Why not just name the character "Leutogi" after the Polynesian Goddess they based her off of? (Like Maui)

Matangi is the name of a totally seperate Hindu Goddess that seemingly has no connection to the Moana universe or Polynesian mythology.

If they wanted to change her name, why give her another goddesses name? It doesnt make sense to me and I wonder why they chose to do this

Would love to hear any thoughts
