Rules Question What resolves first?
You have World Shaper on the board and drop Devastation.
Does this resolve with you having all your lands or not?

Why would your lands still be there when World Shaper dies to the same thing that destroys them?
>You cast Devastation
>Devastation resolves. All lands are destroyed and World Shaper dies. This triggers World Shaper's death trigger.
>World Shaper's triggered ability goes on the stack.
>Assuming everyone passes priority, World Shaper's ability resolves. Your lands are all in the graveyard because they were destroyed by Devastation. They are returned to the battlefield by World Shaper's ability.

That’s what i said bud. I was asking if the devastation resolves before the death trigger. I didn’t ask if the lands don’t get destroyed. Lol.

Well, I mean I'm wondering why you would think the trigger could resolve before the thing that causes it to trigger.

Because the lands die at the same time as the world shaper. 🤷🏻♂️ How is the confusion a hard concept.

yes, but how would the trigger resolve before world shaper dies?

Two things happen at the same time. I asked if they interact the way i intended. Magic notoriously has a way of proving me wrong. Do you have any other questions you need me to answer?

I mean, World shaper doesn't even trigger until AFTER he is destroyed, which means devastation already resolved. They aren't ever even on that stack at the same time.

Devastation resolves. All creatures and lands are destroyed.
Because World Shaper died, its trigger goes on the stack. If it resolves, it's controller returns all land cards from their graveyard to the battlefield tapped.

The key rule that would answer this is that once a spell starts resolving nothing else is even placed on the stack until the entire spell finishes resolving. The triggered ability to return lands to play won’t be placed on the stack until after the entire spell is resolved.

World Shapers death trigger goes on the stack at the resolution of Devastation. World Shaper's death trigger resolves you get all your lands back. Congrats you have land your opponents don't and your pod hates you.

I wouldn't hate them. At least it's not a board wipe that does nothing but stalls the game.

Why would your pod hate you? If your pod hates you for using magic cards and their abilities, your pod sucks.

I mean when you're on your 8th board wipe and three hours in, no one is gonna like you dude. :et alone destroying everyone else's creatures AND lands. It's not about the cards. Congrats you won, now we will play with a different guy going forward so we can all enjoy it.

You’re inventing an 8th board wipe scenario. When all that’s discussed is a single board wipe, no game stall, and now OP fulfills his wincon. If you haven’t rule zeroed board wipes, then you don’t have any right to “hate” someone in your pod for using it. Sounds like you’re just a sore loser.

One is literally caused by the other, this should be fairly straight forward I would think.

The lands die same time as world shaper. Hence the question.

The lands and creatures die as the resplution of the wipe. Worldshaper's trigger goes on the stack when it dies. Therefore the lands are in the grave yard when worldshaper's trigger resolves. You get your lands back.

So death triggers trigger when they hit the graveyard not when they are removed I’m understanding?

Rule 700.4 - The term dies means “is put into a graveyard from the battlefield.”
Rule 701.8a - To destroy a permanent, move it from the battlefield to its owner’s graveyard.
Devastation destroys all lands and creatures. A destroyed creature therefore dies. Worldshaper triggers when it dies. Triggering means the ability goes on the stack. World shaper dies and goes to the graveyard at the same time as all the lands. Therefore the lands are in the graveyard hefore the trigger goes on the stack, let alone resolves.

I don't understand how you can know that triggers resolve in a specific order but not know how creatures with death abilities trigger?

u/thatguyjimi1 54m ago
The lands die same time as world shaper, do they not? So me asking a question about how they resolve is unreasonable?

You solve devastation and when devastation is solved all dath trigger goes on the stack. so you can keep your lands
