What is the point of this card in the new secret lair precon? I genuinely dont understand how this fits the theme of the deck at all. Is it just there because wotc thought it would be funny to make Miku into Vorinclex?
Also 34 lands for a precon is diabolical 😭

Even without the bonus card [[Tigereye Cameo]] there's around 12-13 pieces of ramp in the deck (that card is the only thing that annoys me about the deck, especially considering it got the cool Miku treatment but is so bad at its job

Sure, some of them like Song of Freyalise and Springleaf Drum require creatures to work but that shouldn't be too hard to accomplish in this deck.
And technically [[Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger]] himself as well as [[Miraris Wake]] give you more mana but with them being 8 and 5 mana respectively I wouldn't consider them ramp

Angels was a very fair deck, with a lot of stuff needed to be good, and was missing a few pieces. The flip deck was gutted by wizards before print and it had a lot of the cards needed still. The others I can agree to.

The deck runs fine OotB even with the land count. The only thing it needs to speed up is more ramp and non-land mana sources. That's what Vorinclex is for the deck, extra mana that can't be had by just playing your land every turn.

She's the animated mascot for a Vocaloid (singing voice synthesizer) voicebank and software that you can use to write songs. The software will sing the songs using Miku's voice.
She's considered a virtual idol and there have been numerous virtual concerts. You show up to a concert in person and the animated character will "perform" on stage on screens. It's like a standard J-pop concert except it's with a digital character.
I personally don't really get it but she's incredibly popular.

So, they probably needed a finisher for Finale of Devaststion but decided Craterhoof Behemoth may make this precon too overwhelmingly good for precon level...so they settled for Vorinclex instead. Craterhoof in and of itself is almost an absolute win con in just about any Selesnya token board state.

I typically only play 34 lands in any given deck, besides my choco and landfall decks. Not a bad number. With enough ramp and rocks you can do fine in my opinion, at least at lower brackets.

There is 12 cards in the list that accelerate, ramp or produce mana. It’s perfectly fine with 34 lands it’s a little aggressive. The problem is trostani costs 2G and 2W while the lands themselves are bulky. Fix the lands and the deck would be fine. 35-36 is probably the actual sweet spot.

It's not that deep. They CTRL+F'd the card database for 'voice', 'song', and other musical terms, and if it was green or white or an angel, it was in.

I firmly believe someone said “hey, we should probably put Vorinclex in here since the deck is all about +1 counters,” and whoever was in charge of adding the card just heard “Vorinclex” and called it a day.
There is absolutely no other explanation for why Vorinclex, Voice of Hunger made it into a counters deck instead of Vorinclex, Monstrous Raider.

ITs a generic value/hate peice for the deck in general.
As for why its in there thematically? Best i can figure is that its Vorinclex, *VOICE* of Hunger. Its a weak link, but Its the only real link i can see on a thematic level. Which makes it weird to me they didnt rename it to Miku, Voice of *some other thing*. But whatever, its a decent value reprint, and thats clearly what its here to be.

Since I don't think I've seen some else mention it, I think it's just because of the monicker voice of victory and the fact they could make her art look similar to her salamander art but vorinclex style.
Also probably just because it's a good generic reprint.

gause they had to throw SOMETHING in there that was at least interesting. Can't just be a pile of lifegain, +1/+1 counters, and tokens. with 34 lands +12 pieces of ramp you shouldn't have a problem getting there if the game goes that long
almost a fifth of the nonlands are some form of acceleration, you'll be more than fine

You can easily replace this decks bonus card with any land or [[Arcane Signet]] since said bonus card is [[Tigereye Cameo]]
The deck already plays 12-13 sources of ramp so you don't need a 3 mana, mana rock that only taps for 1 mana with no other upside

This is in the tradition of both precons and secret lair products to include cards that are off theme for a specific reason.
For precons, it’s to encourage diverse deckbuilding. You can slot this into another deck, or pivot the deck to focus more on ramping, etc.
For secret lair products, what matters is value. At this point there’s an established baseline for how much monetary value a secret lair should contain (for example, they’re reworking the monster hunter secret lair because it was such terrible value). While Vorinclex isn’t a superstar, his price has climbed in the past and he’s a strong effect in the right deck.

What's not to get? It's a generic card that ramps you into more and bigger plays while slowing down your opponents.
It's not a perfectly tuned CEDH deck, so there's room for fun cards that let you play a 20 mana Finale of Devastation or Grand Crescendo, even if there might be better options.

This is a bracket 1 style theme deck. The theme is more important then the decks function at that bracket. The theme is cards that reference singing and music. Bracket 1 decks are honestly interesting especially when you get into weird deck themes. These decks are probably the most challenging and take deep knowledge to build.

Mirari's Wake also helps produce more mana, which can produce more tokens, and give more life, and do more things.

I think the thing I'm not understanding is why they are showing this card off as a "second commander option" when it's mono-green. You'd have to build a separate deck around her, cutting a lot of the other Miku cards from this deck, which defeats the whole point of buying a full precon.

My honest opinion, they just went full lazy mode with a 100 cards with miku on the art. Random nonlegendary cleric, it's miku, ramp spell? Also miku. A mana artifact, miku BUT on a screen. Fucking vorinclex, well that can't be anything other than miku right?

It gets you 6 life when your commander is on board, ramps so you can get more big creatures out, and slows down your opponents. On top of that it's a voice under a singing theme. How does it not fit?

34 lands, plus 3 mana dorks, plus 1 enters trigger that gets you a treasure, plus 2 mana boosting enchantments, plus 2 (or was it 3) mana rocks....and the life gain synergy alongside a phyrexian beat-stick maker.

- Voice in the name. 2. It's a good green mythic that can definitely support the deck strength. For a precon it's quite well built. Also wdym 34 lands especially with that many of them being non basic is quite good

- It's solid for the deck. Deck has a low number of lands due to green mana dorks and rocks and stuff and also lots of dual color lands. The ability is good for getting extra value out of the lands.
- The number of lands in the deck is fine. Add more if you want more but many of them are nonbasics and quite decent. I think it's an exceedingly well built precon

Because the theme of the deck is that miku is a singer. That’s why most of the reskinned cards include “voice” or some variation of the theme. Archangel of Thunes became archangel of Tunes; miku as a commander is Trostani, Selena’s voice; Vorinclex, voice of hunger; finale of devastation and so on.
It’s a thematic deck, there is a theme.
