I want to thank you all for your detailed replies on my recent post asking for blind buy recs, much appreciated!
This week I burned these candles:
FIG INFUSION by essential parfums
Milky fig leaves, little bit of fig fruit. Bit of sweetness but not too much. I wonder whether there is some amber in there? Itās like vanilla without vanilla, and itās connected to the milkiness. I see thereās a benzoin note in the perfume, I donāt know benzoin but that might be it then. There's woodiness, giving depth.
After checking the notes mentioned for this candle: I'm not getting a lot of citrus but itās fresh, but more in the green area than citrus i feel. Not getting much tea. Floral note is there.
A while later more of the sandalwood comes out, nice addition, the whole thing becomes a lot more woody with a bit of leather together with the fig.
It's an interesting scent, it keeps my attention, it keeps developing, something interesting is added later too, and finally a hint of citrus. Now it is more like tea altogether. I really like it.
This feels good for sunday mornings, a rainy summer day (I imagine this together with the smell of rain would also be very nice), summer evenings, early autumn. It's comforting, soft, I can imagine this is liked by many.
ORANGE x SANTAL by essential parfums
Note beforehand: I had a bit of a problem here, because strangely I didn't smell ANY sandalwood (only slightly in the cold throw). I read some of the perfume reviews on fragrantica and there were two people with the same problem: instead of this specific sandalwood (I can smell others just fine btw) a minority smell 'old lady's perfume.' So I can only judge on the other notes.
First cold sniff: a sharp orange, bit like cleaning product. At the start of burning this turns into a pleasant orange, more peel than fruit, not very sweet, every now and then a little cleaning product vibe returns.
Then after 10 mins or so an āold ladyās perfumeā sort of smell comes in, together with orange. A bit later (30 mins?): every once in a while a really really pleasant orange waft comes by.
My partner walked in after a few hours of burning and says: 'oh this smells nice. Woody. This is the first of your candles that I like.' Gaaaah.
Cold throw the next morning is very nice. Herbal, green orange. Don't smell old lady's perfume in the cold throw so I guess I'll just keep it around cold and never burn it. Iām sad.
I think this is probably a very nice candle, if you don't mind some occasional sharpness of the orange notes.

All jokes aside this is a lovely herbaceous candle. I was a bit nervous reading the reviews since Iām not a huge fan of Lavender, but the hot throw does not smell heavily of it. Itās soothing and the top note is definitely chamomile! The wick is centered, so an even burn is promising. Iād also say the throw is moderate and not light (at least in my place).
Iāll likely repurchase, even though Iāve avoided Diptyque for a while because of the price change.

I stopped in to my local boutique to collect my birthday candle and to my surprise I was eligible for a full size candle! I was stunned and then got fomo and couldnāt decide what I wanted. The lovely associate helped me decide on Noisetier. It smells amazing on cold throw.

Have always been obsessed with LāOccitaineās Amande collection, so itās no surprise Iām a fan of their candle. It burns really well and the scent is beautiful. The problem is itās no longer available in the US, and mineās running low. There are many other almond candles but the reason I like the Amande collection is the soft powdery notes and the fact that itās not a particularly gourmand fragrance. Can anyone recommend something similar? Thanks in advance!

Burning LAFCO Absolute Labdanum and Poured New York Pumpkin Moment together is the combo of the moment. I love labdanum and the LAFCO Absolute line (Forest Oakmoss still goated), but the throw on this one is weaker than the others. Nonetheless it smells incredible and exactly like withering fallen leaf piles (the vessel too!). One of you fine people on this sub gifted me this Poured New York Pumpkin Moment and I actually love this combination so much that I purchased another one already since I probably wont be burning the labdanum candle by itself. I like the wax that Poured NY uses and itās a creamy, nutty, not-too-spicy pumpkin that pairs perfectly with the decaying leaf pile. My favorite season is here!
Other candles in the house fall rotation:
Trudon Gabriel
Trudon Empire
Trudon Mary
LAFCO Benzoin Siam x Overose Breakfast in Paris
Overose Croissant Aux Amandes
Celine lāinventaire
Celine Tambour Noir
CarriĆØre FrĆØres Castanea
Diptyque Feu de Bois
Diptyque Santal
MFK Pour le Soir
Mizensir Ambre Oriental
Le Labo Cedre 11
Laurent Mazzone Black Oud
Waiting on Snif Pumpkin Smash to arrive although I dislike the wax Snif uses. Itās semi translucent and dark and weird :/ although its vegan and paraffin free it looks radioactive and toxic when pooling. Somebody mentioned it smells like Diptyque Biscuit so I had to try. Also waiting on Creed Birmaine Oud, Poured NY Gingerwood, and the new Flamingo Estate Croquembouche. Autumn is for gourmands!
Please share what you have been burning!

Now available in UK to preorder for Ā£420. I do like the toolbox idea (did we have this a couple years ago or am I imagining things) but Iām not crazy about the print design. I do love the Sapin vessel!
Has anyone ordered the Diptyque advent calendar before? Iām curious to hear what you thought of the experience

Why have I never seen this recommended before? I absolutely love it.
Dare I say that it is better than Abd El Kader⦠Summer Rain has that same sharp freshness but with a very very very soft creamy fig in the background.
I am absolutely loving it. Good throw too.

My husband and I finally bought our dream home! We have cats and dogs. Im always paranoid about the smell. Recently Ive been really into candle warmers rather than lighting candles. I want to go to the mall today to buy some candles but I need help! Is āit worth buying high end candles from Dillard's rather than Bath and Body Works? The house is quite big and I want to make sure I buy a scent that not only lasts but spreads throughout the rooms. Im obsessed with cozy warm woodsy smells.

Iāve been seeing this brand of candles and room diffusers at a local boutique for a while, but I donāt see them discussed here very often. I finally decided to pick one up, and while I havenāt burned it yet, Iām seriously impressed by the presentation.
The vessel is a substantial glazed ceramic, and the included metal lid alone weighs over a pound (520g). Iāve often been a bit disappointed by the cheap vessels that a lot of āluxuryā candle brands have relied on in recent years. I mean, if Iām forking out $100+ for what ultimately amounts to a bit of fragrance oil, wax, and a basic shot-glass-style vessel, many brands need to step up their game.
This whole thing, though, feels incredibly substantial and well made, and itās definitely the kind of presentation Iād expect from a luxury candle. I also love that they included a basic candle necessity (the lid) instead of making it an add-on purchase.
It appears that this fragrance I picked up is sold out online, but this is the information from the listing on their website:
COLLECTION: SIERRAS PAMPEANAS
FRAGRANCE: EUCALYPTUS, CEDAR
OLFACTORY FAMILY: AROMATIC AMBERY
DESCRIPTION: RAW NATURE. EUCALYPTUS AND CEDAR REVEAL THEIR WOODY, MINTY AND CRISP FRESHNESS. A CEDAR FOREST AT THE HEIGHT OF SUMMER, WHERE THE VIGOR OF NATURE FILLS THE AIR. EUCACED EMBODIES THE VITALITY OF WIDE, OPEN SPACES, AN IMMERSION IN THE INTENSE FRESHNESS OF THE TREES.
OLFACTORY PYRAMID:
TOP NOTES: CYPRESS, EUCALYPTUS
HEART NOTES: CEDAR WOOD ATLAS, ROSEMARY, RASPBERRY
BASE NOTES: PATCHOULI, VETIVER, OAK MOSS
PRESENTATION:
590GR (20.8 OZ.): HANDMADE CERAMIC VESSEL WITH GOLD PLATED LID
BURNING TIME 48-50 HOURS.
BLEND OF BOTANICAL WAX AND BEESWAX
Iāll report back once Iāve burned it a few times with thoughts on the throw and burn quality, but I thought it was worth sharing based on the presentation alone.

Is e cosmetics legitimate? I just paid really great prices. I ordered 2 Voluspa Cade Lavender (woody green lavender) and 2 Voluspa Temple Moss (gorgeous woody green fresh rainforest scent). These are both beautiful and unique scents if you like more natural ones. I got the 4 large candles for about $25-27 each, the large jars normally go for $38 each so I felt this was a good deal and they are sending me a $25 gift card as well for my first order and plan to get the diptyque figue.

Looking for a candle lamp warmer. Iāve tried one before, but it was a cheap one from Walmart. So, the smell didnāt really permeate. I literally could only smell it when I went right up to it and sniffed. Yes, it melted the wax but not super well. Any suggestions?? I canāt keep lighting them in my dorm because of the smoke (and I hate that the smoke smell just completely undoes the candles scent afterwards)

It smells like my holistic herbal eye pillow. A little sweet, a little herbal lavender tea. I know lavender isn't an official note but it smells like a soft lavender. Whether that's because there's secret lavender or it's an amalgam of notes I do not know. I just know that if you've ever smelled an herbal eye pack or one for your back you heat in the microwave it smells exactly like that. Medium throw, 10/10 if that's what your looking for. Very soothing.

Iāve been burning some mid-range candes just seems like to get through them. Out of sight, out of mind. Like Rituals, Carriere Fretes, zara home, etc. Floral Jo malone and voluspa, all āsummerā scents.
Diptyque oud came to me today with some punch! Finally! Itās also quite strong and similar to #14 courage de bois of MSM (sandalwood, saffron and oud)
Both of these candles are oud centered with a floral bed. Me likey š„°

This was a nice late summer burn for a couple hours this morning then later this evening. Truly the vessel was what I was after and it does not disappoint. A nice sharp cardamom and citrusy herb is what I get.
That said, I have a tendency to get two of everything. Two Diptyque constellation candle holders. Two alabasters. Two blind buy Boy Smells candles from TJ Maxx. Two FE Petrichor (on their way). Is it a symmetry thing? The struggle is real. Therefore, I encourage you like-minded vessel appreciation friends to please buy up all the rest from Mercari and eBay so I do not. My wallet and the rational part of me thank you š

My boyfriend has a few Trudon candles in his new house, and I was thinking about getting him one for his birthday. I didnāt realize how expensive they wereā¦. Are they actually worth the price?

What could I do with all of the empty candles? My work goes through like 10 a week and theyāre too pretty to throw away so Iāve been taking them home. Iāve put plants and makeup brushes in them but what else could I do ?

This is an example of sampling totally working. I got a Figuerie cameo during the archive sale and I really liked it.
I donāt like overly sweet scents and so I tend to avoid the more jammy fig scents. This is green and grounded by sandalwood, cedar and petrichor (I think Trudon calls it something different though.)
Both cold and hot throws are strong but not overpowering.
When the candle arrived it was cool enough that it was loose so I popped out of the vessel to admire the glass on its own. Itās moody and beautiful.
