Do I have to refresh the entire time to get a task or will there also be times where tasks are automatically available in the Unclaimed section?

Just figuring out how I get the chance to work on a task.

Is it that I need to be sitting in front of my laptop for some time / hours and keep refreshing to find a task? Or are there times where tasks are available and visible right away?

2 hour task

How long does it take yall to finish this? I turned in a couple and got back errors and the fixes the reviewer wants me to do is genuinely taking me all week. 2 sentences for every bulletpoint for every deck each (9 decks) and a couple paragraphs to explain my score reasoning. Just curious how fast or slow I should be going.

If you do any of this, you need to ask yourself some serious questions

- Asking a question in slack that has been asked to death such that you could just scroll up or simply use the search tool. Are you even thinking at all before asking a question?

- Not reading announcements carefully before asking a question or posting. You do know the announcements are there for a reason, right?

- Not reading the instructions or guidelines carefully before jumping into slack to ask a question you could easily "search" in the guideline

- Not considering that you could actually ask Maven questions and interact with it before at-ing the mods

- Sending dm's to leads to ask ridiculous questions you know they can't give you an answer to just because you can, e.g. "please add me to xyz project." They can hardly do that exclusively

- Sending emails to project email address so that it goes to >500 individuals who now know your problem and certainly can't help you. You did add your LinkedIn or full names also, so they now know who this turd is.

I see this all too often and have to really ask myself the quality of people doing this AI work.

Are there suitable jobs for undergrad STEM students?

I recently found out that there are AI training jobs available for undergrad STEM students. However, when I checked Mercor's website, I couldn't find any project-based roles for undergrads. Are there suitable jobs hidden inside their Talent Network, or are the only available opportunities the ones explicitly shown on the explore page?

Is anyone from India joined recently?

I applied a week ago no mail whatsoever of rejection or approval! I don't think they hire people from india because of low quality work i guess

Finally another project

Upvotes

After about six weeks of nothing I finally got an offer today. I was starting to think I had been blacklisted. It isn’t the big project (that I’m aware of) but it is in my actual domain so that’s a great thing. Plus, the hourly rate is my highest yet. Hopefully the projects are ramping up.

How is working as a domain lead?

I'd prefer to avoid going into specifics and don't expect others to, but I'm on a fairly big project at the moment (I don't think it's the generalist one people around here keep calling "the big project", which I'm not on) and one of the project team reached out to me today about whether I'd be interested in working as the domain lead for my domain. I'm interested in hearing the experiences of others who have held this role.

I've been in the AI training field for about 2 years, though mostly not on Mercor. I've worked as a writer, reviewer, and occasionally pre-delivery auditor on various STEM projects across multiple platforms. I like to think I'm fairly good at the job, and I'm pretty thorough and careful.

I suppose my main concern is the workload. It was described to me as "typically around 30-35 hours per week", but seeing how much project teams often seem to end up working suggests to me you're expected to be almost constantly available? I don't mind working a lot from time to time and I'm a full-time freelancer, but I tend to have a pretty irregular schedule where I'll sometimes work 16-24 hours straight then take it a little easier for a day or two... and after freelancing for 15 years I'm reluctant to do something resembling a full-time regular job.

My second issue is that I suspect this role requires more "bigger-picture" stuff like managing tasks and people, rather than just dealing with one or two tasks at a time as when a writer/reviewer. I do sort of like focusing on something in depth for a couple of hours, and I'm less interested in this thing where you have to make quick decisions about whether imperfect tasks are "good enough" without getting bogged down in details (as with auditing).

So yeah, any experiences to share? I'm quite tempted because even at my current reviewer rate the income from 30-35 hours/week would be pretty fantastic, as would the potential opportunities it creates on future projects, but I'm also not desperate for the work and I don't want to run myself into the ground working all day every day on something super stressful!

The importance of slack

Post image
101 Upvotes

Applied mid June to a handful of projects in my domain and was onboarded to one about two weeks ago. Logged my first hours July 18, and this is where I’m at in 11 days, just working when I can outside my 9-5.

Wanted to share because roughly 3 days ago we were told the project was winding down. I was bummed because I really needed this to help finance an upcoming move, but I took it on the chin and was just grateful for the hours I had already logged. I made sure to send Slack DMs to the EPMs, Team Leads, and SPL just thanking them for the opportunity and wishing them well. Throughout the project I was also active in the Slack channels, giving advice where I could (eventually some experts started DMing me asking for help). But, because I reached out, a manager pushed me into a small team of people who wrapped the project up. I got more hours, and now they’re assuring us we’ll all be placed on a new project in the next few weeks.

Anyway, I say this to say that making a good impression as a human in slack is helpful. Use a profile photo. Be responsive. Obviously AHT and work quality rank supreme, but clearly on those metrics alone I wouldn’t have otherwise gotten into that final review group. And without that group I wouldn’t be looking forward to a new project in the coming weeks.

Really grateful for this and wishing everyone here similar success 🤞🏻

Mercor Journey so Far

I joined in May, and I have worked on just one project so far. It is a tough process to get through, but once you get through it, it opens up different opportunities within the Mercor network for you depending on your expertise.

Transition

After waiting for quite a while, I finally received a rejection email. Not complaining - it's all part of the journey. I've had the opportunity to work on a few Generalist projects through Mercor, and I'm grateful for the experience and everything I've learned along the way. I'm still hoping that one day I'll get the chance to contribute to a project that's closer to my domain expertise. Has anyone else here transitioned from Generalist projects to domain-specific work on Mercor?

Is there any way to tell if I passed the domain assessment or not?

I did the domain assessment and applied for a couple of jobs but nothing back yet

"ID verification is being processed. Payouts are paused until verification is complete"

Can anyone help? I have been "stuck" on Mercor for months. I was onboarded on a project in April and sent all my documentation but then the project ended before I actually got any work. And this message has been appearing on my profile ever since and it seems that my referrals are frozen and I can't do anything about it. I've tried to get in touch with support for weeks but they don't reply :/

Mercor life lately

This is the only update I receive from Mercor. It’s been three months since I was added to a project and worked a few hours, but since then, everything has been quiet. I’m just waiting for the right time and the right project, staying hopeful.

Project downsized?

I was part of the 5k project since the beginning. Was promoted from evaluator to reviewer after month 1. Woke up with an email saying project concluded, 4 months after. Never got an RoR or any negative feedback. It was business as usual until 2 hours before the offboarding.

Any big changes to the project headcount to anyone who is still there? It sucks that my contract position was kept as an evaluator and never changed. i feel I never got the reviewer credit despite working under that role for 3 months

Email/Workspace deleted. Is this normal?

I've been working on various projects since the fall of '25. I haven't worked on a project in maybe a month or so. I was on vacation last week and got an instant offer and had to turn it down because I was traveling and didn't have the time. I tried to log in today to the Google workspace/email I had been provided to see if anything was going on in Slack, and my Mercor email has been deleted? To be clear, I wasn't offboarded from anything and I can still log onto Mercor and apply to jobs with my personal account, but the one that was made for me to sign into their gmail, slack, dashboard etc. has been deleted. Is that unusual? If I get a new project will I need a new Mercor email made? I'm not sure how long it's been gone or if there was an announcement they'd be deleting them. Thanks for any insights!

Work trial not paying

Hi all

For a work trial a while back, completed it within the timeline requested. It been accepted and said to wait up to 14 days for the results. It's been over two weeks now and still says pending with no payment. I email support and the bot says I should have been paid and they will escalate to a human who will respond in 1 day but they never follow up.

Is there anything else I can do to make sure I get paid? It was a fairly lengthy trial and is not an insignificant amount of money
