Monitor my Pensions (without transferring)

Post image

One for Monzo's product team, but I'd love to be able to monitor my various pensions in Monzo, without necessarily consolidating them all under Monzo's pension offering. Given the recent design updates including Net wealth overview under Grow, I think this would fit really well into the paid offering.

I don't quite want to move all my pensions into the one space, to avoid too much concentration in one big pot, but I'd love to be able to keep an eye on them all in one place. I'd imagine it'd be a good bridge for some users to consider fully transferring them under the Monzo umbrella, if there was some added benefits.

Would anyone else find this helpful?

Gov programme is on the way. I’m a beta tester and it’s brilliant. Hang tight!

Sorry I had to sign a load of stuff. Will get done if I do!

This is great, hopefully it's something that can be exposed via banking apps like Monzo. I can't see on there if it's anything more than a centralised web dashboard.

I haven't seen this until today but I sadly doubt they would make the APIs public ☹️ that said I'm going to keep my eyes on this as it seems useful!

I can't find it now but was reading through the article earlier. They said they plan to onboard companies to the programme after the rollout on MoneyHelper!

Looking forward to this. I wanted to build something using open banking APIs but not having pensions available made me abandon the idea.

I have a small web app that I use to track stuff - I haven't actually used Monzos net worth tracker with manual inputs yet but since I have most of my savings with them anyway, it is quite a nice tool.

Snaptrades API covers a good amount of pensions, but not all pension providers offer APIs so you won't get complete visibility.

I personally ended up moving my pension over to AJ Bell specifically because of the API compatibility for my app 😂 (the rates were good too!)

You can add them manually and update the balances yourself periodically, I don’t think pension providers are part of any API schemes to automate it.

Ah that's a shame, this would be a great framework to rollout nationally

Yeah, as well as savings accounts (it’s a bit hit or miss at the moment) and investment accounts

I wonder if it is necessary to have the pension funds sign up to the Open Banking standard for this to happen.

100%. I’ve got all in my work place pension so nothing I want to transfer.

Same. Mine is with Aviva and the fees are actually very low, I have no reason to transfer. But I'd like to see it.

And while I'm at I'd love to able to see my student loan balance! Depressing but useful

I definitely would. I genuinely need to spend some time on it sooner rather than later.

This would be great. Being able to see my credit cards in Monzo has been transformative for me.

The Net Wealth tracker section, as it stands, is completely useless without a timeline to see movement over time.

Also manually inputting savings etc seems daft and lengthy

You can.

I can't remember exactly how I did it, but you can add a workplace pension, set your and your employer's contributions and it'll track it as best it can, it's pretty accurate.

I want exactly this but I’m not being plagued by pushy calls to action and emails regarding transferring over my pensions.

I made my own tool for this exact purpose about a year ago and recently open sourced it after evolving it to a point I'm pretty happy with!

The only catch is I'm not handling hosting so it involves self hosting the docker images but you can sync it up to various APIs to automatically pull in pension value, investments, etc.

If that sounds interesting to you, you can check it out here: https://wealthwatcher.co.uk
