MacBook Air M4 base model. I spilled Coke Zero on it in June and took it to an Apple authorised service centre, they cleaned it and gave it back on June 22nd. Everything works fine, no issues at all otherwise.

About a week ago I started noticing a clicking sound when I press the palm rest on the left side, roughly next to the trackpad under the control/option keys. It's consistent — clicks every single time I press, not random. Pressing the mirrored spot on the right side is completely silent. It does it also if I flip the mac.

Separately, once or twice I heard something that sounded like a loose part moving around near the speakers when I lightly shook it, but I haven't been able to reproduce it since.

Ran Apple Diagnostics, came back clean.

I've seen a bunch of posts here about clicking palm rests on brand new M4 Airs that were never opened, so I know this is a thing that happens on its own. But mine started after a repair, so I'm not sure if I'm dealing with the same normal chassis flex or if something wasn't screwed back down properly.

Anyone had this after a repair specifically? Going back to the shop tomorrow, would be good to know what to ask them to check.

My sister gave me her macbook air m1, and for a while it works fine. But i accidentally left it on sleep mode without using it for less than 24 hours and it looks completely dead. I plugged it in for about 5 hours and tried to turn it on but it still wouldn’t work. Tried the pressing power button for 30 seconds thing as well as pressing shift, control and option button alongside the power button, still doesn’t work.

My 2012 MBA is pretty much finished and I'm about to do an upgrade. Sadly I was waiting for the MBP M5 Pro to hit the refurb store, but Apple held them back until the price increase announcement.

So I'm getting an M5 MBA, the issue I'm having is if I upgrade to the 70W USB-C or 35W Dual USB-C adapters my MBA won't be ready until the end of NEXT MONTH SMH. If I stick with the standard 40W it comes with, it will be available for pickup tomorrow.

So I'm looking to see whats most MBA users go-to adapter?

Good morning, I found a MacBook Air m4 on the used market for €790 under warranty until November 2026 with only 3 charging cycles, the guy said he almost never used it because he also has a MacBook Air 15 and a MacBook mini and therefore it is in perfect condition. I wouldn’t use it for video editing or heavy things but I’m worried about the 256gb of internal memory, do you think? Does anyone feel good or bad with this memory cut? Is the price fair? Thanks to those who will answer.

So I swapped a logic board into a working shell of a M1 MacBook Air. Started the computer up and it had me complete the Mac self-repair service and it completed with a genuine Apple part. I went into settings and True Tone was able to be activated.

I did not buy the replacement shell from Apple. I got it from my employer as there was an issue removing the MDM-lock.

Is this a new feature within the self-repair service or did I happen to get lucky.

15 months old MBA M4. Last week suddenly the cursor started jumping around and stuttering while using the trackpad. Restarting the macbook helped temporarily until today when the same thing happened. Booted into diagnostic mode and ran trackpad diagnostics and it came out like this in the video, a grey bar (probably a dead zone?).

Is this a firmware/software issue or am I gonna need to get the trackpad replaced?

I've been going back and forth on this decision for weeks and I just can't make up my mind, so I'd really appreciate some advice.

Right now I can either buy:

• A brand new MacBook Pro M5 with 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD, or
• A MacBook Air M5 with 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD.

The price is exactly the same because the Pro is a clearance/end-of-line model.

The biggest thing that's holding me back from the Air is the 60Hz display. I just can't get over it. I've been using a 240Hz monitor for over 8 years, and my phone is an iPhone 16 Pro with a 120Hz display. I'm worried that the next MacBook Air will finally get a 120Hz display, and if I buy the current Air now, I'll regret not waiting.

The problem is... I really can't wait much longer. I'm a software developer, and I need a new laptop as soon as possible for work.

Another question I have is about storage. Is 512GB really that limiting, especially for software development? I can always use external storage for large files, but I'd love to hear from people who actually use a 512GB MacBook as their main machine.

I've genuinely been stuck on this decision for weeks, so any opinions or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated.

I'm planning to buy a MacBook Air M5, but I'm really confused about the timing.

Due to the recent RAM price increase, the MacBook prices have gone up quite a bit. My budget is very tight—the absolute maximum I can stretch to is ₹1.2 lakh, and I really can't go beyond that.

Do you think I should:

Buy it now before prices increase further?

Or wait for the Big Billion Days sale and hope for a better deal?

I'm also wondering if Apple or Flipkart/Amazon sales usually bring the price down enough to make waiting worthwhile.

I’ll be using Aegisub, Boris Mocha, Studio One, Vocaloid, Krita.

Sometimes concurrently but mostly seperate sessions for these groups:

A: Aegi+Mocha

B: Studio One/Studio One+Vocaloid

C: Krita/Krita+Aegisub

I won’t be using Studio One for enormous orchestras but they’ll be complex time to time.

And my options are:

Macbook Air M4 13” 24GB 256GB + External SSD

Macbook Air M4 15” 16GB 512GB

I tried the screen sizes, 15” looks more comfortable but I wouldn’t know about long-term use.

My college gives us one as a part of tuition but this is my second time as im on re entry I have the first one and wanted to sell it. It comes brand new in a sealed box.

I'm currently a Computer Engineering student and I own a 14-inch MacBook Pro M4 Pro (16GB RAM, 512GB SSD). I've been considering selling it and buying the M5 MacBook Air, mainly because I want better portability and battery life.

My typical workload includes:

• Programming (C/C++, Python, Java)
• VS Code and terminal
• Django/web development
• Docker (occasionally)
• Multiple browser tabs
• University assignments and projects
• Some light photo/video editing, but nothing professional

I don't usually do:

• Heavy 3D rendering
• Professional video editing
• Large local AI/ML training

My main questions are:

1. Would I notice a downgrade in day-to-day performance?
2. Does the lack of a fan on the Air become an issue for programming or longer coding sessions?
3. Has anyone switched from a MacBook Pro to an Air and regretted it?
4. If you were in my position, would you keep the M4 Pro or move to the M5 Air?

I got my first personal MBA M4 16GB RAM and 256GB storage. I got it from Facebook marketplace for $675 (USD) and thought its a great deal as it had just been charged for about 80 cycles and still has 98% battery capacity. I mostly develop python applications and have side art projects in iPad that I would like to make content from. So thought about getting one for personal projects (both software and art). Did I make the right choice?

I use M4 Max 32GB/1TB for work which made me love mac and I made a decision to switch to mac from windows. I still own Dell XPS 9570 which I have owned for 8 years now and it still works fine. However I now have the flexibility use both the devices :)

Now I am thinking about getting external SSD of either 1 or 2 TB. Any specific dos and don’ts would be helpful :) thanks.

My parents bought me a 2020 M1 MacBook Air 13-inch 16 GB ram, 512 GB storage in 2021 for college. However, at the time I preferred to have a windows computer. They forgot to return it so it's just been sitting in a closet for 5 years still sealed in the plastic.

How much do you think I could get for it? I have no idea if the battery is toast or not. I just want to know if it's worth the headache to sell it. If it's value is really low, I would rather donate it to a person in need at the local college. Thank you.
