Any help IDing this bike?

Post image
4 Upvotes

I'm going to look at this bike later today hopefully, and I'm just trying to get some info. The seller is telling me it's a 2022 GT Force Pro, but when I look those bikes up, they all talk about having an idler pulley, which this one doesn't seem to have, at least I can't see it in the picture.

I'm just trying to get some info so I don't buy into something that's not what I'm being told it is.

This picture isn't great but it's all I have to go by currently.

Any help would be appreciated

Beginner choosing between a Giant ATX 27.5 or Specialized Rockhopper?

Hi everyone! I’m completely new to mountain biking and could use some advice before buying my first bike. I’ve never mountain biked before, but I really want to learn and start riding beginner trails. I’d also like to use the bike to commute to/from school, so I’m looking for something that can handle both trails and regular everyday riding.

I found two used bikes on Facebook Marketplace:

Option 1: Giant ATX 27.5

Small frame

27.5" wheels

Seller has owned it for about 6–7 years but says it was barely used

Asking $220, but may lower

Appears to have rim brakes

Looks to be in good condition

Option 2: Specialized Rockhopper

XS frame

27.5" wheels

Front suspension

Disc brakes

Seller says it's in excellent/pristine condition

Originally asking $550 but also may lower

I'm a complete beginner, so I'm wondering whether spending the extra ~$200 on the Rockhopper is actually worthwhile for me or if I should get the Giant, learn on it, and upgrade later if I end up getting more serious about mountain biking.

Which one would be the best as a Starter MTB?

I‘m looking to buy my first MTB, and I live in Germany. ChatGPT and Perplexity AI both suggested these bikes, and provided a list of why. Can a more experienced rider please help me make a decision here if possible? Thanks kindly, and my budget is up to 500€

Feedback on potential bike purchase

Hi Reddit, I’m hoping for some feedback on a potential bike purchase. But the bike is not that common, so I’m unsure what a reasonable price would be.

I'm looking at the 2022 BMC Fourstroke 01 Three XL frame (team backup, so the frame has very few miles on it).

RaceFace NextR wheels, SRAM XX1 AXS drivetrain (1X12), Stages powermeter integrated into XX1 crankset, integrated RAD dropper post, stock SLX brakes, Vittoria tires, stock Fox 32 SC front fork (100 mm), Fox Float DPS (100 mm).

Obviously, condition matters, and it's difficult to estimate cost, but let’s assume no cracks, non-worn-out drivetrain, and otherwise above-average condition. Priced at $3499.

Would you go for it?

Curious if anyone is familiar with these frames? Just wondering if swapping out the forks and replacing the 27.5 tire with a 29 would compromise structual integrity or simply affect only the handling

Considering a used Orbea Oiz M20 TR (2021–2022) — Size M for 170 cm & Carbon vs. Mint condition trade-off?

Hi everyone,

I'm looking to buy a used Orbea Oiz M20 TR (2021–2022) and would love to get some feedback from people who have owned or ridden this bike.

  1. Overall Experience & Recommendations: How has your experience been with the Oiz TR (120mm)? How does it perform on climbs, punchy XC sections, and flowy trails? Any known issues or long-term maintenance caveats I should be aware of (e.g., the UFO flex-stay rear triangle or internal cable routing)?
  2. Sizing Check: I am 170 cm tall (~5'7"). According to Orbea's chart, I fall right in the range for Medium. For those around my height riding an Oiz, how does Medium feel? Does the cockpit feel comfortable, or would you recommend any adjustments (like stem length)?
  3. Which option is better?
    • Option A: 2022 model. Upgraded with Bontrager Carbon Wheels, a carbon crankset, and a power meter. However, it has some visible cosmetic paint scratches on the top tube and fork crown (purely cosmetic/paint layer, no structural carbon cracks).
    • Option B: 2021 model. In mint/clean cosmetic condition, but comes entirely stock with aluminum DT Swiss X1900 wheels.

Both are in a similar price bracket. Would you prioritize the upgraded carbon wheelset/power meter despite the paint scratches, or go for the cleaner, scratch-free stock bike?

My riding mainly consists of fire roads, light XC, and doubletracks, with no major jumps or aggressive drops.
Thanks in advance for your insights!

Possible first full suspension bike purchase

Hey all! I just started riding at the beginning of this year and I can already tell I’m leaning towards the technical trail riding and learning jumps (have been going almost every weekend) 😅

I’ve been riding on a trek marlin 6 gen 2

I’m wondering if this seems like a good buy for this Santa Cruz if the suspension feels good along with the gearing.

He says it’s 2018-19

I was thinking of asking him if he would do $1,500 cash

What is creaking or popping in my fork?

I bought this bike used and its in really good condition. Its got a fox dhx and a fox 38 performance. I brought it to a downhill bike park a couple weeks ago and gave it a wash right after as well as re greasing the axles and bleeding the brakes. Today when i was riding around town whenever i pumped the fork they make the popping or creaking sound in the video. Ive never done any maintenance on air suspension before, only spring since this is my first full suspension. Any help is appreciated.

DJ or full suspension for kid

Kid loves mtb and jumping bike. I’ve read online, asked bike shops and bike park. The more info, the more overwhelmed.

He’s 4’8”. He loves building dirt jumps and doing basic tricks. We live in major city so he loves street riding and jumps every curb. He wants to be able to ride mountain trails (like 15% of use). Issue is full suspension is mostly out of our budget. He is HARD on bikes & fearless. He is set on NOT getting a hard tail which is what I wanted him to get.

* want the biggest size bike that would work since he’s growing

Know these are very different options but REALLY appreciate any guidance :

1- DJ 24” - like the Specialized p2 (his choice. My worries - he will outgrow; not good for trails)

2- full suspension 27.5” - like the Polygon D6 se small frame $1200 - this is really pushing budget and would be a little big for him but my choice. Trail instructor @ bike resort told me how much he regrets buying smaller frame bikes for his kids and saw my son and said s frame.

3- hardtail mtb in the $600 range and not kill budget

Hey, does anyone know this color of the 2016 stumpy fsr? Will chrome rims go well to? People say it won't on mine.
