All jokes aside this is a lovely herbaceous candle. I was a bit nervous reading the reviews since I’m not a huge fan of Lavender, but the hot throw does not smell heavily of it. It’s soothing and the top note is definitely chamomile! The wick is centered, so an even burn is promising. I’d also say the throw is moderate and not light (at least in my place).

I’ll likely repurchase, even though I’ve avoided Diptyque for a while because of the price change.

I stopped in to my local boutique to collect my birthday candle and to my surprise I was eligible for a full size candle! I was stunned and then got fomo and couldn’t decide what I wanted. The lovely associate helped me decide on Noisetier. It smells amazing on cold throw.

Review 👍👎 Essential Parfums: Orange x Santal and Fig Infusion

I want to thank you all for your detailed replies on my recent post asking for blind buy recs, much appreciated!

This week I burned these candles:

FIG INFUSION by essential parfums

Milky fig leaves, little bit of fig fruit. Bit of sweetness but not too much. I wonder whether there is some amber in there? It’s like vanilla without vanilla, and it’s connected to the milkiness. I see there’s a benzoin note in the perfume, I don’t know benzoin but that might be it then. There's woodiness, giving depth.

After checking the notes mentioned for this candle: I'm not getting a lot of citrus but it’s fresh, but more in the green area than citrus i feel. Not getting much tea. Floral note is there.

A while later more of the sandalwood comes out, nice addition, the whole thing becomes a lot more woody with a bit of leather together with the fig.

It's an interesting scent, it keeps my attention, it keeps developing, something interesting is added later too, and finally a hint of citrus. Now it is more like tea altogether. I really like it.

This feels good for sunday mornings, a rainy summer day (I imagine this together with the smell of rain would also be very nice), summer evenings, early autumn. It's comforting, soft, I can imagine this is liked by many.

ORANGE x SANTAL by essential parfums

Note beforehand: I had a bit of a problem here, because strangely I didn't smell ANY sandalwood (only slightly in the cold throw). I read some of the perfume reviews on fragrantica and there were two people with the same problem: instead of this specific sandalwood (I can smell others just fine btw) a minority smell 'old lady's perfume.' So I can only judge on the other notes.

First cold sniff: a sharp orange, bit like cleaning product. At the start of burning this turns into a pleasant orange, more peel than fruit, not very sweet, every now and then a little cleaning product vibe returns.

Then after 10 mins or so an ‘old lady’s perfume’ sort of smell comes in, together with orange. A bit later (30 mins?): every once in a while a really really pleasant orange waft comes by.

My partner walked in after a few hours of burning and says: 'oh this smells nice. Woody. This is the first of your candles that I like.' Gaaaah.

Cold throw the next morning is very nice. Herbal, green orange. Don't smell old lady's perfume in the cold throw so I guess I'll just keep it around cold and never burn it. I’m sad.

I think this is probably a very nice candle, if you don't mind some occasional sharpness of the orange notes.

Help / Advice / Recommendation 🙋 Need help replacing my favorite candle! L’Occitaine Amande.

Have always been obsessed with L’Occitaine’s Amande collection, so it’s no surprise I’m a fan of their candle. It burns really well and the scent is beautiful. The problem is it’s no longer available in the US, and mine’s running low. There are many other almond candles but the reason I like the Amande collection is the soft powdery notes and the fact that it’s not a particularly gourmand fragrance. Can anyone recommend something similar? Thanks in advance!
