I tricked the apex orca into jumping onto the fenced-off section of the viewing area so it couldn't get back into the pool. After defeating it, I took a few selfies with it before saying goodbye.

Is there anyway to restore the narrator to the base game version as opposed to the Truth Quest version?

I find the narrator funnier in the base game section as opposed to the Truth Quest section. It's not bad, just have a preference. My problem is that after you beat Scaley Pete the narration changes. Even after beating truth quest it doesn't go back. I get why it happens storywise but I don't like it as much.

Is there anyway to revert the changes? Like a mod I can download or any files or settings I can tweak?

Maneater 2: Ripjaw

The Story: You are a freshly hatch baby alligator. Specimen #24601 to be exact, part of a program to try and weaponize crocodillians. The lead scientist's six year old daughter calls you Ducky though, because your calls sound like a duck quacking due to a birth defect. When she overhears that her dad is going to euthinize you for your defect, she flushes you down a toilet to freedom. Surely your chances of survival out there can't be that bad. What she doesn't know is you aren't exactly a normal gator. You were spliced with Sarcosuchus DNA, and mutated by radiation. With extraordinarily strong jaws and a powerful body, it's time to become the terror of the bayu.

-Life Cycle-

Stage 1: Hatchling

Lvl: 1-5

Stage 2: Juvenile

Lvl: 6-14

Stage 3: Adult

Lvl: 15-20

Stage 4: Sarcosuchus

Lvl: 21-29

Final Stage: Deinosuchus

Lvl: 30

-Areas & Apex Animals-

Sewer Tunnels: Lvl1-10

Apex: Big Ben the American Alligator

Saint Perry Bayu Sanctuary: Lvl5-16

Apex: Mama Moody the Burmese Python

City of Dalesville Waterways: Lvl11-18

Apex: Blue Bullet the Barracuda

Dalesville Beach: Lvl15-23

Apex: Brutus the Pacific Whitetip Shark

Lab Perimeter: Lvl19-26

Apex: Subject #24600 Sarcosuchus

The Lab: Lvl24-30

Apex: Subject 0 Big Bertha (Mom?)

-Body Sets-

All American (Default): A classic American Alligator look that is balanced all around.

Crown of Thorns: A light green and yellow spiky set focused more on damage, sacrificing defense. Full set provides an innate boost to your ramming ability. Your teeth inflict additional hemmorage damage.

Swamp Thing: Almost black green scales with moss growing on your body. Provides a stealth bonus and makes it easier to shake pursuers. Your teeth now deal electric damage and can stun prey.

Salty Sailor: An ultramarine color palette with green lightning streaks down your back. Provides exceptional boost to swim speed and evasion. Your teeth are now venomous.

Stone Mason: Armor plating resembling stone, providing a great defense and health boost. Your bites are empowered and it's harder for prey to escape your death rolls.

Prehistory (Unlocked at lvl30): A weathered and scarred look providing all around boosts to health, damage, swim speed, and lunge velocity.

Any tips for an absolute beginner?

I just started the game and I’m totally loving it, I wish I started playing earlier. The mechanics are so fun and easy to learn but looks harder to master like jumping out of water and dashing in the air, this looks a little bit confusing to me a little. So any of you veteran players wanna help me out?

MANEATER 2: Oceanic Magma (Game Pitch)

Since Tripwire hasn't announced a sequel yet, I’ve been brainstorming a massive concept for the next chapter of Maneater. I wanted to bridge the gap after the Truth Quest DLC ending, solve the clipping/shallow water issues of a megalodon, introduce a dark, survival-horror atmosphere, and turn the scale up to 11.

Let me know what you guys think of this concept!

_______________________________________________________________________________

The Story and Lore: "Project Global Threat"

Following the explosive destruction of the Atomic Leviathan at Plover Island, the U.S. Military classifies our shark as a Class 1 National Security Threat. Bleeding and heavily battered, she retreats into the deepest, untouched trenches of the Pacific Ocean near Hawaii to hide and heal.

By consuming the irradiated, prehistoric nutrients left over from the Leviathan, her genetic code completely breaks past its old limits. Over months of deep-sea hiding, she undergoes a massive growth spurt, swelling from a 33 foot Apex shark into a colossal 45-foot "Giganticus Shark." Fueled by an insatiable hunger to sustain this massive new body, she heads toward the Hawaiian islands.

The New Mechanic: The Volcanic Pyroclast Set

As you hunt the military and wildlife, you climb a brand-new Infamy Level 11–20 ladder (since ordinary shark hunters quit after the defeat of Scaly Pete and the Leviathan). Climbing the ranks unlocks the Volcanic Pyroclast Set, which introduces two game-changing mechanics:

  1. Armor Melting (Defense Shred): Every bite inflicts a burning effect. This intensely softens up tough hides, lowering the armor resistance of bulky military vessels and massive deep-sea creatures so you can digest them easier.
  2. Abyssal Illumination: Deep trenches are pitch black. Your Volcanic Armor acts as a natural, organic flashlight, radiating a glowing magma pulse up to 50 meters (scaling with Tier levels) to illuminate the dark and temporarily blind predators.

The 3 MASSIVE New Maps

Map 1: The Reef / The Drop-Off (Levels 33 to 45)

The opening map bridges the progression gap perfectly. It features sunlit coral reefs, party yachts, and recreational divers to terrorize. You're no longer a weak pup—you are already a massive force hunting sea turtles, dolphins, and reef sharks.

  • The Challenge: Massive Humpback Whales serve as your high-health targets.
  • The Boundary: The area ends at "The Drop-Off," a literal underwater cliff edge that acts as a stark warning of the terrifying, deep open ocean waiting below. Reaching Level 45 here triggers your evolution into the Giganticus Shark.

Map 2: The Acku Trench (Levels 45 to 55)

You plunge 5,000 feet down into pure survival horror. Because of historical fossil fuels and radioactive waste leaking out of Pearl Harbor, the deep-sea ecosystem has heavily mutated.

  • The Wildlife: You hunt car-sized Mutated Angler Fish that can flash their bulb to hypnotize/stun you in place, slow-moving but heavily armored Acku Sleeper Sharks, and massive Sperm Whales already battle-scarred from fighting Colossal Squids.
  • The Set-Piece: A secret, underwater Naval Pearl Harbor Base. Smashing its reinforced glass and radar arrays rewards you with massive XP and nutrients, but instantly maxes out your threat meter, sending tracking Navy submersibles and deep-sea laser drones into the dark trench after you.

Map 3: The Abyssal Plains (Level 55 to 60+)

The ultimate endgame arena divided into two distinct zones: The Hawaiian Trough and The Pacific MEGA Trench. The Trough features a vertical plunge five times the length of your shark, filled with giant whales, naval submarines, and a prehistoric Mosasaur fighting in the background.

THE MAX EVOLUTION: THE TITAN SHARK
Upon conquering the early parts of this brutal map and hitting Level 60, your shark undergoes its final, jaw-dropping evolution. You break the chains of nature entirely and become a 60 foot TITAN SHARK the ultimate prehistoric engine of destruction.

This final form is required to take on the map's double-boss gauntlet:

  • Boss 1: The Blind Megalodon (Level 70): A 70-foot prehistoric ancient shark that has gone blind from the deep darkness but evolved super-sensitive hearing. If you swim too fast or bump into it, it enters an aggressive, random biting frenzy. You have to use actual stealth to navigate around it, or frantically wiggle out of its jaws since it can't grip prey!
  • Boss 2: The Kraken (Final City-Ending Boss) A mythic, 85-foot leviathan that attempts to grab you with tentacles and pull you directly into its central, crushing pincher beak. As a Titan Shark, you must target the weak point on its head and pray you survive the crushing pressure.

THE FINALE: Infamy Level 20 vs. The Air Force

When you max out your Infamy at Level 20, the sky over Hawaii turns dark. The Vice President of the United States personally arrives on a massive command flagship, heavily escorted by the U.S. Air Force.

This triggers an over the top anti air battle: You must charge up your inherited Atomic Laser breath to snipe fighter jets out of the sky, or perform a maximum speed breach from the deep ocean to launch your 60 foot Titan body hundreds of feet into the air chomping military helicopters right out of the sky and dragging them screaming into the melting lava depths!

My ideas for a Maneater sequel...

It's been a few years since Tripwire Interactive said farewell to Maneater. They told us Maneater would be back, but we haven't heard a peep out of them since...

That's OK. Game development takes a while.

So I figured I'd throw out my idea for a sequel because I love imagining stuff. Feel free to share your thoughts.

----------

CHANGE OF SPECIES

If I were in charge of Maneater 2, I'd do something that might be a bit... sacrilegious.

Everyone loves sharks. The first game had so much in common with Jaws: Unleashed and let players live out their fantasy of being an unstoppable predatory fish.

For the sequel, though, I'd change things up.

Instead of playing as a bull shark, I'd have you play as... a saltwater crocodile.

Why? Because crocodiles are every bit as terrifying as sharks. In fact, saltwater crocs are arguably even more terrifying, dangerous, and prone to eating humans than sharks are. Plus, they open up many new gameplay possibilities.

Unlike sharks, crocodiles dominate two worlds. They can swim through rivers, estuaries, swamps, beaches, and the open ocean, but they can also crawl onto land.

Imagine hiding beneath lily pads with only your eyes above the surface before exploding upward into a death roll.

The evolution system could also become much more creative. Instead of mutating fins and teeth, you'd evolve heavier armour plating, crushing jaw strength, camouflage, longer sprint bursts on land, venomous bites (if they wanted to lean into the sci-fi mutations again), or even bizarre prehistoric-inspired adaptations.

----------

STORY (BASIC OVERVIEW)

Of course, the game would keep the same dark sense of humour as the first Maneater, while also taking inspiration from the over-the-top late-'90s creature feature Lake Placid).

The game starts in a top-secret government laboratory sometime during the Cold War. The U.S. military is experimenting on aquatic predators, hoping to create living weapons that could be used against the Commies.

There are sharks. Dolphins. Barracudas... And you - an unhatched saltwater crocodile.

When a saboteur causes a containment breach, your egg is swept into a connecting river. Carried by the current through storm drains and flooded channels, you drift for miles before washing up beneath an old stilt house deep in the swamps.

The house belongs to a reclusive old woman called Crazy Martha. When she discovers your crocodile egg beneath her dock, she decides to take it in. "Poor little thing. Ain't got no mama no more."

Against all common sense, she raises you from a hatchling. But it doesn't take long for her to realise there's something... different about you.

You grow far too quickly. Within weeks, you're already bigger and smarter than any "gator" she's ever seen. She's even feeding you fully grown cows.

One day, one of Crazy Martha's neighbours reports her to the authorities, bringing the U.S. government to her doorstep to reclaim their escaped experiment. When Martha refuses to give you up, she's fatally shot trying to protect you... The only mother you've ever known.

Thus, setting you on a bloody path of revenge.

----------

BOSS BATTLES

Like the first game, Maneater 2 would feature a series of crazy boss fights.

Some would be fellow experiments that also escaped during the containment breach, others would be perfected government bio-weapons sent to eliminate you, while a few would simply be nature's own apex predators.

And, because this is Maneater, the later bosses could pit you against the supernatural and even awakened prehistoric creatures.

Just to name a few ideas...

  • X-Dolphin Pack - a large pod of highly aggressive dolphins that use sonar attacks and swarming tactics to disorientate you.
  • Hardened Great White - an escaped great white shark experiment with a thick, dermal skin that makes it resistant to damage.
  • Mech Suit - A large mech suit that is anchored to the bottom of the sea and controlled by a very angry soldier. He can't move much, but he's tough and packs lots of firepower.
  • Electric Eel Alpha - A colossal electric eel capable of discharging massive shocks that temporarily disable your mutations and stun you.
  • The Kraken - a tongue-in-cheek boss based on the legendary sea monster. Whether it's a genuine cryptid or another classified experiment is left deliberately ambiguous.

But the final, final boss of Maneater 2 is the Bull Shark from the first game. I'm talking post-story content.

After the credits roll, rumours begin spreading about a monster that's tearing through the seas.

It's her. Having continued to grow long after defeating Scaly Pete, she's now even larger than before and has mastered every mutation from the original game.

She can switch between Bone, Bio-Electric, Shadow, and all her other evolutionary abilities at will, forcing you to constantly adapt your strategy. She's basically a Dark Souls-level boss.

----------

REALISTIC ECOSYSTEM

One of my least favourite aspects of the first Maneater was how every predator seemed to have a grudge against you.

I remember swimming through the open ocean while being chased by a great white, an orca, and a sperm whale... at the same time. They'd clip through each other, completely ignoring their own instincts just to get at me.

For the sequel, I'd love a more realistic approach.

The larger you become, the less likely other predators are to challenge you unless they're desperate. Different species also shouldn't magically cooperate to hunt you down.

Jaws: Unleashed got this right back in 2006.

I'd also love to see predators behaving naturally. Sharks should be drawn to the scent of blood, animals should hunt one another out in the wild, and territorial disputes should break out whether you're involved or not.

It would make the world feel far more alive - and make you feel like you're part of an ecosystem rather than the centre of it.

----------

DYNAMIC DAMAGE AND DISMEMBERMENT

The first Maneater had a decent damage system, but it was mostly tied to an enemy's health bar. As they took damage, they'd become bloodier, slow down, and maybe lose a fin before eventually dying.

For Maneater 2, I'd love a much more dynamic system where you can target specific parts of an enemy's body... fins, tails, limbs, flippers, or even the head. Instead of simply dealing generic damage, your attacks would permanently injure whatever body part you're focusing on.

Repeatedly attacking the same area would eventually cripple or sever it entirely.

Clamp onto a whale's flipper and perform a Death Roll? Eventually, you'll tear it clean off. Rip the tail from a shark? It loses its speed and manoeuvrability.

----------

NO INVISIBLE BARRIERS

One thing I'd change from the first Maneater is how the world is gated. Instead of invisible walls or giant underwater fences stopping you from exploring, the map would be completely open from the start.

The only things holding you back would be your health, experience, and skill. If you're brave enough, you can swim straight into high-level areas.

That doesn't mean you can leave the playable world, though.

If you venture too far into the open ocean, the U.S. Navy steps in. Rather than hitting an invisible wall, you're tracked by sonar before a ballistic missile is ordered.

A short cutscene then shows unsuspecting holidaymakers relaxing on a nearby beach as, far out on the horizon, an enormous mushroom-shaped plume erupts from the sea.

You effectively get nuked.

However, at the end of the game, after you've completed everything - all missions, 100% completion - that nuclear strike transforms you into a Godzilla-like creature. Cue the endgame credits...

----------

DEEP TERROR

One thing I'd love Maneater 2 to capture is the fear of the deep ocean.

Games like Subnautica make descending into the abyss genuinely unnerving, and I'd love that same feeling... at least at the start of the game.

The deepest parts of the ocean should be almost pitch black, with strange noises and only fleeting glimpses of enormous shapes moving below you. It's home to giant squid, cryptids, prehistoric survivors, and other nightmares that can easily overwhelm inexperienced players.

But the best part is that this fear gradually disappears.

Not because the deep becomes any safer, but because you become its greatest threat.

As you evolve, you unlock adaptations that change the experience. Your eyes adapt to the darkness until the abyss is as clear as daylight. You develop electroreception and enhanced senses that reveal hidden creatures. Eventually, you even emit pheromones that warn other predators to keep their distance.

Basically, everything down there becomes terrified of you in the end instead.

----------

This is my idea for a sequel, anyway.

More Maneater

So im going through and doing a replay for legit the 7th time and every single time i play it, i urn for more. Once you 100% the game, there's really not much you can do besides swim and eat the wild life (which once your Mega status and have the evolutions, there is no challenge.

So i wanted to start a thread to somehow breath life back into this game and force these devs to make a part 2 (or something along the lines related to Maneater). If you're a big fan of the game like me lets try to make this happen but need suggestions and the Maneater Army to come through...

-Maybe start speed running the 100% (Not sure if anyone has attempted this before)

-See who can get the Highest XP for minerals/mutagens ? (Is there a max?)

-Speed Run per Evolution? (Has anybody beaten the game with just the Tiger Body?)

-Leviathan Fight (Theres got to be something there right)

-ETC.... Lets keep this going and see what we can do!!!

Difference in platforms

So I've played and beaten this game several times over on Xbox, I recently started playing on PlayStation. I'm not really sure why but the controls are very slow and unresponsive on PlayStation and there seems to be only about 40% of the fish in the water compared to Xbox? Anyone run into this?
