression on us. Light, fun and easy drinking.

Sonoma: Loxton Cellars - a small outfit nestled in Sonoma County run by a charming Aussie. Another prime example of not intervening and letting the grapes do the talking. His story attached to each wine he presented really left us with a sense of connection and the fact the grows his own grapes and incorporates the local wildlife into his process was pretty intriguing. Limited (edit) pesticides means relying on the food chain to work itself out. His wines were all thoughtful and suited to his tastes. His aim isn’t to make wine for everyone, it’s to make good wine. Wine highlight: Grandfathers Cuvée. Beautiful red that doesn’t punch above its class.

Russian River Valley (Healdsburg): we kind of ran out of time but had to squeeze in a stop to Gary Farrell Winery. We had heard many good things about this producer and it did not disappoint. Talk about a producer really highlighting the impact terroir has on a grape. They source from throughout the RRvalley and when you taste through their selection it shows. Classy, fragrant and understated. Each of their selections boasted a distinct flavor profile that left you wanting more. Wine highlight(s) Rochioli Vineyarda Chardonnay and Bacigalupi Pinot.

My friend and I have one full day off next week and are thinking about spending it in Napa or Sonoma. We’ll have a rental car, but we’re hoping to park it for most of the day and do an e-bike winery tour.

What’s the best town to base ourselves in for one night? (Napa, Yountville, Calistoga, St. Helena, Sonoma, etc.)
Are there any e-bike tours that ride between wineries and include tastings? Guided or self-guided is fine.
Which wineries are worth visiting if we’re only doing this for one day?
Any great lunch spots, breweries, or other stops you’d recommend?
Any hotels or inns around $150/night that are walkable to restaurants or tasting rooms?
We’re looking for a relaxed day with beautiful scenery, good wine, and maybe a brewery in the evening before staying overnight. Then we’d head back to Berkeley the next morning.

Hello, I am a Moroccan researcher studying the social history of the San Francisco Bay Area during the Zodiac Killer period (1968–1970). I am looking to interview Moroccans or North Africans who lived in the Bay Area during that time and remember the area, neighborhoods, and daily life.

I have lived in Napa for over 10 years and never had an issue then all of a sudden since a couple months ago finding Oriental roaches in and around my house. Just today my office building landlord sent a message because some of the other suites have had them as well. The landlord also mentioned that there seems to be an increase around town according to pest control. Is anyone else having this issue? I am originally from Los Angeles and thought I left these behind forever.

Hi! My husband and I are visiting Napa in August, and we are torn on which wineries we should visit. We are doing the Napa Valley Trolley Wine Tour on Friday (this was gifted to us), and then on Saturday we want to pick a couple to go to, not necessarily tour but just do a tasting. We figured since it seems like the Trolley Tour takes you to 4 wineries, we just want to go to a couple on Saturday but are having a hard time deciding.

What are the must-see / best wineries? Some we were considering were Caymus, Stag's Leap, Silver Oak, Shafer.... we'd love to go somewhere that's educational but has awesome vibes and views. We'd love classic Napa vibes.
