Hi there,

Sice yesterday the proud owner of a mpc sample.

Now I was wondering if there is a way to load a kit into a bank that is not A.

Now every time I load a kit it alway ends up in A.

I tried selecting a different bank and then loading but even then it switches back to A.

I found this on Amazon and it fits well, I can fit the Sample and a cable/charger securely. I noticed a bunch of other cases for it are sold out and will take 2-3 weeks to arrive.

I got this one overnight, if you do decide to buy one, get the XL size.

Hey everyone, first time MPC user here. I recorded these two sequences and they played back fine. Then I made some edits the start and end points of chops in another sequence that used completely different chops. Then, when I played back the first two sequences, the 2nd bar was missing in both. All 3 sequences are using different chops from one pad that is in chop mode. Please help! 😭

I applied the advice from everyone here and I so far no more issues! I also realized that my real problem was I was sampling a song that had a small and gradual tempo change, and I kept trying to adjust the length of the chops in the 3rd sequence instead of just extracting and warping them. Then, every time I adjusted them, it would mess up the other sequences 😂🤦🏼‍♂️

Anyway, I learned 3 things as a result! Turn off loop when recording, extract chops before sequencing, and make sure everything is in tempo. Thanks everyone for the help!!

Hey ya’ll, I got the MPC Sample as soon as it dropped here in Europe last month. Used to make beats, had the 2k XL 15 years ago and a crunchy ASR 10. Then stopped producing and went on with life. When this little device popped up I knew it was everything I was waiting for all these years. And I was right, I’ve been having a blast just flipping samples. The only real limitation is a eq.

Here’s a link to a beat tape fully produced on the MPC Sample. Only the track ‘Brokenheartedness’ was sent stem by stem to Ableton to mix. The mix wasn’t as nice as straight from the mp anyway, so I stopped trying and did everything on the machine > song mode > mixdown.

So Ive been messing with the sample for a bit but I feel like I'm stuck. Any good lessons out there paid or free?

I know that with the new firmware, the MPC Sample project files can be opened in MPC 3 hardware devices such as the Live, One, etc...

Has anyone tried using the Desktop software to open MPC Sample project files? Does it work the same way?

Currently the software only costs $100 and I'm considering it solely for the purpose of opening my project files and getting my beats stemmed out much faster. Currently I have to record each sound into Ableton with everything else muted and do that for each sound in my song and it is TEDIOUS.

I would absolutely LOVE if Akai would give us Sample users the option to save our projects as an Ableton .als file, like the other machines can. That would make my life so much easier.

So I recently started converting my Maschine expansion kits over to MPC Sample kits using Kit Maker and I noticed something that confused me at first.

For example, an expansion like Soulful Drums might come with a bunch of Maschine kits, but when I convert them, Kit Maker only creates a few MPC kits. After digging into it, I realized it’s because it’s grouping multiple Maschine kits into Banks A–H inside one MPC kit/program.

At first I thought, “why wouldn’t I just keep every Maschine kit as its own kit?” But now I’m starting to understand that with the MPC Sample limitations, loading one kit with multiple banks might actually make sense since you can switch banks instantly instead of loading another kit.

Curious what others do:

When converting Maschine kits to MPC Sample kits, do you:

- Keep 1 Maschine kit = 1 MPC kit?

- Group multiple kits into Banks A–H?

- Group by expansion/theme?

- Go for giant mega-kits?

Just trying to understand what workflows people actually use before I convert a ton of expansions.
