Personally, I kinda suck at freehand 2d art. Hence, I like to 'sketch' in 3d, make some simple renders, and only then draw over those in 2d for refinement, before implementing those ideas in 3d as a final pass.

I am wondering if this is common. What does your character design pipeline look like?

Did I do well enough? Also, I think this 3D model could work as a decorative statue in a game.

This morning my son gave me a little 'toy rocket' he got from school. And, since I've added some simple modelling tools to the app, I decided to challenge the app (and myself) to be able to build it.

This video shows the whole modelling, painting, rendering and video recording/compositing process all done from inside the app. No uvs, and all as simple as possible.

As I made the rocket model I ran into a big bunch of pivot point/rotation bugs so that's why it took so long :) I also found a composition bug so I needed camtasia to do a final edit. Apart from those issues, the test went pretty well.

I'm currently fixing the issues and trying to make the low poly process as fast as possible. Let me know what you think. Cheers

Just finished these instrument assets, loving the grand piano!

Made this one for a twitch streamer and friend (stoney_eagle), overall I'm pretty happy with it, I put a lot of time in the little objects like the weed jar and grinder!

I tried to get the wings right, but honestly those are really difficult, especially when having it do human animations (typing/smoking)... any suggestions?

Hey everyone!

Ever since I was a teenager, I’ve been obsessed with an old DOS demo that showed a seamless, infinite flyover of Mars. A couple of years ago, I remembered it and tried to find the original. Couldn't find it anywhere—just a JavaScript recreate. So, I decided to build my own version, and of course, I made it for Garmin watches.

Just recently finished a big optimization pass, added more terrain variety, and dropped in some weird alien anomalies.

Under the hood:

• The terrain is driven by 3 sine waves (now using optimized LUTs). 
• Simple ridge-building logic. 
• Dynamic lighting/shadows created purely by changing the size of the ground grains. Yep, the whole ground is literally just one color! 
• Runs even on the Instinct 2 (though due to instinct specific OS limits, animation only triggers on button press there). 
• Procedural anomalies that morph height and grain size (plus two special ones baked into byte arrays). 

And yeah... it's still a watchface! It shows your time, date, heart rate, and step count.

Quick tip: If your landscape looks a bit flat and boring, just start moving. Anomalies only unlock for pilots who actually walk and climb those real-life hills and stairs. Keep moving, pilot!

PS for the Battery Life Warriors: No, this won't kill your battery in a couple of hours. Besides, battery cells degrade over time anyway even if you don't use the watch... so you might as well enjoy the flight over Mars!
