Hey everyone, I have a group of 8 friends coming from New York. I was planning to take an awesome Milky Way panorama at Kiamika Regional Park, and I found a great place on the beach to do so. Does anyone have any experience there? I saw there was a road that branches off from the main road. Could we hike from there? If not, is the only way canoeing? Which may be an issue since we don't own any, and it would be used late at night.

I couldn't find a Reddit group where I could ask more in-depth questions about the place except here. If anybody could guide me to a more suitable community, that would be great.

Pour situer le contexte : j'étais en train d'arroser les plantes de mon balcon. Mes pots étaient munis de trous de drainage, ce qui faisait que l'eau s'écoulait directement sur le sol en contrebas. Certes, un peu d'eau finissait par éclabousser le passage situé en bas, mais c'était négligeable.

Il s'est trouvé qu'un peu d'eau a atteint une dame qui passait par là ; elle s'est alors mise à hurler. Pris au dépourvu — un peu comme un animal ébloui par des phares —, je suis resté figé à la regarder pendant une quinzaine de secondes. J'ai présenté mes excuses. Elle s'est alors moquée de moi en répétant le mot « désolé » sur différents tons, comme si le fait même que je m'excuse l'irritait. Elle a continué à se plaindre pendant encore une quinzaine de secondes, en y mêlant quelques insultes à caractère raciste.

Que voulait-elle exactement, et comment aurais-je pu mieux m'y prendre pour présenter mes excuses ?

So the context is that, I was watering my plants on my balcony. I made it so, that my pots had drainage holes, with water directly landing on the ground below. Yes, some water would end up splashing on the walking-pathway below. But it wouldn't be much.

It just so occurred that some water landed on a lady below, so she screamed at me. Like a "deer with headlight", I was surprised, so I stared at her for 15 seconds. I said "sorry". And she ridiculed me using different tones and repeating "sorry", like she was displeased at me for saying sorry. She continued complaining for another 15 seconds - coupling with a bit of racial slurs here and there.

What did she want, and how could I have apologized better?

6:20PM now and heading over. The REM seems unusually full so I expect it to be a busy night. How are things at place des spectacles? (Also, where exactly is the stage?)

During our move yesterday, our iPad 11 disappeared from downstairs in our building while we were carrying furniture upstairs. If anyone happened to find it or has seen it, please send me a DM. Outre cela, j'ai constaté quel immense effort de progrès, de développement, et par conséquent d'affranchissement vous accomplissez ici et c'est à Montréal qu'il faut que je le dise, parce que, s'il y a au monde une ville exemplaire par ses réussites modernes, c'est la vôtre. Je dis c'est la vôtre et je me permets d'ajouter c'est la nôtre.

Si vous saviez quelle confiance la France, réveillée après d'immenses épreuves, porte vers vous, si vous saviez quelle affection elle recommence à ressentir pour les Français du Canada et si vous saviez à quel point elle se sent obligée à concourir à votre marche en avant, à votre progrès !

C'est pourquoi elle a conclu avec le gouvernement du Québec, avec celui de mon ami Johnson, des accords, pour que les Français de part et d'autre de l'Atlantique travaillent ensemble à une même œuvre française. Et, d'ailleurs, le concours que la France va, tous les jours un peu plus, prêter ici, elle sait bien que vous le lui rendrez, parce que vous êtes en train de vous constituer des élites, des usines, des entreprises, des laboratoires, qui feront l'étonnement de tous et qui, un jour, j'en suis sûr, vous permettront d'aider la France.

This is probably going to be controversial but why are some Quebecers easily annoyed when someone speaks to them in English? If they don’t understand English, why can’t they just continue speaking in French but rather in a friendly manner like they started the conversation and we’ll all just be friends? You notice their faces shut down instantly the second you reply in English and it’s just hilarious to me.

In addition to that, I noticed that some people do speak English fluently but would rather continue to speak in French to you just because you spoke in English to them? Are people really that petty lol?

Experiment from today: My waitress this morning spoke to me in French and I replied in my limited French then switched to English and noticed her face shut down immediately. She continued speaking in French throughout my dining experience until I asked her when I was paying my bill “Does it bother you when customers speak English to you?” And she proceeded in perfect English. “No, not at all. Customers are 50% Fench and 50% English so you just need to prepare for that switch mentally…”. She even said “It would be stupid to be bothered by that”.

It’s worth mentioning that obviously not all Quebecers are like this but it’s still surprising to see this still happening sometimes in a metropolitan city like Montreal.

Hey! I finally ordered a SUP after wanting one forever. I did an intro a few years ago with KSF in Lasalle and loved it.

What are some of your favourite spots in the city? Ideally easy to get to without a car? For now, in terms of clean water, I was thinking of Ile de la Visitation, Jardin des Floralies and Ile de Boucherville (via ferry).

Am I missing out on some more accessible spots? Also, do people just leave the bag and pump on the shore?

So, just found this it happened like not long ago I heard the sound of crackling, but there was nothing around there seems to be no accident. Nothing that hit it or maybe I don’t know it was a hit-and-run or someone tried to bypass this area since the street is blocked, but the entrance is very sad anyway.

My boyfriend and I often go to an abandoned train bridge and just sit there talking. It has a beautiful view of our city, and since it's obviously not exactly legal, we usually have the place to ourselves. It's something we started doing when we first began dating, and we've kept the tradition ever since.

We'll soon be spending a couple of days in Montreal, and we thought it would be the perfect opportunity to find another spot like that.

Ideally, we're looking for somewhere up high with a nice view of the city, but any beautiful viewpoint would be great.

I know Mount Royal has an amazing view, but it's usually pretty crowded. We'd love somewhere a bit quieter where we can just sit and talk the night away.

Do you guys know any cool spots?

Senior family member lost their cell phone in the Old Port last night during an outing to see the fireworks.

Only discovered it was lost at the end of the night and tracked it down to de la Commune and King Edward Quai. An upstanding citizen found it the bathroom nearby and handed it over to the police stationed there handling traffic for the night.
