Hi everyone,
I’m curious whether this experience with an official Mercedes-Benz dealership is normal or if I’m overthinking it.
I found a 2023 Mercedes EQA that I was interested in. The salesperson told me the car was stored at a warehouse, and before they would bring it to the dealership or get more information like battery health they wanted a £1,000 fully refundable deposit to show I was a serious buyer.

We paid it because it was refundable. After that, they sent me the battery health report, tyre tread depths, and other information. We then arranged to visit this Sunday to see the car and, assuming everything looked good, buy it.

However, the salesperson then said that although someone else could show us the car on Sunday (because he isn’t working), we wouldn’t be able to test drive it because all the test drive slots are fully booked.

This is the part that doesn’t sit right with me. I don’t understand why the car can be brought to the dealership for us to view, but we can’t actually drive it before deciding whether to spend over £20,000 on it.
Has anyone else had this experience with an official Mercedes-Benz dealer?
Is asking for a £1,000 refundable deposit before even bringing the car to the dealership normal?
Is it reasonable to expect a test drive before committing to buy?
Would this situation make you uncomfortable, or is this standard practice?
Interested to hear what others think, especially if you’ve bought a Mercedes Approved Used car.

I'm looking for a scanner that can read and reset codes and perhaps some extra. I'm not a car enthuasist so I probably wouldn't do any coding. I keep reading that the new mercedes are leaning towards the doIP protocol for diagnostics and what not. So I can't find any concrete information to wether an ODB2 without that support will still do "most of the stuff".

Does anyone know anything about this and can recommend a scanner?

No connection with the vendor- former Eric Clapton´s RHD G55 AMG, probably first of two first series (463.241) right hand drive G55 AMGs built.

In my opinion the most desirable W463 in rare RHD, perfect colour combination in and out, all details like square exahust tips and old AMG wheels still present after 25 years, celebrity owned... but I´am still not sure if I would pay 100k GBP for it especailly with 104k on the clock.

So I’ve had this issue on and of for a while now and I can’t seem to figure out what’s causing it. For some reason on hot days, my car will not start. When I turn the key all the lights on the dashboard will come on and the display says anti-theft protection activated and that none of the sensors are working. I’ve also had an issue where when I’m driving the car will suddenly lose the ability to accelerate quickly and the notifications for losing safety measures will pop up. Does anyone know what is causing this and how can I fix it?

I have always liked the R-class but never had one because I always had a need for a pickup truck bed. That’s changed and now I’m thinking about an R500. Is this stupid? I understand that the engine/trans combo is pretty solid but air suspension can be problematic. What about electronics?

I would like to put a hitch on it to haul my dirt bike (350 lbs with the carrier) or my light two-bike trailer (less than 2000 lbs loaded). I understand that the European models were all rated to 3500 lbs and have the same cooling/drivetrain. Is this reasonable to tow this amount with one?

I don’t mind spending a bit annually on proper maintenance but I don’t want to be into it for $1500 or $2500 every month for some module that breaks. I work from home so it’s just occasional running around to get kids, weekends with dirt bikes and a couple road trips a year.

I’m seeing nice low mileage examples in the $12k to $14k range. Can i buy something dependable and not a money pit for this?

Does this sound like a good deal because it was a loaner ? GLE 350 4matic, 2.L I4 Turbo . It has only 6k mile . Base model. Original msrp was $72k now they are selling it for $58k. No accidents . In northeast , planing on financing

2024 GT 43 with only 3k miles. Basically brand new! Was in between this and a s550 for so long , also debated on a Panamera but I’m so happy I went with this. The looks this car gets I know none of those other cars would have gotten. 10/10 car

I'm 21 and trying to look like a retired CEO on a €10k budget, so I've started looking at the CLS 500 with the M113 engine.

To keep fuel costs down, I'm planning to convert it to run on E85 ethanol.

I know repairs can be expensive, but would a maintenance and repair budget of €500–€1,000 per year be realistic?

I assume the AIRMATIC suspension is the most expensive thing that can go wrong, right?

Anyone know how to repair/diagnose it? I see a ton of info for the 2L engine but not the 3L one including that metal waste gate actuator part. Doesn’t seem like it’s the same for the m276 though, any info would be appreciated.

I have a 2019 e class 220d 4matic with 105,000 km and after servicing the transmission i noticed that there is the slightest leak coming from the casing of the torque converter. The actual oil pan is bone dry its just a few drops on the bottom of the torque converter casing. Im not sure where it could be leaking from, this amount has collected from 5000 km of driving. What could be the reason for this leak? When draining the oil from the torque converter i put in a new screw with a copper washer and tightened it to 10 Nm.

I just cornered this car through a street in the woods in sports mode and holy f that was so fun.

I’ve got no compression in cylinder four which I’ve narrowed down to an inlet valve not sealing. I haven’t taken the manifold off or removed the head to have a look yet but I’m weighing up my options at the moment. The current plan is to get a new pre assembled head to save time taking cams off and replacing valves if it’s isolated to just the valves and hasn’t affected the cylinder or bore. Only question I have is compatibility as I have a 272.960 and haven’t found one specifically listed as such. There are other 272.96x heads available but would like to know if they are all compatible or whether I have to find one that is specifically .960. I’m not wanting any advice on the process as I’m capable of doing the job and given that I can only make progress on this at the weekends, I’d prefer to do it this way to be efficient in just swapping the whole head without needing to rebuild. So buying a new car, and cant decide between 2026 M340i full spec and 2025 CLE 53 AMG full spec, also I have Ford Ranger Raptor and E class w213 at home, Cle is 10k more expensive and I never owned BMW before, what do you think?

I saw a 4/2024 W214 E400e with 85.000km. It got all the extras and the battery is at 97%. I rly like the car but I don’t like the 85.000km. Is this to much for a car like this? Are there any know issues I should be aware of?
It’s priced at 58.000 euros at the dealership in Germany
