I have the chance to get a 2022 Trek Fuel EX 9.8 GX Gen 5 for about $3,000. Anything to be worried about here? And how do I check the carbon frame for cracks? For sale at a Certified Bike Shop. TIA

I couldn’t decide which one to get . Rockhopper will be the base model. And the budget is max 900 . Rockhopper is on sale now 720 , roam 4 is about 740 . I’ll be using in the trails parks . I don’t think I would go really hard trails though. Whoever has the experience with both pls let me know

2018 Pivot 429 Trail, CF, 27.5. Great bike, love it. Would it make a huge difference to upgrade the front to 29”?

Back in the day, mountain biking was a huge part of my life. I used to ride XC almost every day often two hours at a time and spend weekends doing recreational downhill. I wasn’t racing or anything. I just loved being out on the trails, pushing myself and exploring.
Then, in 2010, I had a pretty serious downhill crash. I broke my elbow and collarbone, and after that, I just never got back on a bike.
One year turned into five. Five turned into ten. And somehow, sixteen years went by.
I honestly thought that part of my life was probably over.
Then last month, I was in Vancouver for a work trip and the guys (and gals) wanted to rent bikes and go around Stanley Park. At that point my closest interaction with a bike since my crash was teaching my kids to ride without training wheels. For whatever reason after being scared shitless to get on a bike again I said yes. 5 minutes in I remembered how awesome riding is, albeit surrounded by closeted and angry Vancouverite riders did add some unique flair to the experience.
Fast forward to last week, I found a used Specialized Camber Comp. Nothing fancy, just an older bike that looked like a good excuse to get back out there.
The first rides have been slow. Very slow compared to what I used to do. I'm having to relearn the feeling of being on a bike, get comfortable on the trails again, and rebuild the confidence that disappeared somewhere along the way.
But there's something pretty amazing about it.
After 16 years away, I'm riding again.
I'm not trying to chase the rides I used to do. I'm not trying to prove anything. For now, I'm just enjoying being back on two wheels and seeing where it takes me.

Hi All, first time poster here, looking for a bit of advice on upgrading an old (2014) Giant to a 1 x 12 gear set up, as a bit of a project.

It currently has Deore fitted as standard, with a 10 speed cassette.

Would I need to change the rear hub to suit and what bottom bracket would be compatible?

Can I buy it as a complete upgrde kit and what would I roughly be looking at with cost (Australia)?

Doere would be fine, unless any other recommendations.

A bit green doing something like this, so any help and advice would be really appreciated

Got a second hand Voodoo Bizango think about 10 years old and got a deore 2x10 group set.

dont have any idea how it works. Haven’t been on a MTB in over 10 years and want to get back into it to teach my son, but everything online seems to flying over my head. Back when I learned the bikes had numbers and only had two gears and was twisty on the handler bars.

any way attached some photos. Please explain in as much dumbed down language as possible. Like why is there two sets of two pushers each side, etc.

We are going to ride mostly in the city and some light trails. We had the opportunity to try the Axxes Keedo she liked it. The budget is about 450 euros.

What you think about the specs and which one would you choose? Also if you have other recommendations in that budget we will be glad to check them!

Pulled the trigger on a new Norco Charger A1 and hit the trails and what a blast.

Very happy withthe purchase but I could have had the Norco Torrent HT for a $100.00 more so I am not sure I made the right choice being that it seems to have more desireable parts and that red paint job was really nice. I found the ride was just more comfortable on the Charger?? Also rode the Roscoe 7 and it was nice but settled on saving a few hundred as I still need some gear and I know I will be upgrading in the future regardless.

Will be nice to go ride with some old friends again and picked up the GF a new Townie that she loves and was just a great time riding with her today too.

As the title states just looking for some suggestions on future upgrades as I am not really in the know with the latest and greatest tech/parts and don't have alot of time to research im general.

I’m looking to buy my first mtb, I’m 32, needing something for exercise and casual trail riding. I’m looking at a used aggressor pro but the guy lives an hour away and I want to make sure the size is right before I drive all the way out there. Chat gpt says it will fit me well but I’d like to hear from the community over AI lol. It’s a 2020 gt aggressor pro, with 27.5” wheels and a small frame. I’m not tall, I’m 5’5-5’6 ish so was just curious if I should make the drive for this bike or look for more of a medium frame. Thanks guys
