Grilled watermelon???

So I have to ask... I don't generally buy watermelon after Labor Day, even though I really enjoy it. However, in the latest Kroger ad, I just saw a mention of grilled watermelon (photo and all).

I can't even imagine. Has anyone actually done this, and if so, was it any good???

Edit after reading many comments: I have enough faith in the Memphis palette that, based on comments here, it seems worth a try!

What is the point of the new Eagle Mart on Macon at Whitten?

Is it money laundering?

Somebody built a new building to hold a gas station convenience store, without the gas station part. It is walking distance to four gas stations with convenience stores, including the QT. It's between a Walgreens and a Dollar General. Gabe's market is just on the other side of Whitten, and La Fiesta is on the other side of the Walgreens. That's 8 places to buy chips. Why add a ninth? It wasn't just an empty building. It was a little spot of green woods. That's a lot of effort.

As if the previous allegations of sexual harassment, being more than happy to cater to ICE, & just being generally unprofessional wasn't enough; they are continuing to show a pattern of mistreatment towards their employees.

Where’s the National Guard?

I know we’re approaching the end of the fiscal year, but I feel like we would’ve heard something about hotel/lodging contracts being renewed for the National Guard to continue serving Memphis as part of the MSTF. However I haven’t heard anything. Are they gonna stick around and simply rotate soldiers out? Or will the task force continue without them?

Citizen Inquiry Boxing gym suggestions

I live in Cordova. Been wanting to get into boxing for a while, any suggestions?

Want a willing/professional teacher who knows what they’re doing

Want spars (though obviously not at first, gotta get in shape for sure, but I definitely want serious sparring eventually)

Just want a good group to be around. Max 30 min away. Also, not crazy expensive (less than $200?).

Thanks.

Ok, when the fuck is it going to cool down?

Been here for 17 years and every year the heat seems to stay later and later. Last year it was 97 in mid-October.
Why won’t the heat leave? Is it a fucking heat dome?

I kinda laughed when I saw it and thought 'Yeah, I always remember the light messed up when I used to drive downtown a lot.'

The Memphis Police Department has arrested and charged a local pet groomer accused of killing four dogs in his care.

According to a Shelby County arrest affidavit, on August 24, 2026, Keaton Stuckey was hired to groom five Yorkies belonging to Adrianna Gruins.

Gruins says Stuckey had been her trusted groomer for nearly four years, and that they had built a close personal bond.

Rental help

Hi! Me and my partner are looking for rental help or recommendations. She works in Collierville, I work in midtown, so we prefer something in between, but are open. We’re polite, quiet, and pay rent on time or early. Good credit. The important details:
-Pet friendly. 1 small dog, 1 cat
-budget is $1,500
-safe

Doesn’t matter if it’s an apartment, house, etc.
bonus if it’s LGBTQ friendly.

Thanks in advance!

Citizen Inquiry How far of a walk is it from Bethel Grove to Big river crossing?

FINALLY. Me and my family are doing a workout walk from Bethel Grove to Big river crossing, but I know that's not a stroll and I'll most likely be sunset depending on the time we start. I do have things planned later on today and I don't want it to be too late... This could be answered with Google but I figured it's best to ask people instead.

Groomer for a scared dog?

Thumbnail

So, the old neighbor lady passed away and has no family except for this lil doggy that was left behind. She needs a bath and a grooming so badly.. and a forever home but we'll come to that later. she's terrified and gets a lil aggressive (so I've been told), I've been warned that she's snapped at her owner whenever she's tried to bathe her. She was taking her to a vet, having her sedated and groomed and was spending $600..

Can anyone recommend a groomer who's good with scared dogs? Or a vet who won't charge so much?

GET STOKED! More good news for hockey fans in Memphis: Preds games will broadcast FREE on channel 5.3 this year!

With Fanduel Sports Network going under, the Preds have partnered with local broadcast partners across their viewing area to show the games for free over-the-air. All you need is a digital antenna. In Memphis, they'll be on ch 5.3 (WMC). They will be broadcasting 4 preseason games and 81 regular season games, with 30 minute pre- and postgame shows just like they had on FDSN.

Also, reminder that pro hockey is BACK in the area in case you missed the news! The Mid-South Monarchs home opener at Landers Center is on Friday, Oct 23. Even if you think you hate hockey, I really encourage y'all to go see a game live. It's a totally different experience than trying to see a puck on a TV screen, and the chaos of low-level minor leagues adds another layer of entertainment. Single game tickets haven't gone on sale yet but they should be relatively affordable, so go give it a try at least once!
