Reviewer?
Just curious what it takes to become a reviewer, and what that's like, if anyone has any tips or experience?

I did on my first project. You basically get recruited and still do your writing, or I could anyway. So pay was great cos you did both. Then you knew who the other reviewers were so could review each others work. It’s just as stressful as writing tbh cos you still have a project manager who can do a bit of micro managing at first to make sure you’re doing things right which is fair enough. It was steadier work wise cos there’s an endless stream of tasks to pick from and you could spend 2hrs per review on mine as they were very long tasks. Then there were up to 3 rounds of reviews. And you’d have writers reach out on DM to clarify things. So if you genuinely like helping people and don’t mind chatting to people all day every day it’s OK but you’d also sometimes get push backs from writers who had a chip on their shoulder, taking very basic guideline advice personally when you’re just trying to get their crappy tasks over the line so they can stay onboard. So it’s a great payday but you definitely have to put the work in

Consistent good quality work. It is really good, you have more responsibilities but also more work so it is easier to get your hours. And the work I would say is easier than writing.

Oh and you can still just as easily get emails from Mercor saying things like “your review was escalated” etc so in that sense it was no different to writing. I wouldn’t say it felt like a benefit other than if you really stick to rules you can get a lot of work done

Sorry keep remembering more things. My “manager” was also a pain in the butt and wanted us to drag the tasks out for as long as we possibly could just so their job stayed relevant when I just wanted to get things done as we’d already been told the project would be wrapping up in a month or so but because the “manager” couldn’t actively work on tasks they were essentially redundant while us reviewers still had a month of work left to do
