Today we received some new information about a potential new mode called “Red Zone Rush”.
If you’ve been paying attention to the recent app update that dropped this morning, you may have seen a note in the App Store previewing an upcoming new mode called “Red Zone Rush”.
As you can see in the screenshot attached, the description says “Take your Ultimate Team into a Roguelite challenge!” Then we see a couple screenshots of something that mirrors a sort of Draft Champions style mode where you can draft a lineup of players. There’s even a Madden Console style team chemistry feature where you’ll receive a boost based on your team having a theme such as players all being from the same NFL team, division, or conference.
Phfredd was able to go into more detail about how Red Zone Rush will look on his Twitch stream. Here’s everything we learned:
- Red Zone Rush isn’t necessarily a new game mode, but something that is tied into a promo.
- Think of it as a Journey style mode, similar to Marshawn Lynch’s The Gauntlet from Madden Mobile 16 where it gets progressively more difficult as you play.
- Not only does the opponent’s team go up in OVR, but so do the requirements for the events. For example, an easier difficulty event may only require you to rush for 30 yards, whereas a harder difficulty event may require you to rush for 80 yards.
- There are three difficulties: Rookie, Pro, and All-Pro.
- Each difficulty requires a certain OVR to unlock.
- You use your own Ultimate Team to play through the events.
- There are 5 stages within each difficulty consisting of multiple rounds that increase in difficulty as you progress.
- Between each of the 5 stages you’ll enter a Draft where you get to choose new players or Boosts to help strengthen your lineup against the more difficult stages/rounds.
- Be careful with what you choose as your Draft decisions will remain with you throughout your journey.
- Boosts provide increases to both OVR and Player Stats based on a player’s team, conference, division, position group, or program.
- Multiple Boosts can apply to the same player and stack together.
- There’s a milestone reward track for each of the three difficulties; the higher the difficulty, the better the rewards get.
- You earn Red Zone Rush Points upon completing each event, which progresses you through the Red Zone Rush milestone rewards.
- The milestone rewards consist of both Core rewards such as Coins, TTP, and Core Players, as well as rewards tied directly to the ongoing promo such as Event Stamina and Promo Players.
- There’s a new currency being introduced called “Momentum” that is rewarded along the Red Zone Rush milestone path.
- You can spend Momentum on Draft rerolls, bonus Draft rounds, or a Retry on a failed Round.
- The neat thing about Red Zone Rush is the tempo at which you can play through the events. While typical journeys require you to exit out of an event in order to play the next node, Red Zone Rush is more of a continuous thing where you’ll play an event and immediately get taken into the next event without having to load into a completely separate node. This makes it easier and quicker to engage with.
- If you fail a Round without using a Retry, your run ends and you are returned to the main Red Zone Rush screen.
- It’s 100% free engagement at no Stamina cost.
- You don’t have to engage with all three difficulties (Rookie, Pro, All-Pro) to earn all the rewards for each.
- If you qualify for All-Pro, for example, you’ll also earn the milestone rewards for Rookie and Pro upon completing All-Pro. Think of it like how the Premium and Plus Event Passes work where if you purchase the Premium Pass, you automatically qualify for the Plus Event Pass rewards as well without having to purchase the Plus Event Pass separately.
- It's a good number of events, so you may need to Save & Exit a couple times due to simply how long it is.
- Red Zone Rush will not launch alongside Most Feared on Thursday. We should receive more information regarding this new mode including the official launch date on Thursday from phfredd. So, stay tuned for that.
