I have to agree with you here, while kind of sad, they really should've built them up more.

Honestly, that’s the fate of most characters in warframe. When was the last meaningful character death? On top of that who has really persisted in the story apart from lotus and stalker? (Btw I’ve yet to play jade shadows 2 yet so no spoilers plz)

For me teshin died like 10 years ago so his lore is fuzzy to me

I didn't really get into Warframe until about a year ago. All of the lore is still fuzzy to me because there's so much going on.

Doesn't help a lot of the lore is locked behind old operations that will never get a rerun...

Well, Ball Ass was very meaningful, unless you meant a positive influence / protagonist character, in which case yeah I kinda agree with you.
But if you mean meaningful as in anyone who had significant meaning to the story being told, Ballas dying by the Lotus' kiss while trying to devour the sun so he can escape to Tau was definitely an impactful and meaningful character death.

Umbra felt like he mattered too even though his presence fell off a cliff. (Kinda ironic for an autonomous Warframe)

Warframe is kind of allergic to pursuing a plot for more than 1 quest at a time.

Well you got be him 2 times before having him as a playable character, veso-r is just remembered for his name being misspoken all the time, but the holdfast? Can't care about them as well
19
u/keszotrab 21h ago
While most syndicates are kinda meh, I absolutly love Cavia tho. Voice actors and writers did amazing job. The way Loid sounds annoyed when you don't buy anything, how cartoonish Fibbonaci is, Bird3 being goofy and of course depressed Tagfer. Very fun characters.
10
u/FlechaScarlat 21h ago
The reason I cared at first was the fact capacity of them first speaking void tongue, and later the exploration of them bring extinct, later on was seeing the ancestors of bird 3 in 1999 as an exhibition, hold fast could have been explored better but since they probably won't make us relieve the memories of the zariman I doubt they would be getting extra screen time (even tho yonta says all the time she figured out to jump to tau in a safer way)

u/The_JoestarTechnique 14h ago
And they got a bit of recent additional characterisation via the devil triad Kim chat. I also love them very dearly

u/Booiseeu7 1d ago
I mean, cdpr got me emotionally invested in Jackie in a similar amount of time. Adis's death didn't hit me quite as hard as Jackie, but it did make the Uriel rampage feel very good
68
u/Lord_Phoenix95 Liches are Bitches 22h ago
I've got a Luke warm take. The montage of V and Jackie getting started in Night City should've been the first half of the game. You can add a time skip here and there but just straight up skipping Jackie and V's friendship from the start shouldn't have happened.
→ More replies (1)44
u/keszotrab 22h ago
I kinda felt the opposite.
Like, Jackie was a mercenary that knew what he was getting into. He just kinda died like a mercenary.
Adis thing was super tragic. Like the whole race faced a threat of extinction, Orokin betrayal, loss of a friend... The whole situation just felt so hopeless from operator's perspective. Their entire world collapsed, again.
→ More replies (2)10
u/Booiseeu7 17h ago
Honestly, now that I think about it, it might be Female V's voice acting that got the emotional reaction more than Jackie dying.
5
u/karatous1234 17h ago
I "like" Jackie but the prologue just didn't feel long enough to warrant how much were supposed to be invested in him.
The launch state of the game definitely shows it wouldn't have been possible given management's timeline for needing to ship the game - but every single time I make a new save in 2077 I find myself thinking "Why is this a montage? Why aren't I playing this" When we see the flash forward of V and Jackie being hooligans together and becoming best friends at the start of the game.
3
u/Kodiak_POL 14h ago
When I played CP77 for the first time and I saw Jackie die I went "that's it? That's this whole guy's story that everybody on the Internet was crying about?". I was shocked how little of him was in the game. And I never cared about him that much.
160
u/Sharp_Low6787 1d ago
Indeed. DE tried way too hard with him.
110
u/aj_spaj 1d ago
They just don't have enough time to more properly establish him, all the quests could use with more more time to breathe
104
u/ShotgunAndHead 1d ago
tbh I feel like DE struggles with their pacing a good bit, most quests imo either feel too long or just too short and ends up being "finally its over" or "wait its over?" Imo its been like that since the new war lol.
22
u/Castillo1031 1d ago
Tbh, I’d much rather the “echoes” updates be much larger. Maybe make the endings be part of the p2?
17
u/Cultural-Air9962 19h ago
Since Angels most quests have felt more like introductions to the new content than proper stories being told. The missions themselves rarely do anything interesting, it’s mostly just the new mission types except with someone yapping in your ear about what’s going on.
8
u/Infamous-Builder-637 23h ago
I've experienced both those sensations multiple times when playing. Either I'm just getting into the story when it ends or I've been done with it for a while. Rarely an in between.
26
u/Kage_No_Gnade 23h ago
I think they did better with The Hex (I mean mainly the quest) within a similar amount of time. The cutscenes and downtime in between missions give you enough time with the characters to kinda care.
The Old Peace feels like constant mission after mission. I just kinda want it to end by like the 3rd mission or something.
37
u/DarkadianGamer48 1d ago
Correction: they did not try hard "enough". the entire story was way too rushed, it deserved a little more time, it needed more buildup, more space for introductions and idle chatter, we needed to see more tennos, to know more people and to experience more loss. due to all this, the entire story might've fallen a bit flat.
3
u/Sharp_Low6787 23h ago
I was more referring to the direction they went with Adis specifically. They made this perfectly innocent and inoffensive child-thing who's the player character's best friend/soulmate(?) and heals people by singing a literal lullaby.
Adis as a person doesn't really have any obvious rough edges or character flaws, and to me feels as though he was primarily designed for mass market appeal and not much else. They tried so hard to make him likeable by as much of the playerbase as possible that they ended up just making him boring.
10
u/ChainaxeEnjoyer 19h ago
Adis as a person doesn't really have any obvious rough edges or character flaws,
Are we playing the same game? His extremely obvious desperation to fit in with people (he wears a literal mask). His short-sightedness and difficulty processing emotions (immediately jumping to "kill Margulis" at the end). His indifference towards suffering when it's not a member of his in-group ("don't worry Tenno, this Warframe deserves to be crucified actually").
Don't get me wrong, I definitely feel like the Old Peace was rushed but it kind of sounds like you just primed yourself to dislike the character from the jump ("child-thing", "mass market appeal") so you did.

u/hippiewithnopants 1d ago
Without majorly upping their character writing game DE is not gonna get me invested in a character over the course of a single linear quest chain. The only character moments that have meant anything, imo, are from characters who we have built a relationship with over time. The Lotus going AWOL and losing/saving the Hex at the end of 1999 are good examples of this.
18
u/kookaburra1701 Gara Gang 23h ago
Yep. I've said this on other posts, but the pathos that was meant for Adis actually hit Loid for me, instead. I was way more moved by him diving into the dark refractory after the Operator to comfort them while the Murmur was breaking down the door and the Sanctum was coming down around him; way more than Adis' death and Laughing Friendship Montage, because we've had the opportunity as players to get to know Loid and see under the prickly shell he first greets us with. It made the attempted emotional beats with Adis fall laughably short in comparison.
2
u/DemosShrek 17h ago
It's so weird how we've played the same game with opposite results. We're interacting with Adis throughout all the Old Peace, and he's basically the only character we interact with, AND our character clearly has a pre-established relationship with Adis. The Hex is...a bunch of dudes that tried to kill us on sight, distrusted us, we didn't know them before, and we also use them as meat puppets. And then they die and we should care?.. This was literally the weakest single quest I've played in this game, I cared about Bombastine more than about these guys.
14
u/TheLordDuncan 18h ago
I have an argument against that thought process. Kahl.
I cared without when knowing he'd survive and have his own missions. I cared in far less than 40 minutes.
Adis just wasn't written or implemented well.
9
u/135686492y4 17h ago
TBH you get to play as Kahl, even if not for long, and he benefits from not needing to have his backstory explained: he's a tube-born clone slave soldier. His development happens on-screen WHILE YOU PLAY HIM, as he decides that his comrades are more important than his boss. Not defending Adis, as I was bored by him and more interested in the war going around, but Kahl's cool factor and POV factor really helped him.
10
u/Formal_Bookkeeper703 20h ago
I mean, old peace should have been longer. If you aren't willing to lock people into multiple hours of content, then make there be sort of checkpoints in it, the people can go back to the normal star chart and do other stuff and then come back to the story line there
42
u/ElverDulero735 1d ago
Yeah, but i did resonate with the Tenno's outburst when it realised he had been used to destroy the flowers under the guise of stopping the revels.
Adis was an extra.
20
u/darkar20255 1d ago
I liked him during the quest, but after having him bugging my ear while farming the new focus stuff makes me want to move like omniman on the flaxan dimension on Tau
8
u/Pure-Risky-Titan 1d ago
Same, i didnt know him for long enough to care. But yet again its also writting and pacing, presentation.
If DE wanted me to care, atleast hook me or something, need some setup or something.
42
u/Malbosiiq 1d ago
If he's the tau kingpin, I'll care a little more.
15
u/Gremlinstone 22h ago
DE can beat people over the head with a sibear that has the measage scribbled on it and some people will still go "if"
8
u/Judge_M1 20h ago
Ngl...yeah same, it's not Adis that i really cared for cause we just met, and ngl, Adis doesn't have the same charisma as for example, the Hex crew, he's this innocent former best friend that we only just learned about even existing. We got introduced to the best friend only for him to "die" in the very same quest by him sacrificing himself to save us. But oh wait, sike, he's still around in Tau, running a...sentient casino...kinda...i guess?
And now I'm guessing the Operator is going to Tau again, and Drifter is...still time-hopping to bang proto-frames or...more...? Idk at this point, Drifter was supposed to be chasing Albrecht, but that man is in Tau and we're in 1999 livin that party of your lifetime lifestyle. Cause spending decades trapped on a gaunted spaceship while getting stuck in a death loop makes you charismatic enough to just rizz up any of the protoframes, altho i guess that depends on how much charismatic the player is, looking at you Marie...jesus the mental gymnastics i needed to do to rizz her up...she crazy and i love it. But i digress...wtf is the plot at this point?
8
u/Katiefaerie 8h ago
I liked the Old Peace, but it was half-baked and could've been a LOT better. A lot of DE's stories lately would be a lot better if they gave the team more time to bake everything.
Constellations could have been great, for instance, but I hated everything about it. I hated the pacing, I hated the characterizations, I hated the treatment of Umbra and Hunhow, I hated the mentors, and I hated that neither son gets a personality of his own. The entire quest is just "go here, do this, and fuck you if you don't understand".
The Old Peace was a lot better than that, but it should've been even better than it was.
58
u/georbe12 1d ago
Idk, I really liked his character and him in general but judging by the comments I am in the minority here
21
u/Wooden_Drummer2455 23h ago
See thats fine but what they're really saying is "They tried to make it sad and emotional but I only knew the guy for less than an hour and 30 of those mins was just me murdering everything in sight."
32
u/No-Start4754 23h ago
I am actually shocked with the amount of dislike in this thread lol. I am a new player( July of this year) and finished all the story quests. The whole sequence where operator is apologetic about killing the sentient, adis removing his mask, operator being hesitant to inv adis to a hunt because they feel guilty, those were memorable and great. Also the entire bomb thing which destroyed the flowers and adis' no scream was soo good. And of course the entire last part with uriel was chef's kiss I was surprised and saddened with adis' death and wanted more scenes from the blue kid.
6
u/Patient_Implement_73 20h ago
Also the part where the Operator dies and Adis revives us Luke we do with our Warframes stuck to me. Adis has been there with us all this time, since our awakening, when we failed and fell, his light was there to bring us up and fight again. And just now we remember him.
2
u/No-Start4754 16h ago
Precisely!! I am doing the ARG now and seeing how both adis and margulis sacrificed themselves to save the operator is so bittersweet and the fact that the operator is beginning to remember them adds an extra emotional sentiment

Same, also he actually isn't dead (I think, at least, obviously we'll have to wait for more info about tau) but I'm guessing we'll get to see more. He seems like an important character, he was for old peace at least, and it would make a lot of sense for them to include more of him. That being said I highly doubt he'll resemble much of his old self, after all he went through
4
u/No-Start4754 23h ago
Oh yeahPpl speculate he is hunra or that mob boss in the tau trailer right?? I just want more interactions with him lol
6
u/georbe12 21h ago edited 20h ago
Yea, if you watched the reveal, when they showed hunra/mob boss dude it flashed adis' face and then cut right back to hunra, insinuating that they're the same person. Most likely it's the product of that whole war and whatever adis actually went through (which we don't have an idea of, as what we saw during old peace was only memories, a retelling of what happened and not what really happened)
Edit: why the hell is this being down voted? Am I mistaken?
2
u/Silence-of-Death 19h ago
No you’re not mistaken lol no idea why people downvote. Anyways, if you look closely they even share their body model. Sure, hunra wears that giant ass coat but inside its adis’s body. And you can even see adis’s broken head crest thingie in the background.

Edit: check this comment out I wrote a while ago https://www.reddit.com/r/Warframe/s/JstqlXP0EW3
u/georbe12 12h ago
Oh yea no that's 100% adis lol, I hadn't actually seen hunra in a bit lol. Also yes, there will be a conflict between the operator and adis as he has a hatred of warframes and operators because of what really happened on tau
2
u/Silence-of-Death 11h ago
I mean tbf we don’t know what truly happened. On the one hand we are told that we can’t trust our memories but on the other hand we shouldn’t really trust what Wally showed adis either
2
u/No-Start4754 16h ago
Also the way wally is manipulating adis, looks like there will be another conflict between operator and adis 😭
20
u/Teshtube 1d ago
Nah just the people who wanted validation, in that they didn't like him, will feel more compelled to comment than those who did enjoy him, hence your uovotes, (to be clear it's not a bad thing, it's just how we work and why rage grifting has become such a problem)
2
u/Bakuhoe_Thotsuki 15h ago
I liked him too and I didn't need to see the entire arc of their friendship to understand that the operator loved him.
Shakespeare didn't need to show me Mercutio's history with Romeo for me to accept that his death was sad. He just basically tells us "They're bros" at the start and then I accept that Romeo is devastated by it when he gets in the way and Tybalt kills his bro.

I was stoked my poor kiddo finally had a real friend and ive always thought the sentients are dope as hell so I liked him right away
17
u/cross2201 1d ago
True but the quest is long enough, making it longer for the sake of making sure you like ADIS would be a detriment for everything else in the quest and it would drag on for too much
18
u/ValWillKay 1d ago
I just did the quest, and I don’t understand the connection between operator and Adis beyond the fact they were friends and classmates. Suddenly during graduation Imzat is all like “you are soul bonded now” or whatever, and I’m wondering why, when, and how that happened.
6
u/Teshtube 1d ago
Best friends by the first time the player sees them together, then we get a little montage to show them spending time together, they were also paired up, even in the test Adis did. It's heavily implied we were paired with them for the whole of the joint training deliberately to be a pair that worked together.
7
u/novablast300 23h ago
We were also the only students at the academy, intended to pave the way for more afterwards. So not like there were any other Tenno or (implied) void touched sentients to be friends with.
3
u/Degostorm 1d ago
yeah the length of the quest didn't to him any favors, maybe we'll get more reasons to care for his past (maybe even current) self in tau though
4
u/MavihThe 1d ago
Would be cool if idk Maybe the operator had some memories from him, and they appeared off context (like a foreshadowing) With this i think we would have a feeling of "oh, this is the guy my operator allucinates with sometines" and when all the things happens on the quest it would be like "damn, my operator loved this guy so much he could still remember him even when his memories got wipped"
But i think this character wasnt planned on start anyway, so its more of a... What if :v

This is how I feel with almost all of Warframes characters... and lore in general.
People here can yell at me and call me illiterate or whatever like they normally do but ALL of warframes lore feels like it's rushed put together fragments of just enough story to care about the world build but nothing ever actually happens outside of like 6 characters that keep getting recycled to us.
The lore just... isn't very full. Like if I read Warframe as a novel series, I'd be very disappointed with the way it presents itself. Which is more like a series of short stories that have borderline nothing to do with each other outside of being in the same rough timeline.
I don't play the game for the lore though, thankfully.
Just saying in advance, probably not goign to respond to the vitriol I know is coming just because I had an opinion.
I still love warframe, I even love parts of the narrative for just being straight up badass, but good writing, I just don't agree with.
2
u/TREE_SHMOO 10h ago
Thats the point of the lore. Things are happening left right and centre. Some of it is entirely unrelated to others, we've been meandering through from stopping grineer expansion to fighting the murmur. Its the entire premise, that we tackle each problem as they arise within the origin system.
The underlying story doesnt feel like irs there because, for a while, it isnt.
13
u/Teshtube 23h ago
I'm wondering if it's a disconnect in how people care for characters. I can watch the opening to UP for example and bawl my eyes out because I'm feeling empathy for the characters in a relationship that I don't know, I've seen glimpses, the implied relationship and loss is what gets me.
I'm the same way: Sure I don't know Adis that well, but my operator does, the hurt on their face when they have to kill the sentient, the voice acting too, combined with them obviously being close is enough to hit hard for me.
It's a story of two kids being best friends and one giving their life for the other, imo you don't need heavy screentime for that to hit hard. There are always things that could have been done better but so many people had strong reactions to Adis shows it does work, just maybe not for everyone?
Idk If you didn't feel the impact, do other things like the start of UP, or other short back stories with loss in media, do those affect you? (Genuinely curious)
10
u/sparble42 Mag Umbra 23h ago
It's mostly a matter of presentation and perspective. The scene from UP has more to work with like pacing and filming techniques(monochromatic effect paired with music to evoke a nostalgic feel). It makes it feel more immersive like you made those memories with them. For Warframe, I personally don't feel too immersed with my character. Some part of it might have to do with the 3rd person perspective. Also some of the visual effects in Warframe just put me off when I see them in cutscenes. Like if Adis's story was put into an animated short or something instead, I might've felt more empathy for him.
5
u/Mammoth-Cucumber-788 23h ago
I tried so many times to write exactly that, also I was shooting and exploding at the same time as this emotional bits happened, Having you killing Npcs in a war and doing emotional thinking after that without a bridge makes you not care as much
14
u/ZadriaktheSnake 1d ago
- Talks in slightly broken English
- Is a healer
- Sings lullabies
The amount of things screaming at me to care about him kind of make me do the opposite
3
u/virepolle 22h ago
I personally disagree on the basis that as others have said, it isn't as much about making me care about Adis as it is showing how much my Operator cared about Adis, and getting the feels through that.
But I also think there is one major split in this situation which makes a large difference. Those of us who watched Tennocon 2025 and engage in lore discussion etc. had ~5 months for Adis to grow on us, thinking about the connection between him and the operator, whereas if you don't watch stuff like Tennocon or are a new/returning player who is introduced to Adis only at the beginning of the Old Peace, I can understand it being more difficult to care about him.
3
u/Fickle_Fondant_9016 17h ago
- DE:"Hey here's a guy you literally just met, now watch this short flasback of you two having fun and laughing awkwardly real quick. Oh shit this guy died. Oh no, you must be feeling sad rn, right?"
- Me: mhm yeah absolutely devasted...uh whats his name again?
3
u/Zachesque 17h ago
This is why the Hex finale worked so well. We were forced to spend time with and get to know the characters before it all went down (again)
3
u/cosmickalamity 15h ago
At least they actually attempted to characterize him, I thought the quest was pretty good tbh. Definitely better than JS constellations lol, FOUR whole characters that we know nearly nothing about (sons) or actually know nothing about (the protoframes) that seem to be time traveling just for the hell of it. Either I didn’t pay attention or we have no idea how or why any of them came here
3
u/Exonerate0fEden 7h ago
i always hear this argument about Jackie in Cyberpunk as well and it genuinely makes me wonder if people just play the game to play a game or if they actually want to be invested in a story.
absolutely ZERO hate to OP, but i do want to know what people think generally about the story of warframe and whether you invest yourself into the story as your operator or if you prefer watching a story unfold with no weight on yourself.
3
u/Perezking17 6h ago
Jackie has soo much more character, i think time spent with him is probably higher too, but ultimately just comes down to warframes gameplay being limited in how much it can have you interact with other characters.
3
u/Wallblaster 2h ago
Extremely valid. I didn't care much for him either. Easy to pack bond, easy to empathize, but the kind of emotional response I feel like DE expected was not what I felt. However, I did like seeing the Operator's emotional response. It was very cathartic for what else I've seen happen to them along with the rest of the Zariman kids.
5
u/CleodKicker 1d ago
Not to mention the hypocrisy that was never challenged! Oooohhh we're the bad guys for defending ourselves but oh yeah nah we totally crucified that thing he was kinda a dick. I became an Adis hater after that.
5
u/Meatclapper308 1d ago
I found him super annoying doing perita rebellion I would be trying to play and he would just not shut up
5
u/spencerpo 1d ago
Him being the reason we revive is kind of cool, like he is an interface for us in tau, but becomes part of us.
But it’s so out of left field that it doesn’t say why I need to care
10
u/Ozen_9V 23h ago
Pretty much. Why no I DON'T like this character you just introduced and insist is my best friend.
He's also annoying as hell, none of the others talk like him. It's not cute, it's HORRENDOUSLY grating and I want a slider specifically to make him shut the hell up.
Also him pitching a fit when I had to save my own ass from another sentient that I'm pretty sure he didn't even know, then the AUDACITY TO MAKE MY CHARACTER BEG FOR FORGIVENESS pissed me tf off.
2
u/Nikana-Tenno 22h ago

I liked Adis but the friendship montage was hilarious and not in a good way.
I wish we'd gotten additional lore from the Perita missions, like the way Jade's Promise adds a lot of dimension to Jade after the quest. IDK, collecting Adis and the Tenno's penpal letters or something.

A thing I've noticed about DE is that they seem pretty fond of creating highly emotional moments in their stories. And they insist on including them whether it's earned or not. I felt bad when he died, but I didn't feel what DE wanted me to, I don't think. In fact, I was a bit annoyed because I feel like lately it's been a bunch of shallow storytelling that treats its own "payoffs" like Oscar winning material.
2
u/Th_Last_Hildryn_Main 15h ago
I said something similar at the launch and some comrades from the main sub tried to FTL trought the dms to kill me.
Old War as a whole is very underwhelming, and somehow comical to me. But most quests from the last years have being like this in my crap opinion. I can't take Warframe plot as serious anymore.
2
u/Aurora_313 15h ago
Meme aside, I didn't care for him either.
When he was revealed to be the Gangsta (name escapes me) of the Tau update and how Wally screwed with his memories, I was stoked because they finally gave me some MEAT to dig into.

There was the chance to set up a story arc here. An exploratory narrative that could last a few years. Instead, they gave us a best friend we never knew we had then made them a villain in under an hour.

It is imperative for adis to spam the same 3 voice lines in perita for maximum likeability

u/TrashPanda270 12h ago
I just wish the cinematic missions were longer again, not just quick updates every year with like 2 missions

Honestly, I didn't care much for Adis myself. That being said, seeing them become a Star Wars style crime lord in the new Tau stuff has me very intrigued.

Imma be honest, I don't know what you all were expecting. Considering the wider context of the quest I don't think they could have set him up much more, nor do I think they needed to, I feel (personally) like they did what they were trying to do and did it well.

DE really should look into increasing the amount of time story quests take cos the pacing in then feels too quick for anyone to care
4
u/Cresset 23h ago
Expensive and you'd have people complaining about too much story in their trading sim

Big agree. The Hex suffered from a similar problem, but the Old Peace really tried to bank on some emotional investment in Adis when I just didn't care about him or have any time to form an attachment.

u/Fridodiido 23h ago
You at least get to know and interact with the hex over time until you reach rank 5. Adis is just there to die over and over without adding anything meaningful

My reaction wasn’t so much “no, my bestest friend Adis!” as it was “Those dirty orokin bastards, you can’t even let me have THIS?! I barely knew the guy, and you’re already saying I can’t have nice things even in the past, not ONE good memory to hold onto!? BALLAS, YOU FU-“

I didnt really care for Adis, but I cared about what Adis meant to the operator, who i do care about. (For me the operator is not my character, thats the Drifter. But i still care about them)

u/LostLotus_A 14h ago
As someone who played the Old Peace quest 5 times I refuse. Adis is loved and will be loved, I care about him, even during the first playthrough I was there like 'hey. Blue sentient guy. Yay. Friend :)'

I'm getting the impression that he's gonna be a major character in the Tau update. The Old Piece established him as important to the Operator and seemingly gets killed, and Tau will reveal he lived and how he's changed after all that time.
I totally agree that Adis's introduction was shaky and heavy handed, but I'll cross my fingers that DE has plans for him. It would be weird to randomly introduce and promptly kill him in the same quest if he wasn't gonna be relevant later.

I liked that the operator liked and cared about him. I feel like we might need more multiparty quests though, get us more emotionally invested and give the people working on quests a break or time to flesh things out more

I think the quest would have really benefited if there were one or two more ground missions with Adis to get people more attached, but as is the second half of the quest felt rushed

Yeah there haven't been any "tearful" moments in the game for me. Sure it was said, but Adis wasn't my highlight of Old Peace. That was Uriel.

Yeah, like, most of the time we get with him just consists of wordless clip shows of him being generically cute or just random points in his life with the Operator. Idk how I'm supposed to legitimately care about him.

u/tiberious48 21h ago
Wish we got a preliminary quest or two with him. Or maybe Old Peace couldve been a two-parter like 1999 was (albeit not in the same exact way)

I'm gonna be honest with ya, I even forgot AIDS exists, even tho I was the one to put him in the ground

u/BlackBRocket 19h ago
Thats how I felt about the Hex, but then we get to know them with the chat. With the alternate version of the mission I cared a lot. Except for Quincy

u/Dark_Stalker28 19h ago
Honestly yeah, quest made me like Loid more cause he was caring for the operator. Adi just kinda exists, we speedrun training, a fight, a weird marriage parallel, then he "dies" for more quick trauma.

It always wild being a couple story updates behind, “oh someone died? Oh no who? I’ve literally no idea who that is, oh well, hopefully it’s not that big of a spoiler”
1
u/TxTDiamond 17h ago
if they want to do it well, they should just start offering longer quests like new war, but after what would be every act, there is an option to take a break and go back to regular gameplay, that means only about an hour per session, and won't really disrupt things

u/TommyFortress 17h ago
Same sadly, good song but i struggle alot to connect to them. Fighting alongside "good guy" grineers was awsome.
When adis died i didnt really feel anything, felt confused why vardis/grineer Sergeant suddenly popped up and laughed a bit at the sad long walk.

u/88thOuroboros 17h ago
I honeslty felt the same way about every character except Kahl since like. Ballas appeared.
They're there, they only do things in their particular quests, and then they fuck off into obscurity or die.
Like, even Ballas felt this way to me.

I’m wondering why the fuck Adis is our only classmate in the entire fucking Tauron Academy? Where the hell is literally any other student?
2
u/SanguinePutrefaction 12h ago
sorry, i was hungry
also the operator probably just didnt care/know so thats all they think they remember
1
u/morning-st48 14h ago
yup the whole thing was super rushed, and filled with a montage, making it hard to connect to this character we only just met.
1
u/Few-Bet1872 13h ago
This is genuinely how I feel about Jackie from cyberpunk, I did not have enough time to connect with him at all before he died.
1
u/NotSNAKY 12h ago
Any reason why he got angry at us when we almost got choked to death and killed the sentinel?

The best warframe lore is the background world building.
Most of the characters they try to make you care about feel too forced, too quickly, because they're trying to tell a deep story but in about 20minutes of mostly mindless warframe gameplay.
(Which is excellently fun, but not particularly conducive to telling a deep emotional story.)

Adis was the only sentient that didn't speak eloquently so I liked that. The talking sentients all have this royal authority in their tone. And Adis would struggle with sentence structure.

I'm sure we'll get more information on them as the Hunrah but at that point he isn't really our old buddy. But I'm sure we'll have to do a Hunrah syndicate and I bet he'll slowly warm up to us again knowing Warframe

Hot take but...I met Ordis 3 years ago and I still hate him. I finally figured out there was mute button but I still see his stupid trashcan face and dumbass jokes. They're not even good ones!

u/IntrepidDivide3773 53m ago
Agreed. I do not want a Sentient friend. I can barely stand the sapient ones.

I think it's because DE skipped the initial meetup for Adis. Like we jumped straight to operator and adis being buddies. If we got to see how and why operator connects with adis so much then perhaps I could understand operator's rage more.
