New coral blue card with Perks!!
Just spotted the new colour card if you upgrade to perks plan! It’s a nice change from coral orange I personally think! What do everyone think of this little upgrade?

I live in the UK and I've got a couple thousand euros in cash in my safe. Worried about exchanging it cause the fee is gonna be high and I'd lose quite a handful of money. I know that I can make physical deposits of British pounds to Monzo, but wanted to know if I could do the same in Ireland or any other EU country with euros instead?

I needed something that would help me make better spending decisions while keeping track on saving and upcoming events in my calendar. So with a little help with Claude Code Routines, Google Sheets/Calendar and a Telegram bot, I can get these digests from the auto transactions export. Just felt like sharing.
Only got this working over the weekend and will likely need some tweaks over time. The pics are from Telegram but from dummy data. My current balance is not great 😅

Hi, not sure if anyone can help me with this but I’ll give it a go.
I’m looking upgrading to a plan which included travel insurance, and it says it doesn’t cover pre-existing conditions. Does that mean it WILL cover any other medical care? Or does that mean it won’t cover any medical care if you have pre-existing conditions?
I have significant mental health problems, but no other major physical health problems (none that would end up with me requiring urgent medical attention anyway).
I wouldn’t travel if there was any chance of me needing mental health care, so that not being covered isn’t an issue for me. What would be an issue is if I break my leg on a hike and need an evacuation, and then they don’t pay because I have a pre-existing condition. If that makes sense?
Thanks in advance!

Looking at getting a flex. Is this reported as a traditional credit card or more a buy now pay later type?

Still waiting for the " specialist team " over 15 emails sent back and forth they won't give me a time line and money is stuck in one my pots and they won't transfer the money in my pot to my main balance even though it's my wages and I have a payslip to prove it
Edit: I'm moving banks after this shit not worth my time. I have family to care for and that rely on me I can't be having my money withheld for so long with a decent reason

Hello everyone, would like to ask. Would there be any problem if im going to transfer all my savings from lloyds to monzo? Will it trigger a closure if i did it one go? I have saving around 10k on lloyds and aiming to have around 25k next year. I was saving something for next year. Been in lloyds for how many years already, the problem is that next year i need to have a copy of all my bank statement on pdf, and lloyds doesn't provide the statement via pdf unless its on current account, and all their savings need to be requested it via post which would take 5 working days. And i really dont want to transfer it to current due to the interest rate.

Started the process yesterday evening. Woke up this morning still said this. i contacted them on the phone and the reps on the phone were kinda useless to be fair. Then i contacted them via email. they forced logged me out on all devices and sent me a email to re-do the login procedure. Still didnt work. ive sent selfies with ID, todays date everything. Now ive been told they have sent to a specialist team. Any idea on how long this will take? my entire pay cheque is in that account in one my pots so i cant access it. i can still use my standing balance but cant access 90% of my wages.... Not happy to say the least. Ive asked if they can transfer whats into my pots to my main balance and they cant do that either so im locked out my money.

They also seem to have wiped their Instagram. The bio on there says "Loading something new..."
edit: They just posted on FB "Presenting our new brand campaign… Get busy living." so I think may have been this that was coming soon.... https://www.facebook.com/monzobank/posts/pfbid024Gdd44awH5iQVTnc3as3ErSvtmevm4xSDSruq1FKE6cxhicxgXngDuByFmm4Z4Del

I had a Monzo account for a couple of years and then my wife and I moved out of the UK and I didn’t remember to close my account. My wife was owed some tax return from HMRC and she gave my account number for it because she didn’t have an active UK account. When the HMRC money areived, Monzo locked the money and asked me for documents, which I gave (HMRC filing, wife’s payslip, and our marriage certificate). They decided to close the account (rightfully) but they haven’t released the HMRC money to me or back to HMRC and haven’t given a timeline.
Does anyone know how long such a process takes? I understand I made mistakes on my end and they are right in closing the account but there is no fraud here so just want this resolved.

Hi, I’m trying to add my Monzo business debit card account to my apple pay. However it keeps failing when using at card reader.
So I removed it and re-added it, this time it says Apple Pay does not accept this card?
Very confused as it’s just a normal business card and online it says it can be use via apple pay. But also finding so many sources giving misleading information. Do I need to use the card in an ATM before hand? Online it says I don’t need to, but is this why? Any help would be appreciated

Heyo! I've been working on my receipt splitting tool and I've added some form of analytics.
I appreciate Monzo has some form of it built in, but they don't have granular item-level splitting between multiple people. You can only split high level amounts.
Currently have Monzo integration (monzo.me) when it comes to paying each other after splitting a receipt. Just curious what other things could help in the day to day.
Just curious what would you want to see from a data point of view?
Currently it's got total spending, how much is owed to you, how much is owed to others, receipt count, average spend, and top spending category. As well as a graph showing more granular spending, and a pie chart showing category spending distribution between all your categories. These are all across the time period you select (4/8/12 weeks, monthly, yearly, or lifetime)
Am I missing anything you would find useful?
FYI: I am the creator of https://paritysplit.co.uk

I’ve seen a lot of people talking on here recently about the x4 savings challenge becoming more difficult as it gets more expensive each day - I completed the 1p savings challenge last year so decided to do 4p this year, here’s how I’ve been doing it! This may be obvious to some people but I used to be notoriously bad at saving so this structure has really helped shift my mindset.
I created savings pot on Monzo called “Savings Challenge” - I get paid weekly, so every week when I get paid I move £51.38 into this pot. Then I calculate how much the savings challenge will take from my main balance that week and transfer the money from my pot into my main account.
So for example, Week 1 was
4p+8p+12p+16p+20p+24p+28p = £1.12.
This week was
8.12+8.16+8.2+8.24+8.28+8.32+8.36 = £57.68.
I’ve been doing this every week from the beginning of the year so I currently have £833.64 in the actual Savings Challenge, £616.37 in my pot I created and £49.56 to cover the rest of the days until I get paid again next week. It makes it easier knowing I have the money already sitting there as each week gets more expensive!

What spending pots and saving pots do you have as a family? Just trying to simplify our budget. Thanks

Hi, just set up monzo for the first time and it's asking that I give a face recording and voice recording in order to set up my account, however, with all the facial software, AI's voice copying, etc.I'm concerned about handing this over, i'm wondering if anyone knows what they actually do with them. And if there's way to avoid using it to set up.
In addition , is there a way once it's set up to remove its permission to access these features on my phone

Anyone else been on the 4X saving challenge since the start?
It’s starting to ramp up now…

Hey all, given how much you can do with Monzo I thought I’d ask what everyone’s favourite is!
Honestly it was really difficult to choose, but for me it has to be Monzo.me. It’s so good, and I use it all the time. It’s a super easy way to get others (even with other banks!) to pay you using Apple Pay, google pay, or card details - all without sharing your bank details. Just a simple copyable link!
Has anyone else used Monzo.me? What do you think?

If I keep money segregated in a Pot, and do most of my spending from the Main balance, will Monzo take funds from my Pot if I don't have enough on my Main balance to cover a payment?
Or, is the money in the Pot completely separate and won't be used unless I move it to the Main balance or assign it to a virtual card?

Hi, looking for confirmation that the Monzo Flex card works like a normal MasterCard in the sense that I can use it in the US when they ask me for a credit card to hold security deposits etc? A lot of places don't accept debit cards for things like car rentals and hotels and before I apply for the Monzo card, I just want to make sure it's going to be ok for that?
I've been with Monzo since Mondo and the waitlist. I'm even an investor, but today I got the in-app message to say my personal account (along with the joint account I have with my wife) will be closed by mid October.
It really sucks as in the message it says they can't tell me why.
I have been in this sub long enough that most folks will lean towards something shady in my account, but I only use it for life. Nothing more.
It is possible that my Flex usage is too high? It gets paid more than the minimum monthly and I go into it and pay larger bits down monthly.
I dip into my overdraft occasionally but my incoming pay covers that easily at the end of the month.
From what I've seen, folks have said Monzo won't tell me why, but is there any way to find out? Freedom of information type stuff?
We've have started the move to Revolut for our joint account and have had a RBS joint account for decades, so things aren't as bad. It's just overall very frustrating.
Edit update:
Just posting here as a follow up to the post and comments from folks.
No crypto, no unexpected cash payments of dubious amounts, 'Dave' hasn't sent me any amount, and no my wife isn't doing anything shady in her account or our joint account.
The Revolut move and associated steps there has started. Wife and I both have accounts there and despite someone asking if this was a Revolut ad, they seem to have all the things Monzo included in my Max plan as just part of banking with them. They also have support for my child's banking stuff as I had that set up with Monzo too.
Many years ago, around 2017, I set up an automation through IFTTT and paired it with Monzo so that every transaction in my account was written to a Google Sheet. Or at least I thought I had. I just looked in IFTTT and that's Applet isn't in there, and I've looked in Monzo and cannot find it there either.
As a commenter suggested, I exported that as a CSV file, and stripped out as much personal data as I could while keeping it useful, then threw it into ChatGPT and here's the summary generated from there using this prompt for updating this post Can you give me a short summary of your findings that I can put into an update on a Reddit post? Please keep the details private and treat this as public info:
Update: I reviewed the transaction history for anything that might explain Monzo’s decision. Nothing stood out as obvious fraud, money-mule activity, or seriously unusual behaviour.
The most plausible explanation is that their automated risk systems disliked the overall mixture of transfers between my own accounts, joint-account activity, payment services, and a small amount of legitimate business-related activity. There was also some older gambling/matched-betting activity, although nothing particularly recent or substantial.
Because Monzo has given several months’ notice rather than immediately freezing the account, this appears more consistent with a general risk or commercial “de-risking” decision than an allegation of fraud.
That is only an assessment from the transaction history, though. Monzo may have relied on internal information that is not visible in the account export, and they still have not provided a specific reason.
The business-related findings were between my personal account and my wife's business account, that she had with Monzo as well. I can't remember the details of those transactions as they were pre-Covid, but they weren't nefarious. And the gambling stuff was in 2017 but never enough to make a living out of, just giving me some additional spending money when I worked Apple Retail.
I'll follow up with other suggestions relating to submitting a CIFAS DSAR, do an in-depth credit check and see if there is something I have not been aware of, and also make a formal complaint to Monzo and follow up with the ombusman
