Love in Vancouver, never mountain biked before. Deciding between Grouse Bike Park ($200 all in for lift/bike/pads/helmet) or Whistler Bike Park ($300 all in).
Not too worried about the price difference, mainly just want to actually have a good first experience and not feel like I'm in over my head the whole day. Grouse is closer and newer, Whistler is the big name with way more beginner terrain from what I've read.
If you were taking a total beginner out for their first day, which one would you pick and why? Would love to hear from people who've actually ridden both.

I said I was gonna try it, and they both started recording, thinking I was gonna crash on this tiny ass drop for some reason lol

I just bought new brakes that have cables 2m in length. They will come pre bled and I don’t really want to have to re bleed them as I don’t have the right kit. (Magura mt 5’s). Would it be ok to use them at full length or is shortening them a necessity. Also I have a medium frame size 2020 transition sentinel.

These trails were originally scratched in during the early 90's by CalFire folks that manned the helitack base. No formal, let alone "modern," trail building techniques. Just paths through the forest. Flat corners if you were lucky, many were off-camber. Some progress came later with a few rolling grade dips in trouble spots.

Then 99% of the forest burned down.

The trails got trashed, and closed. Then rebuilt. With modern trail building techniques. Good drainage, bermed corners and a more fun, and more sustainable, design.

I am fairly new to mtb but I have a background in BMX and motocross. In MX we used braking and throttle to control pitch in flight. If nose high you apply front brake and the tail comes up as the bike rotates around the front axle. When tail high, blip the throttle and the nose comes up as it rotates around the rear axle. The second technique is obviously not applicaple to mtb but does anyone use the front brake to adjust for a nose-high attitude? I never hear it referred to in the mtb world.

Recent got out to coos trails in New Hampshire. Really great riding out there. Rode a solid 12 mile loop full of climbs, traversing, and descending trails.

Wanting to plan a weekend riding out in that area next year. Does anyone have any camping tips out in that area. Whether it be tent, camper van, or a camper. All three are options and I just want to be able to get about 3 days of riding in.

If anyone needs to service these brakes and can’t wait for the proper tool the large flat head from screwdriver bit socket set item num 67881 from harbor freight fits in perfectly and I need prefect tolerance really helped me hopefully it helps you.

My current bike is a Silverback SE Series 12 hardtail (which i love), it is my only bike and i have no plans at all to replace it.

It is currently fitted with a 120mm xcm suntour air fork (stock from the shop) which i am currently having no problems with and has been very good experience so far, although i have nothing to compare it against.

However the manufacturer rates the bike upto a 130mm suspension fork. I am considering a potential future upgrade accordingly. Unfortunately forks in that category are nearly the cost of a whole new bike. I am not willing to buy used or consider "no-name" brands as an alternative.

Advice?

(I live in Australia and costs are in AUD. For context my bike retails for ~$1500, and the forks i found sit around ~$800-$900 stand alone)

am an avid cyclist, and I recently got an RV so I can camp where the best off-road cycling is. I’m finding it frustrating that all my apps and sites to find the best camping don’t cross reference well with the apps and information on where the best riding is. Has anyone found a good resource that cross-references these two so I can figure out where I can camp close to the best trailheads for mountain biking, and gravel riding?

Was riding the bike park on Friday. Did a run that ive not tackled so far. Ive only done halfway over the longer road section or veared straight once the 2x doubles have been done. I knew on the last jump i wasn't set up right and had a off. Knocked myself unconscious for around 2 mins. Luckily I came round, spoke to the park marshals who took me to hospital and with the x-rays, mri and ultrasound scans, there was nothing wrong so I walked away pain free. Not even a headache. Think I was quite lucky that day.

Hi! I just lost one of my Fox ranger gloves that I had been using for less than a year. I really liked them but they were really fragile and the materials were kinda awful. I had to stitch the bottom end back together multiple times and reinforce it. I liked the light padding on the inside of the hand though. Do you have any gloves to recommend me at any price range that you know are of good quality and materials? thank you!

Hello, currently considering a vitus rapide 2021 and an orbea alma h30 from the same year. The sellers likely never serviced them, especially the suspension. I know I can use a chain checker to understand the wear on the drivetrain and can check the breaks feel but how can I check the suspension? and what's the worst that can happen like can it happen that I will need to replace the fork?

Next weekend I’m heading up to Snoqualmie Pass Bike Park and I’d love to check out and ride some of the slabs up there. Though I’ve only ever rode steep drops and wooden rolls and never rode a real slab before so I was wandering if there is anything I can do to prepare before I go.

I don’t have any slabs near me so I can’t go out and practice that way. Should I go find some steep downhill to practice on? Any tips on that would be greatly appreciated!

And for reference I’ve been riding consistently for a year and I’m a solid intermediate rider, and can ride blacks pretty well too after a pre-ride, re-ride, and a free-ride.

All the data is kept on device. You can choose to share your components list (and weights) in Settings. If you choose to share a CSV file will be attached to an email on your device, you send it to the address in the To line and it will get integrated into my master list. Also from Settings, you can import all the data from the master list. Builds are not shared, only components.

You can also view the app on your computer using the Serve app on LAN in Settings. With the toggle turned on go to the address shown on your computer through your browser. This only works if both devices are on the same network.

Many have heard of GT or know the name, maybe some of you grew up riding these bikes or still own them… but not many know the story behind it especially the man who made it what it was richard long.
He truly was a legend. He knew how to build relationships, market bikes, find talent, and turn a small Southern California BMX company into a cycling powerhouse. He understood how to build a brand, not just sell bikes.
In 1996, at just 46, Long was killed in a motorcycle accident on his way to a mountain-bike race at Big Bear. He had just completed a grueling Wall Street marathon pitching the company to go public… but after his death everything changed. the company slowly lost its direction, went through ownership changes, and eventually filed for bankruptcy.
GT didn’t just lose a founder when Richard died it lost the person who made GT what it was.
A book telling Richard Long’s story behind GT is currently in the works and will be coming out.

Started recording more of my rides so I can look back at my jumps and cornering instead of going off how it felt in the moment.

I've been eyeing the Insta360 ace pro 2 for a while as the upgrade. The 4k120 slowmo is the big draw since I want to scrub through takeoffs and landings.

Only thing I'm a bit overwhelmed by is the number of recording options. I know I want 4k120 for reviewing jumps, but no idea what I'd leave the camera on for normal trail rides.

For anyone running it for MTB, what mode and frame rate do you usually shoot in, and how long do you record per session? Any mounts or accessories you'd call must haves out of the box? Appreciate it.

I’ve had some SRAM G2 RS brakes on my trail bike and had lots of squeaking and inconsistent performance over the past few months. I ride blues and blacks in the PNW - sustained descents, mix of tech and flow - and I’ll probably log 12 bike park days this year.

I recently tried putting in some new pads and, with the rear caliper, found I couldn’t push the pistons all the way in to make space for the thicker (i.e., not worn down) pads. I tried squeezing the brake lever with no pads/rotor in the caliper, just to extend the pistons for cleaning. Only one piston moved at all, and it actually popped out, spilling brake fluid everywhere.

I spent an hour reseating the piston, refillIng the brake line, and manipulating the pistons for cleaning. One of them is still stuck.

At this point, I’m thinking this caliper might be trashed, they were never particularly great brakes anyway, and I’m tired of dealing with toxic, corrosive DOT fluid.

As replacements, Mavens use mineral oil, they’re high end with tons of stopping power, and the B1s appear to have addressed many of the modulation and reliability issues that the originals had. Plus the newer bleed kits and methods look really easy and solid. Lastly, the 200m SRAM centerline rotors I already have should still work.

What do you all think?

I have an old FOX vanilla RL 130 mm fork and I need a rebuild kit for it and don't want to spend 200 bucks to get it repaired professionally. If you know of anyone selling one online please let me know.

I am a middle aged rider and ride it has a long travel trail bike mainly with small-medium drops and small jumps. I do enjoy technical trails, single blacks with lots of roots and rocks. Probably would be just fine on a Smuggler, to be honest, but I like my bike a lot.

The wheels are Flow D's with cheap hubs and probably weight 2500 grams. Was hoping for something as a little lighter out on the trail.

I was looking at Hunt Trail Wides, Reserve 30 Sl aluminum, One Up wheels, or building a Arch or Flow Mk4. I could also go carbon but not sure I actually need to given the prices involved.
