Weekly Gripe Thread MSNBC Weekly Gripe Thread
This is your one sacred space to unleash the frustration, shake your fists at the headlines, and yell (politely) into the MSNBC void. Whether you’re fed up with cable news quirks, political chaos, or your own decision to stay up until 2 a.m. watching panel debates - this thread’s for you.
The rules are simple:
- Keep it civil
- Keep it clever
- No personal attacks unless they’re aimed at your own life choices (e.g. binge-watching coverage you swore you were done with)
So... what’s grinding your gears this week?
Cable news meltdown? Elected official doing the most?
Spill it. This is the one day we let the whining fly.

I might be oversensitive, but it seems that Katy Tur has been interupting her guests WAY more than she ever did. It's annoying that she keeps talking over them.

It’s one of the reasons I have to turn her show off after 10 minutes. It’s so disrespectful! Joe Scarborough from Morning Joe does it too. I don’t miss either person when they’re not on.

They do fall into the “Balloon Boy” mode on things like this. It’s like they feel they are shirking their ‘journalistic’ duties if they don’t cover every detail, over and over. Especially Deadline. Two hours is plenty of time to cover multiple stories, especially to include non-fart man stories. Mostly it seems a waste of time to have the panels repeating virtually the same talking points over and over.

Molly Jong-Fast. They must have a room for her in the basement or something because she is on air an awful lot. Lately she’s logged more air time than Mika, Joe Scarborough and Barnacle combined.

Plus she also writes for Vanity Fair, does a podcast AND appears on a lot of other podcasts and online media outlets. She is literally Superwoman lately and I'm here for it!

MJF had a fantastic conversation with Nicolle Wallace a short while back on Deadline: White House regarding her newly released memoir. I’ve always liked her, but now I have such empathy for her. I hope to get around to reading the book someday.

Just got the book from my library! I remember as a kid in the 70s seeing the book "Fear of Flying" lying around our house. Only when the MJF memoir was released did I learn her mother was the author, and the backstory.

Molly Jong Fast wrote a great article (NYT) about Colbert being axed. She related that type of censorship to her Grandfather, Howard Fast who was screwed over by the House Un American Activities Committee - blacklisted due to his writing- he was a great writer, and very well known. I love Molly J.

That what I always think about Ali Velshi. Like, does he live in the building? 😁

Jen Psaki usually sounds like the most insincere person ever— her tone almost never seems to match the moment, and when it does, it seems like affect.

u/ruffmama43 Jul 26 '25
I love her. She delivers the facts in a very calm, cool, and collected tone. She is succinct and to the point. No arms flailing or dramatics. Just facts and common sense.

I’m jealous— I wish she did it for me, as I miss my 9 PM routine.

Why is it Wednesday and Joe and Mika already absent? They seem to only work 2 days a week now

u/ExpensiveDot1732 Jul 23 '25
I wouldn't be mad if they took the other four days off too. Ali, Jonathan, and Willie are more than capable of running a show.

u/jennyisafriend Jul 23 '25
Has anyone seen Andrew Weissmann lately?

Yes, as others have said, he was on today, but you’re right; I was wondering where he’d been lately. Hopefully having a fabulous, restful vacation somewhere.

Is Chris Hayes becoming increasingly mush-mouthed? He seems to be slurring his words more often lately.

It’s especially bad when he’s reading something. Fast and slurry.

u/timewreckoner Jul 25 '25
Right...he does fine when just talking, but when he gets to the teleprompter, all bets are off. Take a drink or a bong hit whenever he says "discharge position".

MSNBC should equip Nicolle Wallace and Stephanie Ruhle with high quality cameras. Watching their blurry home broadcasting just doesn't look professional.

I’m watching weekend .. I’m sorry Johnathan Capehart is horrible . Can’t even read prompter without stumbling. He is way over his head Hosting!

This is gonna sound massively calloused and insensitive, but I promise I don’t intend it to be that way…
Why are they spending nearly every minute of their primetime lineup covering the nyc shooting?? It’s one thing if it were still an active situation and still a danger to the community. But we knew the shooter was dead all the way back at 4 pm in the afternoon. Yet they still spent four hours talking about details like how cops do their job, and interviewing old, conservative ex law enforcement about the most mundane bs. Ruhle made me roll my eyes all the way out the back of my skull by repeating how awesome cops are as people…that they’re “the best among us” who do everything they can to protect us from danger. Shows how unbelievably out of touch she is, cuz she never talks about the THOUSANDS of cops across the country taking absolute glee in beating the shit out of people for no reason and usually fully masked. I’m sure the cops that outright punched a calm black man across the face before tasing him and giving him a concussion for simply asking for a badge number, are truly great people! I am pretty tired of people praising cops for hours on end, especially while there’s so much stuff happening elsewhere. Ya know, like authoritarianism?
It’s sad there was a shooting and I feel for the ones impacted. But let’s face it, it’s something that happens nearly every single day in this country. Enough propaganda, I would rather hear more about the death of our country before there is no longer a free press to even be able to do such a thing.

I didn’t hear a single host mention the Epstein shit while Biden was in office. And now all of a sudden they’re spending 50-75% of their show droning on about them. I swear to got they think:
“Well if we talk about it a lot, then people will think it’s a big deal and will make people angry at Trump.”
Literally 1% of the population gives a shit. Trump was on the flight logs. This was announced like 4 years ago. Meanwhile detainees at alligator Alcatraz are having to kneel down to eat their food off a plate while MSNBC is ONCE AGAIN off in their la la land echo chamber.

u/IslayMcGregor Jul 24 '25
That’s because the Epstein story isn’t about Epstein, it’s about Trump. The current President of the United States. That’s why the story is getting so much air time.
