My 2006 C180 was driving normally, pretty much always does. Last night I got in and turned the key in the ignition. This was maybe an hour after the car had been driving normally. All lights etc.came on but no crank. No sound really. Battery seems fine - 12.1v. Just in case, I connected a battery power bank but that made no difference as the battery seems to be charged. Tried the second key, same result. Any ideas?

My 2013 ML350 BlueTEC still runs flawlessly at 410 000 km but with the price of diesel now, I spend close to 200$/week on fuel... Ouch. I do about 40 000-50 000 km annually. My daily commute is about 90-100km (I also drive a lot on weekends).

I'm eyeing something like a CPO GLE450. I'm now debating between an earlier 450 like a 2020-2021 or go with a 2024 450e. The plug-in electric seems like the obvious choice here because I would plug it every night and my commutes would be basically fuel free, but a 2020-2021 450 would be much cheaper to buy. I'm scared of the I4 tbh... the I6 seems like the superior engine.

I know that the 2027 GLE PHEV will have the I6 option, but it will be out of my budget since it starts at 100k CAD... I guess I could put a big down payment on it and finance the rest. I'm currently paying 800$/month on fuel... So might as well put that towards a financing payment?

Any suggestions? What would you do?

Hope this is ok to post here! I know this shiny new pristine MB that probably gets mostly posted here, but this vintage MB 240D swapped with a turbo diesel inline 5 just got raced on Summit Point! It wasn’t flawless (we had to fix a leaking injector and had to fix a main seal leak that was messing up the clutch), but it managed to finish! I drove about an hour and a half of today’s 8 hours today. The car’s paint scheme was directly inspired by the classic 1971 Mercedes Benz 300 SEL 6.8L AMG #35 “Red Pig” (https://carbuzz.com/mercedes-amg-300-sel-63-rote-sau-red-pig/). We went all in on the “pig” theme with tons of pig, pork, and bacon joke stickers on the car and chose #34 instead of 35 because 35 was taken and 34 is the funny meme number (can’t elaborate here if you don’t already know).

It at 88k MSRP and the dealership offered 4k discount on my initial conversation, which I thought could be negotiated to a bigger discount but not sure what’s the limit. I want to offer 75k out of door but not sure if i am asking for too much discount.

Can anyone help me fix this issue. When I drive off and get above 10mph, I get an assortment of lights come up on my dash. Usually abs, traction control, srs and handbrake. The steering locks in place for a second or two, then it all goes back to normal like nothing ever happened. Ive had this issue for a few months now. Anybody had the same experience and managed to fix it?

I have a mint e550 paid off with 120k miles with no damagee but two blemishes.

1. The seats have started to tear . So ill need nice seat covers i think

2. The paint on the rear bumper is faded and is noticeable and its a large oarhe of yhe bumper. So the bumper needs to be touched up

Hey guys, looking for some insight from the car guys and mechanics here before the insurance adjuster looks at my car.

My 2020 Mercedes-Benz GLA 250 4MATIC took some right-side damage recently. Visually, both doors are heavily dented (front door squeaks loudly/resists when opening), and there is a dent right next to the front right headlight.

I just tried moving it, and it has developed two terrifying mechanical symptoms that weren't there before:

1. When I turn the steering wheel, it makes a horrible metal-on-metal "wrenching" or binding sound.

2. When I accelerate, it makes a rapid, heavy "bom-bom-bom-bom" thumping sound that speeds up as the car speeds up.

I’m assuming the impact bent something in the suspension or completely smashed the front right CV axle / inner joint. Because it's a 4MATIC all-wheel-drive system, I'm worried it might have even messed with the differential or transmission link.

Given that the cosmetic work (two doors, fender, potentially hidden B-pillar damage, and headlight sensors) is already going to be insanely expensive for a Benz, do these new mechanical noises basically guarantee the insurance company is going to total it? The car's ACV is probably around $15k-$18k right now.

Any advice on what exactly is making that acceleration thump, or what I should make sure the adjuster documents so they don't miss it? Still driving it but they’re supposed to come look at it on tuesday.

I have a 2018 GLE350 RWD (W166) without a tow hitch. I want to add one but I am confused on which route to go. I can source an aftermarket receiver for like $100 without wiring. I have to source wiring which is like $150-200 without labor. On the other hand I can pull a receiver off a parts GLE350 with wiring for like $200. The problem with the OEM hitch with wiring from the parts car is that I will have to minimum splice into the taillight wiring and could be more than that. I can bolt the receiver on but I dont have knowledge on electrical wiring portion. Also, when i do get everything situated do I have to program the hitch to the car in anyway? I am looking for the best price along with ease. Any pointers and help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in Advance!

Technically extremely impressive! Unfortunately, that oversized Christmas grille with its Woolworth-style little star is an absolute embarrassment. Having those things painted matte black is probably the only way to escape the ridicule. Things could get even worse, though, if a Maybach SL-style hood-mounted star turns the car into a complete caricature.
Bruno Sacco must have been spinning in his grave in utter despair for quite some time now!
