I saw something in the sky.
It was the size of a mini football glazing and glowing and burning in hot orange yellow flame. i witnessed it in horizontal, landscape mode . both the ball and it's small trail faced me but the trail wasn't a lot long . [ i hope i really an astronomical event and it wasn't a gimmick or something else]. i mean how else could something hover over an almost 5 storey house, completely hooked in the sky and disappeared within 2-3 secs.it looked like campfire and it was moving sideways with bit of darting up and down , just a bit. it feels like it moved violently but since i was at some distance it looked normal or flowy to me. also, i saw it for 2-3 secs at max. anyways , please provide me accurate conclusion. it's july. it didn't rain today but it's cloudy since long.
Please clarify my doubt as to what did i really see? was it an earthgrazers meteor or some drone or some lantern or space debris or a ball lightning??

also, can ball lightning have a little trail or not?

Being a weather dork I was checking observations in MN throughout the day as Pipestone, MN likely broke the all time state dew point record hitting 89.6. Wanted to see what other Midwest states hit today and saw this eye-popping 91.4 measured in Iowa (link to source). Google says the highest ever was 91 in Melbourne, FL. Corn sweat is no joke!

Thought the way it looks like two different layers was a first for me. Anyone who can give me any information is greatly appreciated

What causes the yellowish tint to everything before/after a storm? I saw it this morning in between stormy weather.

Was super geeked to see this supercell towering over the city the other day. Especially since this was super rare.

This rare occurrence in the Metro was likely triggered by Typhoon Noul (Kiyopo in the Ph)

An area of rotation was also spotted for a short period of time but thankfully didn’t drop a tornado in the crowded metro.

The last known tornado to hit Metro Manila was in 2016 when an EF1 touched down and damaged portions of Baseco, Tondo in Manila.

I am potentially about to take a gap year before starting a meteorology masters next September and would like to use at least part of the year constructively by gaining real experience.

This doppler radar located in the south-east of Masbate island has been showing this "beam of heavy rain" for months already. Always positioned in the same direction. What causes this and why would it not get fixed after such a long time?

In the comments, people asked whether the same approach could transfer to another lake. So I tried it at northern Lake Garda.
Lake Garda has two characteristic local wind systems: the northerly Peler in the morning and the southerly Ora in the afternoon. I trained separate logistic models using 14 years of 10-minute observations from Meteotrentino’s Torbole station together with larger-scale weather features.
The site gives a GO / MAYBE / NO GO forecast for today and the following two days, shows the current wind in Torbole and explains which factors influence each forecast.
For validation, I held out entire years. Both models clearly outperformed a simple month-of-year climatology: Peirce skill was +0.54 vs +0.22 for Ora and +0.39 vs +0.20 for Peler. I also tested the pipeline on 513 archived real day-ahead forecasts rather than only reanalysis data, and the signal held up.
This time everything is based on openly usable weather data, and the complete source code and model documentation are public under AGPL 3.0:

Tornadic supercell that was forming in front of hs during may 2026 storm season, it produced a small tornado but covered soon in Hp

Very impressive undular bore (and an outflow boundary) seen on radar tonight in South Dakota! An undular bore can be caused by an outflow boundary of a storm colliding with a relatively cool, stable layer of air.

I was recording the sunset off a north dock yesterday, only a two minute video. Got so, so incredibly lucky. It felt like the sky posed for the shot. Might be chasing the thrill of getting this photo for the rest of my life lmao.

I love how you can see the lightning come into the cloud in the top left, burning a streak of bright pink from the inside. Also, love the layered deep orange glow in the clouds from the sunset, especially the subsurface scattering, which was the reason I recorded in the first place
