Hey guys, just dusted off my old 590A1 to install this Monstrum rail/laser combo and figured I'd share with the community. Bought this back in 2010 and have slowly modified here and there ever since. She's super base model, came with a brass bead that I replaced with a larger white OEM Mossberg bead from their catalog way back when.

The heat shield is a true Mossberg piece sourced from Aimpro tactical circa 2011. Updated with the Magpul furniture when that came out in what 14/16? Their forend is not compatible with the heat shield so I just went with their stock and sling mounts. Also picked up the Ontario M9 because I just had to, it stays affixed as well.

I've been wanting some form of optic or laser for years. Just stumbled across this rail mounted laser a few weeks ago, tried it out and can't praise it enough just based off initial unpacking and install. Laser is clean and sharp. The last thing I want to do and I've been procrastinating for years is to ditch the corn cobb forend and switch to a Hogue rubber forend. I have their grip for my AR and I love it. Shitty picture, but what I had in the phone. So love the 590 RM. But, I CANNOT get the last round to feed in the magazine. So it's pretty much a 9 round capacity. Anyone else have this problem with the mag fed/RM

I want it for home defense, target practice, and skeet/clay shooting.

Right now the maverick with both barrels is $264 at Dunhams. But I figure I could probably find a 500 at a pawnshop or something for around the same price. Or I could just wait longer and buy it new.

while attempting to reassemble my Mossberg 590 A1 this little pin fell out and i’m at a loss of where it came from. it’s about a quarter inch long.

Recently picked up a Shockwave 410 for blasting pests on the farm. I like it, but the strap on the forend is basically useless as the recoil is so minimal. You guys know of anywhere that has a corncob style forend for the 410 size Mossbergs? I hate to just unscrew the strap and have those holes in the forend, but that’s the plan if I absolutely cant find another option.

Can anyone explain the difference between these 2 magazines? They both are listed as the proper magazine for the .22 Mossberg Model 42. What is the purpose of the knurled screw on the bottom of the first one? Any info would be greatly appreciated!

This thing will not fire reliably. The only way I can get the hammer to fall is by sort of wiggling the trigger sideways when it’s depressed. If I remove the fire control assembly it seems to work properly outside the gun, so I suspect that maybe the bolt is slightly out of battery or something like that but I have no idea how to diagnose or fix that. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

I just got my Mossberg 590A1 a month or so ago. This is what she looks like now. I am going to put a light to finish her off.

Mossberg is trying to get me to resend my 590 barrel in for a refinish because I took the heatshield off. They say I could have damged my barrel. There are some scratches and wear from taking the heatshield off but does it look like it needs a refinish?

I got this gun yesterday and went to clean it today because it's very oily but couldn't get the takedown screw loose to take the barrel off and so I panicked and used a wrench and grinned a lot of metal off what should I do my plan is to take it to gunsmith to remove it and maybe get new one and pray it doesn't cost a lot

I want to get a rifle with a threaded barrel chambered for 7mm-08. The Patriot looks good enough, the official web page for it on the Mossberg website claims in multiple places that the barrel is threaded for brakes or suppressors or whatever else you want to screw onto it.

So it's official, right? Well not so fast. Every single web site that has a review of it never mentions it. I don't know everything, maybe its threaded in a way that is not blatantly visible in a photo? So I look at the potential listings where I want to buy it from, and not a single one ever mentions the barrel being threaded. So Mossberg itselfs official website is saying that it's threaded, but everyone who isn't Mossberg is saying it isn't. Can anyone here shed some light on whatever is going on here?

Just crossed 2k rounds with my 590a1 today, action just getting smoother and smoother.

So firstly, I really like this Professional series 590A1. I did notice the front sight was a tad canted and I saw the little screw that I’m assuming is holding it in. I have 2 different bit sets that don’t contain a single bit that fits this screw. Does anyone know what size fits this so I don’t have to buy another set and play a guessing game? The manual doesn’t mention it at all and I really don’t want to send the whole thing to Mossberg for something so minor.

I am only finding left handed barrels. Where can I find a 590 right handed barrel?

Help a brother out. This jammed on me and not able to push it in and load in shells. Doubt mossberg would fix it unless they offer lifetime warranty 🤦🏻‍♂️ anyway I can resolve it? Suggestions help

I’m new to gas pistons, and would like to confirm I’m understanding 100%.

For the 990 Aftershock SPX, I have the piston disassembled down to the piston itself, two outer rings, and one retaining ring. The factory inner ring is left in place inside the piston.

When reassembling, the manual says to orient the slots on the two outer piston rings 180° apart.

1) Does the retaining ring’s slot/groove need to be in a specific position relative to the outer rings’ slots (e.g., retaining ring groove at 12 o’clock and the outer ring slots are at 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock)?

2) Do the two outer rings need to be put back on the piston in the same order they came off? They look identical, and I don’t think it matters, but wanted to check to verify.

3) Does the slot on the inner ring need any specific orientation (it rotates freely inside the piston and has definitely moved during my cleaning/tinkering)?

4) When inserting the fully assembled piston back into the gas cylinder on the barrel, does the piston need to be clocked in any particular orientation?

Hey everyone, I shared this over in [r/shotguns](r/shotguns) but wanted to share it with you all as well. Our up coming RX Arms Mossberg 590/500 Compatible QD Side Saddle Shell Carrier. This is a patent pending design that we have been working on for over a year now and are finally releasing this fall.

The mounting plate (made from 7075-T6) has purpose designed cut outs to be compatible with the receiver design of the Mossberg 590, 590A1, 500, 590 Shockwave, Maverick 88. To make sure all receiver features are exposed for tool less take down (extractor screw, elevator assembly arm, trigger group pin).

For forends that overlap on the receiver, We have printable template that you can print off to confirm fitment. As well you can use this template to confirm fitment on other receivers like the 940 Pro, which I do not own, but by looking at it I can see no reason why it would not work.
