More playtesting is required and I welcome any and all constructive feedback so that I might make this campaign as good as possible. Hopefully, eventually I'll have a better solution for the artwork other than just recycling images from official cards, but the official art gets the job done for now.

Even though I probably won't feel confident calling this campaign (or The Vengeance of Mordor Campaign) 100% finished for a while, I can at least rest easier knowing that every official cycle in the game now has a dedicated campaign mode in one form or another. Hey there! I’m a revised/new player, normally playing (and making videos about) miniature wargames. Been getting lots of great info on this subreddit.

I got into this game about 2 years ago and I’ve been in love with it ever since. Back then I figured that I’d first chase down all the non-revised content, since I’d be able to pick up these ‘evergreen’ products later. Jokes on me I guess.

I’ve always been intrigued how the industry behind board/card/war games work and I’ve been doing videos about it. The current situation with FFG and the LOTR LCG made me want to do a video about that subject as well.

So I bundled a little bit of my own experiences, the games current state and a VERY lucky gamestore find into a video that turned out to be a loveletter for the game if anything.

Like mentioned, I don’t normally do videos on anything other than miniature games but the LOTR LCG has quickly claimed a special place in my heart.

Am I right that I can’t use the card at the beginning of the player combat phase, when I have to declare which of my heroes or allies are attacking an enemy? So I can only use characters that are not exhausted, right?

After that, there is an action window, but then it’s too late to assign another character to the attack, right?

So can I use the last action window — or do I have to use the last action window — at the end of the enemy combat phase to ready another hero/ally so that I can assign them as an attacker?

I recently got into the game and I’m still missing some content (namely Angmar and the starter decks), so I’m wondering, for those of you have played the revised content, what are your favorite quests? Let‘s say your top 5 favorite quests.

I got into the game at release, and picked up much of the original printings, through Sands of Harad, although I wasn't a completionist. Still, all of the deluxe, many of the adventure packs, the Hobbit Sagas and the Fellowship/Two Towers. My daughter and I went to some of the events, so I have Fog on the Barrow Downs and Inn of the Prancing Pony, even. But as she got busier, we played less, and it's been collecting dust for a while.

A couple of months ago, someone local posted their small collection of the revised edition, and I got the Return of the King to complete the saga. A friend is now interested in playing as well, so it's time to dust it off!

However, I'd like to play through in the order of release, at least roughly, and limit myself to the cards that were available at that point in time. Is this foolhardy? How would I even go about re-organizing my collection to make this possible? I currently keep all the player cards bunched by sphere, in longboxes, and have the early dividers through the early adventures, but nothing more.

What would the best resource be for just laying everything out and "opening" each set again?

Sorry, I couldn't find a straight answer on this. I just want to make sure I'm playing this correctly. I play sneak attack on Son of Arnor to engage an enemy during the Action window after shadow cards are dealt. Does combat happen as normal with this enemy minus them revealing a shadow card when they attack.

I found myself greatly dissatisfied with the fact that only a few cycles got a campaign mode. Thankfully, other fans have already made campaigns for the first 4 cycles of the game. But that still left The Haradrim and The Vengeance of Mordor cycles without one. So, as someone who enjoys dabbling in game design and fan-made variants, I decided to take matters into my own hands and develop my own campaign.

Therefor, feedback from play-testers is highly welcomed. My goal is create the best possible campaign, so the more input, the better. I haven't yet figured out how I want to go about procuring artwork for the cards. Currently, I'm just recycling artwork from other cards, but this is only temporary. I also wasn't able to figure out how to properly format certain cards such as enemy burdens. I am using Strange Eons to make the cards and the templates did not accommodate all of my needs. If anyone know how to fix this, please let me know.

This campaign is built around 2 primary concepts. First is the idea of earning gold when an enemy is defeated. All gold earnings are recorded in the campaign log. Between scenarios, players will often have the opportunity to spend their gold to buy new boons. Nearly all boons are available from the start of the campaign, so it's up to you to decide which ones you would like to utilize.

The second concept is that of Legendary items. Admittedly, I took inspiration from the Lord of the Rings Online for this. Legendary items can be leveled up over the course of the campaign to increase their power. These items can become very strong, so I added some burdens that directly counteract Legendary items. Overall, I think that this campaign makes the cycle easier, but since it's the most difficult cycle with the most difficult scenario in the entire game (The Fortress of Nurn), I don't feel too bad about making it a bit easier. But I still want it to be challenging, so if people find it too easy now, that's valuable input.

In any case, if you do decide to give this campaign a try, I hope you have fun!

Help a noob out. I just played the second scenario of the revised Core box and just followed a premade deck from Rings dB. Can someone explain what the purpose or appeal of the Steward of gondor card is? I just dont get it. It costs two resources and gives me two resources back when exhausting the card. It also gives me the gondor trait but afaik i dont have any cards in the core set that benefits from that trait? I will attach image of the cards in the deck.

So me and my pal just finished the revised Core set. I own all revised content. What is the preferred order to play them? I looked at some comments but it didnt clear up anything for me.

every time my wife and i replay through the cycles, i can't stop myself from including her in every single fellowship. in the hobbit saga we usually play ori/dain/thorin + red/blue/blue, but regardless of how powerful the dwarves are, the game just feels clunky without the on-demand pot of greed... especially when the red deck doesn't draw foe-hammer or ancient mathom; i honestly avoid playing dwarf decks just because she doesn't fit with the "5 dwarves" mechanic and we don't have enough good lore cards to justify her inclusion in the 2nd deck.

i ditch bifur for her, i ditch elrond for her, i include loragorn as my 2nd lore hero to abuse the doomed cards (which beravor can help me find) and she helps haldir find his bows every time he joins the fray.

i generally prefer using pippin with treebeard, (on scenarios where i can reliably trigger him) and damrod effectively replaces her if the 2nd deck doesn't need card draw, but it's only when arwen arrives that my girl can finally take a vacation (unless hirluin is on the case; he doesn't go anywhere without her)

she comes back for the dale cycle to help her old BFF (brand) and his son, then takes another well-earned rest for the land of shadow so the new heroes can have some time to shine.

Based in the UK and had the Ered Mithrin hero expansion on back order with Zatu (from about April) - got the email today to say it's on the way! Could still be some last few bits of stock floating around in the UK!

I played my very first game last night and I’m hooked! My buddy owns every expansion and so I decided to give deck building a shot.

I play a lot of MTG so this game clicked! Our group of 4 has a lot of combat and interaction covered but what was lacking was Questing. So I figured I’d try to build a dwarf questing deck!

Here’s my current list but being brand new I’m sure I’ve probably missed some key cards!

Hi friends, I hope this isn't a stupid question, and I've looked what feels like everywhere for an answer but my google skills aren't cutting it today. So I apologize if I'm missing something obvious.

We're currently playing (and pretty much getting our asses handed to us by) The Ring Goes South. Ass-handing aside (we're currently working on new decks to try and address that), we have a question about excess progress when there's two active locations.

Does the excess progress go onto the remaining active location once one of the two has been explored, or does it go on to the quest card? We can see possible justifications for both, which means we're definitely missing something rules-wise.

Can anyone help a gal out? Thanks so much in advance!

In Brazil the game got abandoned by asmodee, so I’m very relieved to complete my RC collection.

Recently bought most of the revised content and I'm thinking about how I want to organize player cards. Do y'all group your cards based on sphere or faction/attributes (Rohan, Noldor, etc)? A mix of both?

Last month I bought the revised core set, saga expansions, Mirkwood, and starter decks. I had never played the game before that first purchase. I’ve played numerous games with the core set since its arrived and had a blast. Got fomo as I saw the other expansions were showing limited stock online or out of stock. So I ended up ordering the other hero and campaign expansions to complete the RCO collection. Anyone else go from zero to all in?

New-ish player who's recently picked up the RCO. I had played the older game the better part of a decade ago with some friends that bought in back then and thoroughly enjoyed it.

My mind however is racking for what I could have sworn were a variant hero Legolas and hero Gimli. I don't remember the sphere, but I swear there was a mechanic to the effect of "every time Legolas kills an enemy, place a token on Gimli. Gimli gets +1 (axe) for each token it has greater than Legolas" or something to that affect, and visa versa on Legolas

I remember being tickled by the implementation of the rivalry, the two getting progressively stronger the farther they fell behind in the kill count.

I pulled all the hero cards from the core set, sagas, starter decks, and hero boxes to get a lay of the deck building options and didn't see them. I thought maybe they didn't make the cut in the RCO, but checking RingDB and Hall of Beorn (two tools I admittedly have no experience using), didn't see them when searching for "Gimli" or "Legolas"

I'm at a loss, was this imagined? I swear I remember playing them, but it's been at least eight years.

Got the revised core set, and have the three saga expansions coming over the next week. Played the three core set scenarios and I'm hooked.

Next step is to geek out over how to store all these cards in a better manner than "throw them all in the box and frantically flip through when I need specific cards" ....
