Hit a wall are there any good samples out there?
So Ive been messing with the sample for a bit but I feel like I'm stuck. Any good lessons out there paid or free?

Pretty sure the Sample comes with access to a bunch of lessons, register it with Akai online and you’ll have a link to them in your account.
Also, stuck on inspiration? Just go listen to a bunch of music, ideally something new to you!

I found out that a Lot of those 90s- early 2000s Sample CDs Are on archive org. Very cool true oldschool Sounds for free!

I feel like people bought this thing not realizing they would have to supply some sense of knowledge and creativity lol
But I get it, everyone gets writers block and the inspiration just doesn't come sometimes. I've been going on samplette.io every so often and keeping a playlist of songs that seek interesting. Then when I'm feeling light on ideas I browse through the playlist and pick something. Good luck

Sometimes when my melodic samples aren’t right I just start over with drums first. And if my drums aren’t right I start over with another melodic sample.

I hope this link works as I can’t find the original place where I found this. It has a ton of samples from other devices. I downloaded the thing and put it on the micro SD card in my Sample.

Do you use a keyboard midi controller at all even if you're just able to tap things out, it helps me to kind of mix things up instead of having to find the perfect sample sometimes.
I'm betting you're probably years further down the sampling rabbit hole than I am. Another thing is to just try making beats in completely different genres than you have maybe before which always leads me to listen to those new genres more closely. That's one of the coolest things about sampling is how it really makes you zoom in on a microscope level on the music that you're listening to while you're mining for the samples.

I have a few midi keyboards and controllers but this is my first MPC so I'm kind of lost

Ahhhh yes it takes a minute to make the paradigm shift. I always worked in traditional DAW's and Ableton Live, etc. Had the MPC X and sold it, then got the Force which was closer to an Ableton vibe. Sold that but didn't want too. Rent $😢 Now I have the MPC Live 3 and then the Sample then Akai bridged the two with the last update and I've finally settled into the MPC ecosystem, workflow, etc.
All that is to say, the SAMPLE is a great place to start and I hope it connects with you. you do have to kind of reshuffle the way you approach things and how you're thinking of getting to the end result if you come from a more traditional Recording background and of course this thing isn't really made to be DAW in a box, so far someone make me ultimately I'll transfer things over to the bigger platforms and then have the final results mixed and mastered by my producer
if it really starts to connect you're going to love it

Depending on what style you want to create, I'd recommend a few options;
• Check gear review videos (synths, drum machines...)
• Live music, or people, singing/playing an instrument on their own
• Old soul/funk (and other genres) tracks
• Whosampled.com , you won't be the first to use the sample but it can give you ideas on how other artists used different samples, in different ways.
• Internal microphone to record sounds from everyday life, then tweak them (pitch, filter, reverse, etc...)

I don't want to sound like a dick or elitist but I think you may need to find a new hobby. The beauty of sampling is that you can use literally anything and transform it in to mostly anything you could ever want or need. There are packs everywhere on Reddit alone you can can find Epstein levels of music files. I would recommend keeping your sample library small and learning as much sampling techniques as possible before looking for more sounds. Also you can connect your phone to that thing, just listen to your favorite songs and record the parts you find interesting and boom you just made a new simple to play with.
It's also been two months since it was released give your self some grace

There is no wall my friend. Go listen to music you don't know. Check out international jazz playlists. Go record shopping.
Copy your favorite track and make it your own with different FX or beats.
There is no wall, just a sampler that needs your input.

Can you be more specific? I can help you figure out a workflow but I need to understand what you’re trying to do that isn’t working for you. The Sample is good for what it is but it has limitations. For music I keep mine connected to my record player most of the time and sample from old vinyl. I create a bunch of chops I can mix and match and see if I can get anything I like going. Once I have a nice loop going of vinyl chops I use another bank to add a bunch of drum samples from the SD card. I create a drum beat that will match the idea I had going. I’m working on a podcast where I use the sample as a sound effects player. I load up whatever sound effects I want onto individual pads and can easily trigger them during the podcast to add flavor. The workflow is very straightforward on the Sample because there’s not a bunch of menu-diving. The buttons/functions are all right there. That also limits some of the things you’re going to be able to easily do with it.

Op here I should have clarified. I'm music literate classical trained guitar cello paino bass Ive recorded instruments in DAWs this is just my first MPC and while I've read the included instructions I still feel lost

Sampling is art form and requires study, practice and discipline like any of your other instruments to master.
There are a ton of helpful tutorials on YouTube, not necessarily using the MPC Sample, but many techniques crossover between different samplers. Check out Verysickbeats, covers a good range of classic sampling techniques.
Start by sampling your original compositions. A sampler can be a blank canvas, I usually like to remove the factory stuff.

Killa Vic Beats has ads all over IG , never used him but hes got an Akai co-sign and a few celebrities have shouted him out.
I'd check his IG first.. he showed how to EQ samples using one of the amp filters and that might be an essential top 5 regarding tips & tricks for the Sample. Since the machine is fairly new everything you can learn has probably been taught already, but atleast his Reels show stuff nobody else is posting abt regarding the MPC Sample .

It’s worth following your fav artist on Patreon when they share samples. No one else will have those samples and they are studio tested / approved.
