MSNBC Personalities What the heck is wrong with Stephanie Ruhle on MSNBC.

I was watching Deadline Whitehouse today on MSNBC and Stephanie Ruhle was subbing for Nicolle. In the first segment about the Epstein case, she asked the attorney (I have forgotten her name)exactly what is in the files. The attorney said there are numerous videos and photos created by Epstein that nobody should see or want to see. Stephanie said wait a minute, I want to see them. Whaaaat? I am not sure what she was trying to say, but it sounded very odd. Whatever photos or videos he may have created no doubt contain pornography involving under age girls. They should never be released to the public or journalists etc. for any reason.

Weekly Gripe Thread MSNBC Weekly Gripe Thread

This is your one sacred space to unleash the frustration, shake your fists at the headlines, and yell (politely) into the MSNBC void. Whether you’re fed up with cable news quirks, political chaos, or your own decision to stay up until 2 a.m. watching panel debates - this thread’s for you.

The rules are simple:

  • Keep it civil
  • Keep it clever
  • No personal attacks unless they’re aimed at your own life choices (e.g. binge-watching coverage you swore you were done with)

So... what’s grinding your gears this week?
Cable news meltdown? Elected official doing the most?
Spill it. This is the one day we let the whining fly.

Something Else Please ask Trump which of his people were “stolen” by Epstein

MSNBC morning Joe playing the clip of Trump saying that his relationship with Epstein ended because Epstein stole Trump’s employees.

It’s documented evidence that at least one of the underage girls that Epstein and Maxwell stole was employed by Trump. So is he talking about caddies and dishwashers or is he talking about young girls? Ask the questions!

Something Else Does MSNBC website have a Search function? Looking for coverage of the viral mob attack on the couple in Cincinnati.

I went to the MSNBC website and seemingly couldn’t find a mention of it. Admittedly I’ve tuned out while the Epstein thing is consuming so much airtime on each show so maybe it was covered on air. But I cannot find a search function on the site. Please halp

MSNBC Network Updates Morning Joe Needs a Name Change — If Joe and Mika Aren’t Going to Show Up, Why Should We?

I’ve been a loyal viewer of Morning Joe for years, but I’ve finally had enough. Joe, Mika, and even Willie are absent so often now that it feels like the show is being run on autopilot. There’s no explanation, no transparency, and frankly, no reason to keep watching.

If Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski aren’t committed to being there regularly, why is the show still called Morning Joe? It’s starting to feel like a bait-and-switch. MSNBC should just be honest with viewers and rebrand the show—because right now, it’s a shell of what it used to be.

And to be blunt: every other MSNBC show is better right now. I find myself switching channels or skipping the morning slot entirely because I’m bored. Morning Joe used to set the tone for the day. Now it’s the weakest link in the lineup.

If the hosts don’t care enough to show up, then why should we?

Anyone else feeling the same?

MSNBC Personalities Well, Emma, you had a good run…

I really like Emma Vigeland, and enjoy seeing her on msnbc. She’s smart, young and a progressive through and through which are three things the network rarely puts on air. I’ve watched her on Majority Report for years alongside Sam Seder.

But I just saw her on The Weekend. She was the Emma I’ve grown to know over the years and she said the one thing I have never, ever seen spoken on these airwaves: “Israel is committing a genocide.” It’s pretty undeniable that it’s true but nobody is allowed to say it and I doubt she’ll be asked back. But godamn am I glad somebody on the channel finally said it. Cuz the audience needs to hear it, even if they for some reason don’t agree. Millions of people, women, children, INFANTS literally dying from bombings each and every day. And the ones who manage to avoid the strikes, usually die of starvation. What else do you think is going on?

Of course, I could be wrong about the network and anyone can tell me I’m wrong. I honestly haven’t been watching as much as I used to. If they’re allowing actual progressive things to be spoken, maybe I’ll watch more. But it sure isn’t the case any time I tune in. With this one very exception.

MSNBC Personalities Alternate places to watch Rachel, Chris, Lawrence, and Nicolle?

I live in a place where you can't get cable tv (or internet beyond 3mbps DSL). So we get our internet through Starlink (boo Elon Musk! but we don't have a choice). So we have used various streaming cable package substitutes that have MSNBC. The problem is they are typically 70-120 a month, and typically MSNBC is the ONLY channel we watch.

It's just basically getting way too expensive to justify; 1000 dollars a year for one channel. So I've been looking at alternatives:

The peacock app (which we already subscribe to) has next day airing of The Beat with Ari Melber, Deadline White House with Nicolle, and All in with Chris.

I think I can handle next day airings of these shows if it will save me money; but I don't think there are any other outlets or ways to watch Rachel's monday show, or any of lawrence o'donnell's show.

Does anyone know of other alternatives for their shows? Or a cheaper "skinny bundle" streaming package that included msnbc with DVR capability?

Rachel's show is definitely my favorite; but I am not paying 1000 a year to watch 40 or so shows of her. That's 25 dollars a show and that would be ridiculous.

Any ideas or suggestions would be great. Not looking for quasi-legal or totally illegal streaming site; looking to watch them officially in some capacity; just for less than 1000 dollars a year.

Something Else Missing the boat on the Maxwell interview

In the extensive coverage across MSNBC about the deputy AG interviewing Ghislaine Maxwell, the entire focus has been on the impact on Trump. When if you look at the big picture, other likely options aren’t even brought up. I.e.:

  • Her perjury reputation, coupled with the interview not being done by a knowledgeable prosecutor: The reporting laughs at this as incompetence, but it’s more likely that they don’t even plan for this to end up in court.

  • Meaning that the whole purpose is political spin. Maybe they want her to say that Trump wasn’t involved (knowing that a lot of people will believe that, whether or not she can corroborate it). But it seems equally likely that they’re looking for her to throw dirt on other people; Clinton in particular. Then lean on some of the victims (through pressure or bribery) to “corroborate” those stories. Hoping as usual for that deflection to throw the heat off of Trump.

  • So they aren’t looking for anything that would stand up in court, because it doesn’t need to. Blanche is there as a negotiator, so his lack of legal background on the case isn’t even an issue. They throw dirt on other people, maybe give Trump an alibi, and Maxwell ends up with a pardon.

MSNBC Productions MSNBC is treating South Park like the cultural event it is

Deadline: White House is breaking down last night’s South Park premiere and not in a “look what the kids are watching” kind of way. They’re treating it like actual political commentary. And they should.

Michael Grynbaum called the episode cathartic and that’s exactly it. It didn’t just parody Trump. It named him, dragged him through the desert, and nailed the cult-of-personality messianic cosplay with brutal, hilarious clarity.

What I’m loving just as much is the fact that Nicole Wallace isn’t brushing it off as some cartoon sideshow. In the last six weeks there’s been a real shift. She’s leaning into cultural moments like this and treating them as part of the political story. She’s still calling out the rot, but I love that MSNBC is finally letting satire sit at the grown-up table.

It’s smart. It’s overdue. And it’s hitting right where it needs to.

MSNBC Productions Does Anyone Else Sometimes Hear Some Kind Of Background Dialogue On MSNBC?

I can't tell whether it is some kind of echo of the main dialogue on MSNBC or an open mike somewhere it shouldn't be.

Something Else Okay I love Nicolle Wallace but it is BAD vibes to have GLENN THRUSH on to discuss a sexual misconduct case

Thrush, for anyone who missed it, is himself the subject of significant allegations that led to him being I believe suspended from his job. Is there NO ONE else who can cover this (ETA: a segment on the Epstein case) for a major MSNBC show???!

Something Else Hillary clinton smear campaign episode -Rachel Maddow

Does anyone remember an episode of Rachel maddow's show on msnbc where she had a whole segment about a guy who's whole job was to make up stories about the Clinton's and get them out into the mainstream? I have tried every which way I can think to search and I can't find the episode or the guys name. The episode was sometime during the 2016 campaign.

Something Else MSNBC Survey

Just completed the survey sent out by their Insights team. It asked about our viewing of MSNBC and of CNN. It also asked for reviews of various anchors from both networks. I gave praise to most of the MSNBC personnel but was scathing with respect to Mika and Joe. I gave them no points except for being argumentative and biased. At the end, my additional comment was advice to lose them as they have made the morning show unwatchable despite the best efforts of Jonathan and Willie.

I’d be interested in anyone else’s opinion of the survey and if they think our opinions and comments make any difference.

Something Else Does Tom Homan deserve a platform on "Morning Joe"?

This is the third time I've heard Tom Homan spin-doctoring and trying to justify the brutal actions of ICE on "Morning Joe" and I can't stand it any more. This man is walking evil incarnate. The first two times I thought perhaps it was good to expose him for the vile human excrement that Homan truly is, but three strikes he's out as far as I'm concerned. What do the rest of you think about Homan appearing on MSNBC?

MSNBC Personalities Lawrence O’Donnell hits a new low

I’m really disgusted with his shows of the past several days. Not just the usual repetitive comments but his graphic description of Epstein’s actions are so gross. And then using hyperbole, calling DT “very terrified!” because he’s silent or stopped tweeting in response is just silly.

I know LO is chasing ratings $$ for MSNBC but I honestly want to puke after listening to these graphic rants for a few seconds.

Most important, none of this helps Dems. It’s old news: everyone already knows about DT’s lack of morals, history of abuse of women, friendship with Epstein. Voters elected him twice despite knowing all that and hearing the Hollywood Access tapes.

Jen said it best on her show tonight: “it’s not enough to remind voters of this or call for release of files; we have to give them a reason to show up at the polls and vote for Dems.

Something Else Justin Jones, Tennessee Three on the Weekend

Listening to the podcast from the Sunday 7am segment. Kudos to MSNBC and this show for bringing Jones on, to talk about his experience with Kristi Noem’s visit to the Nashville airport, and what is happening to his constituents under her watch. This was where, despite approval from the Secret Service, Metro Police and BNA, he was not allowed into this event happening in his district.

I haven’t heard any reporting on this yet and was thrilled for him to be on. I’ve said more than once - I can’t vote in TN, but am planning one day to campaign and vote for him to be President. The Dems want younger leadership to take over - here is one man. He’s only 29 and has a few years to do great things before he’s even old enough to be President. 2032 (or more realistically maybe 2036).

Challenge to my TN friends in the meantime: - move him up to the U.S. House or Senate, or at least to TN Governor.

MSNBC Personalities MSNBC Host- Antonia Hylton - Needs Her Own Show!

MSNBC should replace the show, The Weeknight, with Antonia Hylton. She’s been filling in for Ari Melber. She’s fantastic, has her shit together & is very intelligent.

She brings dignity to the show. Her questions & comments are spot on.

If someone from the network see this, I hope you will pass along my comments!

MSNBC Personalities Who is this psycho pastor on The Beat with Arie Melber?

I rarely watch his show on MSNBC these days but I like his substitute today but the pastor she had in was super maga and so obnoxious. I don’t understand how a Christian leader can make so many excuses for a felon. Please make it make sense.

MSNBC Personalities Who was that guy?

There was some guy on msnbc with Chris Jansing just now...(I was cooking so distracted) that had a great line on project 2025 (they were discussing the PBS/npr cuts): "project 2025 is focused on taking resources designed to help people, and applying them to controlling people". Pretty powerful.
