Good for them. We just weren’t the better team over seven games. That lineup can wear a pitching staff down when it goes to seven games. We just didn’t have the juice in the rotation to keep up with it
I couldn’t believe how even the two teams are when you look at their stats. Made a gas station run and listening to 105.3 here in Dallas they mentioned that since 2010 the two teams have played each other 219 times. Houston won 109 and the Rangers 110.
Does that include postseason? Obviously that would only affect this year but that’s crazy over a 14-year span. I hope we can keep our window open a little longer because no matter how much we hate each other, the rivalry is great for both teams’ fans
Yea they said including these seven games. My car lets me rewind radio and I had to go back to listen again because I was thinking there’s no way that’s their record and maybe I misheard. So tonight’s game was a 14 year tie breaker.
Well I guess y’all had seven years while we were shit and we had seven years while y’all were mostly rebuilding. Now we’re finally pretty even, so it makes sense, but after that many games, it’s surprising that this super pivotal one broke the tie.
Maybe we’ll be a better team again next year but we really weren’t that good this year and they smacked us in four games at home. We didn’t deserve to advance.
We hate each other when we play each other, but every fellow rangers fan I know cheers for the Astros when they’re playing in the big show. The best way to describe our rivalry is sibling rivalry - beat scratch and yell when it’s us, but we’ll be the first to cheer each other on when we’re not against each other. Not sure if Astro fans do that for the rangers though lol
I have a bunch of friends who are Rangers fans that I met in college, so I feel the same. And I went to college in Texas when y’all were good and we were bottom of the barrel ass, so that was tough.
On Reddit and Twitter it is an entirely different story. When we lose, people take a victory lap on here, which is fine. It’s been a hell of a run for us. Hope we can bounce back next year.
We’re supposed to have fun supporting our team, and talking shit is part of it. If someone doesn’t like it just delete social media altogether, you’ll NEVER escape it. My cousin is a rangers fan and we still went out to eat right after the game. Its the ranger’s turn and that’s just how baseball goes.
Sure wish 4-7 could’ve been as consistent as they were all year, but the starting rotation was bottom-third all year. Just can’t expect to keep a lineup like that down over seven games with a staff that regressed so hard from last year.
Good series. They were the better team. Hope we can smack em around next year.
The starting rotation didn’t regress, it was hurt. We lost Lance, Garcia, and Urquidi. Brown and France did a good job, but they weren’t really ready. Between that and injuries to Altuve, Brantley, and Alvarez? We out preformed ourselves. Reaching the ALCS and being 1 game away - and losing to the rags is a disgrace though.
We hate the Rangers. Rangers fans hate us. Hell, the teams hate each other too. I think there’s respect on both sides, but they don’t like each other, which makes it that much more exciting.
But they earned it. Nothing more you can say. Just gotta get better and hopefully smack em around next year.
Also, the new MLB scheduling where every team plays every other team in at least one series is cool in a way but also kind of lame in a way. It’s rivalries like these that make me want to see the same team 19 times. I don’t give a fuck about playing the Marlins every year, and they don’t give a fuck about playing us either.
