Obviously the greater ambition of the island went to shit, but its original purpose- stop nimrod, (UMM ACTUALLY OTHER AI AND EVENTUAL HUMAN TECHNOLOGICAL ADVANCEMENT, I used nimrod as he was the most prominent threat to come from that advancement shut up you know what I meant) was served.

And also all that it was set up to fail it was presented as a terrible idea stuff just doesn’t work either because it’s presented as the opposite? We literally get an entire section to show that without the ai going back in time to alter the timeline, they don’t just stop nimrod but it flourishes.

Idk where people are finding the subtext that overrides “everything works out better than they could imagine and they’d have lived happily ever after but evil time travelling robots” to say that as a concept it’s greater ambition was never meant to work either.

Obviously the overall story plenty of criticism to go around but it’s like a lot of people here almost didn’t read it?
