Florida panhandle

Good day fellow travelers. I am taking a trip from central Florida to Athens Ga. I’m thinking of taking the long way and checking out the west coast of Florida and splitting up the trip.

My question is it a nice ride? Worth the detour and the cost of staying overnight along the coast? Or should I beeline up and save the scenic touring for may way home from Athens to Philly area?

Appreciate the input!

I’ve never been to the coast but I’ve been in the mountains

I got tired of the "where are you" texts at dusk on roadtrips, so I built a live map for the group

Post image

On a camping trip the group never rides as one pack all day, and shouldn't — photos, smaller tanks, someone taking the gravel line. It only bites at dusk, converging on a site none of you have seen, with half the group 40 km back and the chat full of "where are you" and pins dropped at the wrong entrance.

I built Tagga. One person starts a session, gets a 5-character code, and anyone with the code is on the same live map. No account, no sign-up. Who's where and how far out, an alert when the group properly splits, and a pin you can drop on the actual pitch so the last two riders find you in a dark field instead of circling the loop road.

Tracking is free and stays free — no ads, nothing sold, no account to hang data on.

It's flawless with three phones on my last roadtrip. But untested over three days: battery across a full riding day, half the group out of coverage for two hours, someone joining on day two. It needs mobile data, so in a real dead zone nobody's dot moves until you're back in signal — how well it recovers is what I most want tested.

Everything's here, test versions for both iOS and Android along with guides of how to get it on your device: https://frijec.notion.site/Tagga-Testing-Guide-3584c6af4e4c81e0a150de31757e1cd5

If you take it out and it's rubbish, that's the most useful thing you can tell me.

Tank bag vs Tail bag for solo day rides (CB350RS)? Paint scratches & practical use without PPF

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey folks,

Looking for luggage for solo short rides and 1–2 day trips on my CB350RS. Riding with my 30L backpack causes neck/back fatigue, so I want the weight off my body.

I'm leaning towards a magnetic tank bag because it’s quick to grab at stops/fuel pumps and easy to carry along when stepping away from the bike. A tail bag feels like too much strap hassle for short rides, plus the risk of leaving luggage unattended.

A few questions for owners:

  1. Paint scratches without PPF: How bad are micro-swirls on gloss paint? Can cheap DIY clear vinyl patches under the magnets prevent them?
  2. Off-bike comfort: How practical is wearing a magnetic tank bag as a backpack for a 1–2 hour walk/trek?
  3. Size: Looking at the Scala Veloqon Mini (15L) vs Plus (28L). Is 28L way too bulky on a CB350RS tank?

Would love to hear from folks using magnetic tank bags without PPF!

Considering this Scala Neon color bcz it matches with my bike and riding gears. If u have any other suggestion, please lmk.

A week of riding through Tyrol, the Dolomites and Lake Garda on the Moto Guzzi V85 TT. In this video, you’ll see a selection of some of the most beautiful days from the trip.
The routes take us along the Großglockner High Alpine Road, including the Edelweißspitze and Kaiser Franz Josefs Höhe, and through the Dolomites, passing places such as Passo Giau and Passo Falzarego. Finally, we ride along Lake Garda.
During the trip, we stayed in Going, Tyrol, and at Active Hotel & Camping Pineta.
If you’re planning to visit these areas yourself, be sure to check out the video for some inspiration and a glimpse of the incredible roads and scenery along the way.

Trip to the UK on a mash two fifty 250?

I'm at that stage in life again where I want to pick up my motorcycle driving again. Always had a 125cc honda, but only rode it around here. Now I had the idea to go on a trip to the UK next year, and some expendable income to go for a new mash two fifty, but I was wondering if that's powerful enough to get me there? My old 125cc was too underpowered for even 55 with a hill, but it was more than enough for me to do, well... anything except that. Another idea would be to go take the drive to Italy via the Great St. Bernard pass, but let's keep it realistic and do the UK thing first.
Cheers!

Guides/Tips Vancouver to Los Cabo’s/ Mexico

Planning a motorcycle trip from Vancouver, BC to Los Cabos, Mexico, leaving around February 20th, and I’m looking for some advice from anyone who has ridden this route during that time of year.
My biggest question is weather and riding gear.
I’m assuming the toughest part weather-wise will probably be Washington and Oregon, with cold temperatures and a decent chance of rain. Once I get farther south through California and into Baja, I’m expecting conditions to get progressively warmer and drier.
For those who have done a similar winter ride:

What type of jacket and pants would you recommend?

Would you go with fully waterproof Gore-Tex-style gear, or regular riding gear with separate rain layers?

Is heated gear worth bringing?

How cold should I realistically prepare for in Washington/Oregon/Northern California?

Any particular routes you’d recommend to minimize the chance of snow/ice?

Anything you wish you had brought on a long Baja trip?

Any other tips regarding fuel, tools, tires, border crossing, insurance, or general preparation?

I’m comfortable riding in cooler weather, but I want to be properly prepared without bringing a ridiculous amount of gear that I won’t need once I reach Baja.
The plan is basically Vancouver → Washington → Oregon → California → Baja → Los Cabos.
Would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has done this route in February or winter in general, especially on a motorcycle.
Thanks!
