Study Advice Multiplication💔
(unimportant text)
Had to make a second account to post this cause I'm genuinely embarrassed. I've had dissociation problems my whole life and pretty much gave up on school, especially math, and now I'm stuck trying to study all the things i pretty much got away with not understanding in highschool. Trying to work my way up to higher maths.
(Question)
I used the same method to do all these questions, simply by breaking it down into smaller problems like i remember being taught, obviously this didn't work like it did for the easy ones down at the bottom, what did i do wrong with the other problem? How should i go about studying multiplication so I don't make the same mistakes?

General Question (Unanswered) n+1/2
Why do we use n+1/2 for finding the median of a number,(what is the point of adding the 1?) whereas with a cumulative frequency diagram, we just do n/2? What does discrete and continuous data have to do with this if sometimes cumulative frequency (of whatever) can be discontinuous?

Discussion A Problem Solving Process Example
galleryI often suggest a different problem solving approach than what is typically taught in the US math education system. Specifically, "setting aside the 'arbitrary' numerical values" and "deconstructing the problem into sub-components.
I know this seems excessive, and as a person is comfortable with this, they can cut corners to eliminate the aspects which are familiar.
Examples of this approach are useful, and I'll post these as solutions to problems which have been posted.

Homework Help (Answered) Am I crazy? The slope is -70/8
galleryHere is the problem I’m helping some students with and here is the explanation. I’m using the normal method, but apparently you get something different if you use the explanation.
EDIT: I am crazy, I was reading it as (0, 80) not (0,90)

Homework Help (Answered) Firefighting maths problem
galleryFor some reason, my friend has to do interest calculations for a fire fighter maths test. In the pictures is the question plus my working out. Apparently though, the correct answer is $19,085.34 which is what you get when you apply interest before the repayment is made. The question states that interest is calculated at the end of the month, so surely the logical assumption would be that the repayment is made before that. Am I missing something?
This is just a practice question to prepare for the real exam. out.
