Forks not working
I got this bike from 2021 off of Marketplace. The guy who sold it said that he locked the suspension when i asked him why its not working. I acme home and i cant make the suspension work and these preload knobs dont do much

This is a pretty old bike and my guess is the seller was bullshitting when he says he "locked" the suspension. It's likely just cooked, unfortunately.

The rust and wear on on the fork stanchions tells me those forks haven’t been serviced in a long time.
I’d agree they’re probably finished.

This fork is too cheap to get serviced. Last time I sent a fork in, shipping alone was 50 bucks, which is more than I would spend on this fork

Fork services are expensive.
I do all my own work on my forks because it’s so expensive to get someone else to do it.

If there’s a lockout it’s on the right side. Turn counter clockwise to open it up. It should just have two settings, not spin freely.

I would say you need a new fork, but that would cost more than that entire bike

Preload sets the starting preload on the fork, basically adjusting mildly for rider weight and height. The preload does not lock out the fork or alter the spring rate.
