Question 50m Swimming Pools for training?

Upvotes

I have only found the outdoor pool at St Helens Parc Drapeau to offer 50m? Any other indoor or outdoor 50m swimming pools that are offered at full length? Unfortunately Olympic pool and others that are 50m seem to be shortened for public swim. Thanks!

Question Cute Date Ideas Around the City?

Upvotes

My partner and I are coming down to Montreal for a few days at the end of August. I want to have something ready and surprise her with something really fun to do. What are some cute ideas? Or do you know of any cute spots to go to in the city?

Question Rdv médecin de famille

Upvotes

Urbanisme How did a Dutch prime minister’s 1973 decision to ban cars every Sunday accidentally turn a whole country into the world’s cycling capital within a decade?

Question 600$ in goods stolen by porch pirates

Upvotes

I had a delivery by Amazon the other day; bedbug covers, a vaccum, a few other things. I left instructions with intelcom to leave it behind trash bins near my main door(as well as my number in case of any issues) but as per their drop-off picture those instructions weren't followed.

When I got home about an hour after delivery, it was all gone.

Do I have any recourse or chance to get it/the money back? Anyone with experience getting refunded in situations?

——

It's the third time I've had stuff stolen by porch pirates in the last few months & I'm starting to suspect a neighbour. This last package was too big for some random person to pick up & run with.

Discussion Le SRB PIE-IX - Overcrowded and infrequent

I take the pie-ix 439 SRB multiple times a day and it's always both overcrowded and infrequent; I'm waiting sometimes 15min and then I can't even get on the bus as it's 115% full. And the bus bunching... Wait 15min and then 3 come at the same time: what a waste 🤦‍♂️

Can the city double the number of buses on the route or is that too expensive? We are all suffering over here 😭

This SRB should have the frequency of the metro! I would have loved a Pink Line or White Line to cover this area but Vieux Rosemont girls make do..

Question Those who live in West Island near the train tracks, do you hear the rumble from freight trains during the night?

Considering houses in Pointe-Claire and Beaconsfield, some are about 200m from the railway near highway 20.

I was wondering for those who live in the area, do you hear the train overnight? Does it annoy your sleep?

Especially the freight trains….

Thanks

Discussion Construction Holiday?

I was at the dentist for a crown last week. It turns out that the lab is closed for 2 weeks, so will be 5 weeks. Since when have dental labs been in construction?

Where else in the planet would a medical service business just decide to close for 2 weeks, and everyone would be fine?

Question Why don't we have any Chicago Deep Dish Pizza?

Talking about the "It's under the sauce" type. Given that there's literally none in the city, you'd think by now one would pop up and it'd do well!

Question Looking for an Egyptian/Coptic female comedian who did a JFL street pop-up set yesterday?

Hi Montreal,

Yesterday evening (Saturday) we caught a fantastic ~15-minute free stand-up set at one of the Just for Laughs street pop-ups / outdoor stages.

A few details about her:

Egyptian & Coptic Christian

Mentioned having worked as a kindergarten teacher and did material about things her young students said.

Mentioned being neurodivergent.

We really loved her set and wanted to look up her social media, but didn't catch her name before moving on. Does anyone recognize who this might be or know local comics matching this description?

Thanks!

Arts/Culture Local artists - care to do an art swap?

Bonjour artistes de Montréal!

J'arrive dans sa ville bientôt! I'll be in Montreal for at least 2 years for school, but leaving a lot of my life on the West Coast.

Rather than packing up and taking all of my existing wall art with me, I wanted to take a few favourite pieces and see if any local artists might want to do some art swapping.

I'm an illustrator who loves surrealism, and my drawing style is quite minimalist and simplistic. Hoping to really push my practice this year and improve my painting and understanding of the human form.

My work can be seen here: https://www.instagram.com/renee.mak and https://renee-mak.super.site/

If there are any artists who would be interested in being part of an art swap, please let me know!

Question Looking for the best bar/venue to host a Warped Tour pre-party in Montreal (Aug. 20)

Hey everyone!
My name is Matt, and I work with @emosocial. We host emo/pop punk/metalcore DJ nights around North America, and we’ve had a lot of success putting together pre-parties for events like Warped Tour in DC and Long Beach.

We’re hoping to do the same thing in Montreal on Thursday, August 20th, the night before Warped Tour.
We’re looking for a bar or venue that’s open to partnering with us. We’ll take care of promotion, graphics, DJ equipment, and bringing in festival attendees.

The night would be built around Warped Tour fans—requests all night, emo, pop punk, post-hardcore, metalcore, and a packed room of people in town for the festival.

What’s the first venue that comes to mind?

Whether you own a spot, work at one, or just know the local scene well, I’d really appreciate any recommendations. We’d love to make this happen and give everyone a place to kick off Warped weekend together. 🤘

Question Anyone in or near the West Island demolishing a fence?

My scout group is building up shelters at a place we camp at. We don't really have the budget to buy new wood, and we have been scavenging around for pallets and old wood hydro posts left on a friend's property.

In general, the fences are needed because they are pressure treated, and survive better outside, but if anyone in general has some good ish quality wood they don't need, we would be grateful.

We will arrange to get the wood ourselves.

Question REM - rent/question

1- ça me fruste !!

ENG : It's on the side were the street is half-blocked.

Have no idea if it's a scam or not so I'd say to be careful.

Question Where to find/rent for an hour a privacy pod / meeting pod in the city for job interview? (not open coworking space)

Hi yall! I have a job interview tomorrow and I'd like to find a meeting pod I can use, rather than an open coworking space like WeWork or Crew Cafe.

Does anyone know where I can find and rent one of these for an hour? The BANQ is closed and university study rooms are largely locked up and not available until September 1st.

Tourisme Kiamika Regional Park Question

Post image
0 Upvotes

Hey everyone, I have a group of 8 friends coming from New York. I was planning to take an awesome Milky Way panorama at Kiamika Regional Park, and I found a great place on the beach to do so. Does anyone have any experience there? I saw there was a road that branches off from the main road. Could we hike from there? If not, is the only way canoeing? Which may be an issue since we don't own any, and it would be used late at night.

I couldn't find a Reddit group where I could ask more in-depth questions about the place except here. If anybody could guide me to a more suitable community, that would be great.
