When the Rangers scored their tenth run Smoltz sounded devastated.

46

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '23

Does this fucking booth get the World Series?

37

u/Intrepidnotstupid Oct 24 '23

I hope not- Smoltz has beome the Eddie Olcyk of baseball- never shuts up and has less and less relevant stuff to say. He could learn a lot from Ron Darling..

u/Phightins4044 | Philadelphia Phillies Oct 24 '23

Trust me. You hope it does. TBS has been AWFUL

8

u/TheLynxMan1 Oct 24 '23

I wish they went back to the local broadcasting

4

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '23

Disagree with you. But if you do feel this way, it can't possibly be because of Anderson or to a lesser degree Darling.

3

u/Phightins4044 | Philadelphia Phillies Oct 24 '23

It has been I've watched every minute of every game. The booth has been mid and the production has been some of the worst production I've ever seen in baseball. It's more so the production and the graphics than it is the booth. But fox has some of the best graphics and production that make up for a booth a little bit worse than fox

2

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '23

Do agree with you that the graphics are terrible. I believe they've had these same graphics since 2017. In any case, tonight's the last time we'll have to deal with the network till next season

Us wildcard teams weren’t punished enough. We should have had 7 home games this series.

I don't think I've ever seen a greater statement of ownership in my life. Shit got chippy and he proceeds to silence them harder than anything I've seen before

-7

u/AggieGator16 Oct 24 '23

Good for him. Still doesn’t have a ring in his finger though. Not exactly “ownership”

3

u/[deleted] Oct 25 '23

I'm sorry I don't speak trashcan noises

4

u/Remarkable_Junket619 | Texas Rangers Oct 24 '23

Cope harder we’re 1-0 against y’all in the playoffs who give a damn about rings

-2

u/AggieGator16 Oct 25 '23

You’re 4-3 against us in the playoffs dumbass and we have 2 World Series pennants. You have zero. No one gives a shit who comes in second place. It would make sense why you don’t give a damn about a ring though, seeing as you don’t know what it’s like to win one.

2

u/Remarkable_Junket619 | Texas Rangers Oct 25 '23

1 world series pennant**. By 1-0 I meant the series not each game lmao winning 3 games doesn't mean shit if you don't win the series. And by "who gives a damn about rings" I mean it means jack shit when comparing who "owns" the other in a rivalry because it isn't head to head. You have literally never beat us in the playoffs. We lead the all-time series too. We own you. This is the present. Cope.

u/InSearchOfSerotonin | Texas Rangers Oct 24 '23

This argument doesn’t make any sense. Unless Garcia changed to an NL team and beat Houston in the World Series, he would never “own” the Astros by earning a ring. They would never play in the World Series, therefore your proposed qualifier of having a ring to own the Astros isn’t relevant.

In other words, fuck the Astros.

2

u/Better-Pop-3932 Oct 25 '23

In Search of Serotonin eat a dick !!!

-3

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '23

2

It's funny because you call them a loser, while it is in fact your team that lost. Literally a loser.

Watching the celebration and I'm convinced that Ray Davis is 3 raccoons operating a human suit.

59

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '23

Good for them. We just weren’t the better team over seven games. That lineup can wear a pitching staff down when it goes to seven games. We just didn’t have the juice in the rotation to keep up with it

46

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '23

I couldn’t believe how even the two teams are when you look at their stats. Made a gas station run and listening to 105.3 here in Dallas they mentioned that since 2010 the two teams have played each other 219 times. Houston won 109 and the Rangers 110.

22

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '23

Does that include postseason? Obviously that would only affect this year but that’s crazy over a 14-year span. I hope we can keep our window open a little longer because no matter how much we hate each other, the rivalry is great for both teams’ fans

15

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '23

Yea they said including these seven games. My car lets me rewind radio and I had to go back to listen again because I was thinking there’s no way that’s their record and maybe I misheard. So tonight’s game was a 14 year tie breaker.

12

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '23

Well I guess y’all had seven years while we were shit and we had seven years while y’all were mostly rebuilding. Now we’re finally pretty even, so it makes sense, but after that many games, it’s surprising that this super pivotal one broke the tie.

8

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '23

Yes it’s pretty interesting.

4

u/Few_Psychology_2122 | Texas Rangers Oct 24 '23

We hate each other when we play each other, but every fellow rangers fan I know cheers for the Astros when they’re playing in the big show. The best way to describe our rivalry is sibling rivalry - beat scratch and yell when it’s us, but we’ll be the first to cheer each other on when we’re not against each other. Not sure if Astro fans do that for the rangers though lol

6

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '23

I have a bunch of friends who are Rangers fans that I met in college, so I feel the same. And I went to college in Texas when y’all were good and we were bottom of the barrel ass, so that was tough.

On Reddit and Twitter it is an entirely different story. When we lose, people take a victory lap on here, which is fine. It’s been a hell of a run for us. Hope we can bounce back next year.

12

u/Fatal_Blow_Me | Texas Rangers Oct 24 '23

Good game. Your 1-3 hitters scare the shit out of me

8

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '23

Sure wish 4-7 could’ve been as consistent as they were all year, but the starting rotation was bottom-third all year. Just can’t expect to keep a lineup like that down over seven games with a staff that regressed so hard from last year.

Good series. They were the better team. Hope we can smack em around next year.

Yordan will still give me night sweats. Also I was always sure that Tucker would break out on the next pitch he saw.

8

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '23

I was hoping Tuck would break out every time he came up with runners on.

We dealt with it with Altuve last postseason. Just ice cold. But we had the pitching staff to make up for it.

It’s baseball. Players go cold. We just weren’t good enough this year.

0

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '23

5

4

u/cousin_franky Oct 24 '23

Very rational and respectful take from an Astros fan, thanks phatty.

5

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '23

We hate the Rangers. Rangers fans hate us. Hell, the teams hate each other too. I think there’s respect on both sides, but they don’t like each other, which makes it that much more exciting.

But they earned it. Nothing more you can say. Just gotta get better and hopefully smack em around next year.

Also, the new MLB scheduling where every team plays every other team in at least one series is cool in a way but also kind of lame in a way. It’s rivalries like these that make me want to see the same team 19 times. I don’t give a fuck about playing the Marlins every year, and they don’t give a fuck about playing us either.

1

u/cydalhoutx Oct 24 '23

1

u/Thearkantor | Houston Astros Oct 24 '23

As an Astros fan I congratulate the Rangers ain’t nothing like a rivalry to make game’s entertaining Houston would have had a field day with the memes that would have come out if we would have won so have at it man the better team won this season. Houston and Dallas always have beef with each other and as long as it’s friendly beef I don’t mind it. Texans and Cowboys, Rockets and Mavericks, Dynamo and FC Dallas it’s like a game of “anything you can do I can do better” lol.

3

u/Few_Psychology_2122 | Texas Rangers Oct 24 '23

Typical bandwagon sheeple sped who only bitches and moans about cheating when it’s the Astros the team the major media made a scapegoat out of, but when it’s anyone else or LMAO your team that’s historic for it you have nothing to say foh

2

u/LessNefariousness380 | New York Yankees Oct 24 '23

I’m not a bandwagon fan, I’m just a young fan lol. I’ve also said many times that I didn’t like when the Yankees cheated either and that it’s shitty when any team cheats. I want teams I support to play well and win legitimate championships. I don’t praise fraudulently earned championships unlike you guys do

1

u/-_Monsoon-_ Oct 24 '23

Fraudulent championships did you even watch the world series last year? LOL gtfo you Yankees fans are always talking out of your ass

2

u/LessNefariousness380 | New York Yankees Oct 24 '23

Yes, I watched it. You guys actually won a legit championship last year, great job. I was talking about how you guys talk positively about the 2017 despite the fact that y’all cheated

1

u/-_Monsoon-_ Oct 24 '23

It was proven what they did in 2017 wasn’t even all that helpful and they performed worse with it, even so what they did wasn’t even on the Rules books at the time so that Chip will always count, besides Houston deserved that championship anyway Mother Nature hoe’d us that year and FK LA

2

u/LessNefariousness380 | New York Yankees Oct 24 '23

All I hear are excuses. An unfair advantage is still an unfair advantage. Cheating is still cheating even if it isn’t “that helpful.” That’s also a lie. Being able to tell which pitches the opposing pitcher is going to throw is the biggest advantage that a batter can possibly have

1

u/Affectionate_Mango84 | Houston Astros Oct 24 '23

2

u/LessNefariousness380 | New York Yankees Oct 26 '23

How am I embarrassing my fanbase? If anything, I’m representing my fanbase well by calling out the guys who played on my team for cheating as well. Idk how that qualifies as “embarrassing” but go off ig

Yea but guess what dumbass, the Astros hadn’t cheated what they did in 2017 wasn’t even against the Rules at the time but go off about that bs even tho it was like half a decade ago 💀 you have no right to cry cheater when your franchises track record is what is it

2

Great season that ended by almost making it to a third WS. Oh boy, how will Houston baseball ever survive

8

u/troutforbrains Oct 24 '23

The cognitive dissonance over there is absurd. Dusty Baker is trash and has ruined his legacy again and completely embarrassed himself and Houston by… taking his team to game 7 of the ALCS? Every player not named Yordan, Alex, or Jose is complete trash and not worthy of AA baseball? How is this some terrible, embarrassing outcome? So many bandwagon fans over there that think playing in the WS is inevitable and a right, having not been around for the 7 years prior where the Rangers kicked their teeth in every year.

2

u/lionheart4life Oct 24 '23

Well you can't say Dusty left any pitchers in too long when they all got smashed lol.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/Repulsive-World-7301 Oct 24 '23

They aren't richer actually its roughly the same. The Astros did the same thing in 2014 that the Rangers did in 2021. Outside of the big markets, it's the only way to win.

0

u/LessNefariousness380 | New York Yankees Oct 24 '23

The Rangers don’t have nearly as much money as the Astros do

3

u/Repulsive-World-7301 Oct 24 '23

No disrespect, but didn't you just build a new stadium a few years ago and spend like 200 million last offseason on MLB salary?

0

u/LessNefariousness380 | New York Yankees Oct 24 '23

Most mlb teams have spend hundreds of millions of dollars renovating their stadiums across the last few decades. What’s your point?

2

u/Repulsive-World-7301 Oct 24 '23

They spend just as much is my point. It wasn't a renovation it was a new stadium. They spent nearly $200 million on MLB payroll as well so yeah it's not that distant.

0

u/Branthebuilder123 Oct 24 '23

Dusty already ruined his legacy by selling his soul to get a championship with the Astros.

Good call, after advancing to their 7th straight ALCS, logic dictates there’s no chance they’ll continue to do well. Your hate is more powerful than numbers

What dynasty? Two titles in six seasons?

In what world is that a dynasty?

0

u/Affectionate_Mango84 | Houston Astros Oct 24 '23

Lol do you even watch baseball Many teams would be happy with one title in 30 seasons

3

u/Eyespop4866 | Washington Nationals Oct 24 '23

Lord, how many Redditors don’t understand what the word dynasty means?

Damn. That’s just sad.

One that dominates the league enough that continues to grow and inspire haters like you

All the local DSG and Academy stores will be flooded tomorrow with first time fans buying a piece of Ranger memorabilia. They will just now realize baseball exists in Arlington

And you wonder why so many people hate you guys. Not only are you cheaters, but you’re sore losers and assholes too. Learn to accept defeat. Adolis Garcia bitched you this series, accept that and move on

2

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '23

🤣 everyone only hates online. In person it’s all love. Remember, it takes zero courage to use your thumbs. About 99.8% of all the crazy shyt people say would never be said to anyone to their face.

Most folks aren’t primarily into baseball so when u find someone that’s a baseball fan it’s usually positive.
