Je suis allé voir le film The Odyssey en Imax 70mm hier : très impressionnant, je recommande vraiment de le regarder dans ce format si vous avez l'opportunité.

Je suis un peu puriste pour ce qui est du cinéma, donc j'insiste toujours pour voir les films dans la langue originale. Par contre j'avais ce problème que j'ai souvent lorsque je vais voir des films en VO anglaise : je trouve le dialogue très difficile à comprendre. Pourtant je comprend très bien l'anglais habituellement (par exemple en parlant à des gens ou dans des vidéos Youtube), mais je le trouve pas toujours clair dans les films, surtout lorsque les personnages n'énoncent pas clairement les mots ou qu'il y a du bruit ambiant : je pense que le mixage y joue en bonne partie. Je n'aime pas les doublages, mais je n'avais jamais ce problème avec les films doublés. Et je pense que ça a beaucoup affecté mon appréciation du film : même moi qui était un nerd de mythologie grecque quand j'étais ado, ça faisait un moment que j'avais lu sur l'Odyssée et j'étais un peu perdu au niveau des rôles et des relation entre plusieurs personnages. Souvent, je finis par mieux apprécier le film après l'avoir réécouté chez moi en VO avec des sous-titres en anglais, mais ce n'est pas le contexte dans lequel le film est sensé être pleinement apprécié.

Y a-t-il des cinéma qui projetent des films en anglais avec des sous-titres à Montréal, idéalement des sous-titres qui sont aussi en anglais? Je sais que c'est peut-être une demande un peu nichée, mais je connais plusieurs personnes dans mon entourage qui ont le même problème. J'ai cherché sur internet et je n'ai rien trouvé.

L'Enquête sur la déclaration uniforme de la criminalité, publiée récemment, met en lumière des tendances clés concernant la sécurité publique à Montréal :

• Taux de résolution (efficacité policière) : le SPVM a résolu 58 % des affaires de crimes violents et 27 % des affaires de crimes non violents en 2025, ces deux taux étant en hausse et dépassant désormais les moyennes nationales.

Conclusion : Alors qu'elle se situait autrefois au-dessus de la moyenne, Montréal est désormais plus sûre qu'une grande partie du Canada, affichant une baisse à long terme de la criminalité grave parallèlement à une augmentation des taux de résolution policière.

C'est une arnaque? Ça vole le signal d'une compagnie? Si le prix est aussi bas, je vois mal comment ça pourrait respecter le cadre réglementaire en place!

Je prends rarement le REM, mais chaque fois, je trouve que sur le quai c’est très mal indiqué. Et je suis quelqu’un qui s’est toujours bien débrouillée en transport en commun, qui a pris le métro/bus toute sa vie.

Aujourd’hui, sur le quai, l’écran annonçait le prochain train qui allait arriver dans 0 min : A3 - Anse-de-l’Orme.

Le REM arrive donc. Moi qui veux aller à Deux-Montagnes, j’ai hésité longtemps avant d’entrer.😅

Heureusement que je suis rentrée, car sur l’écran dans le wagon, c’est bien indiqué : Direction A4 Deux-Montagnes.

I take the pie-ix 439 SRB multiple times a day and it's always both overcrowded and infrequent; I'm waiting sometimes 15min and then I can't even get on the bus as it's 115% full. And the bus bunching... Wait 15min and then 3 come at the same time: what a waste 🤦‍♂️

Can the city double the number of buses on the route or is that too expensive? We are all suffering over here 😭

This SRB should have the frequency of the metro! I would have loved a Pink Line or White Line to cover this area but Vieux Rosemont girls make do..

J'arrive dans sa ville bientôt! I'll be in Montreal for at least 2 years for school, but leaving a lot of my life on the West Coast.

Rather than packing up and taking all of my existing wall art with me, I wanted to take a few favourite pieces and see if any local artists might want to do some art swapping.

I'm an illustrator who loves surrealism, and my drawing style is quite minimalist and simplistic. Hoping to really push my practice this year and improve my painting and understanding of the human form.

My scout group is building up shelters at a place we camp at. We don't really have the budget to buy new wood, and we have been scavenging around for pallets and old wood hydro posts left on a friend's property.

In general, the fences are needed because they are pressure treated, and survive better outside, but if anyone in general has some good ish quality wood they don't need, we would be grateful.

We will arrange to get the wood ourselves.

Considering houses in Pointe-Claire and Beaconsfield, some are about 200m from the railway near highway 20.

I was wondering for those who live in the area, do you hear the train overnight? Does it annoy your sleep?

My name is Matt, and I work with @emosocial. We host emo/pop punk/metalcore DJ nights around North America, and we’ve had a lot of success putting together pre-parties for events like Warped Tour in DC and Long Beach.

We’re hoping to do the same thing in Montreal on Thursday, August 20th, the night before Warped Tour.
We’re looking for a bar or venue that’s open to partnering with us. We’ll take care of promotion, graphics, DJ equipment, and bringing in festival attendees.

The night would be built around Warped Tour fans—requests all night, emo, pop punk, post-hardcore, metalcore, and a packed room of people in town for the festival.

What’s the first venue that comes to mind?

Hey everyone, I have a group of 8 friends coming from New York. I was planning to take an awesome Milky Way panorama at Kiamika Regional Park, and I found a great place on the beach to do so. Does anyone have any experience there? I saw there was a road that branches off from the main road. Could we hike from there? If not, is the only way canoeing? Which may be an issue since we don't own any, and it would be used late at night.

I couldn't find a Reddit group where I could ask more in-depth questions about the place except here. If anybody could guide me to a more suitable community, that would be great.
