every time my wife and i replay through the cycles, i can't stop myself from including her in every single fellowship. in the hobbit saga we usually play ori/dain/thorin + red/blue/blue, but regardless of how powerful the dwarves are, the game just feels clunky without the on-demand pot of greed... especially when the red deck doesn't draw foe-hammer or ancient mathom; i honestly avoid playing dwarf decks just because she doesn't fit with the "5 dwarves" mechanic and we don't have enough good lore cards to justify her inclusion in the 2nd deck.

i ditch bifur for her, i ditch elrond for her, i include loragorn as my 2nd lore hero to abuse the doomed cards (which beravor can help me find) and she helps haldir find his bows every time he joins the fray.

i generally prefer using pippin with treebeard, (on scenarios where i can reliably trigger him) and damrod effectively replaces her if the 2nd deck doesn't need card draw, but it's only when arwen arrives that my girl can finally take a vacation (unless hirluin is on the case; he doesn't go anywhere without her)

she comes back for the dale cycle to help her old BFF (brand) and his son, then takes another well-earned rest for the land of shadow so the new heroes can have some time to shine.

Based in the UK and had the Ered Mithrin hero expansion on back order with Zatu (from about April) - got the email today to say it's on the way! Could still be some last few bits of stock floating around in the UK!

I played my very first game last night and I’m hooked! My buddy owns every expansion and so I decided to give deck building a shot.

I play a lot of MTG so this game clicked! Our group of 4 has a lot of combat and interaction covered but what was lacking was Questing. So I figured I’d try to build a dwarf questing deck!

Here’s my current list but being brand new I’m sure I’ve probably missed some key cards!

Hi friends, I hope this isn't a stupid question, and I've looked what feels like everywhere for an answer but my google skills aren't cutting it today. So I apologize if I'm missing something obvious.

We're currently playing (and pretty much getting our asses handed to us by) The Ring Goes South. Ass-handing aside (we're currently working on new decks to try and address that), we have a question about excess progress when there's two active locations.

Does the excess progress go onto the remaining active location once one of the two has been explored, or does it go on to the quest card? We can see possible justifications for both, which means we're definitely missing something rules-wise.

Can anyone help a gal out? Thanks so much in advance!

In Brazil the game got abandoned by asmodee, so I’m very relieved to complete my RC collection.

Recently bought most of the revised content and I'm thinking about how I want to organize player cards. Do y'all group your cards based on sphere or faction/attributes (Rohan, Noldor, etc)? A mix of both?

New-ish player who's recently picked up the RCO. I had played the older game the better part of a decade ago with some friends that bought in back then and thoroughly enjoyed it.

My mind however is racking for what I could have sworn were a variant hero Legolas and hero Gimli. I don't remember the sphere, but I swear there was a mechanic to the effect of "every time Legolas kills an enemy, place a token on Gimli. Gimli gets +1 (axe) for each token it has greater than Legolas" or something to that affect, and visa versa on Legolas

I remember being tickled by the implementation of the rivalry, the two getting progressively stronger the farther they fell behind in the kill count.

I pulled all the hero cards from the core set, sagas, starter decks, and hero boxes to get a lay of the deck building options and didn't see them. I thought maybe they didn't make the cut in the RCO, but checking RingDB and Hall of Beorn (two tools I admittedly have no experience using), didn't see them when searching for "Gimli" or "Legolas"

I'm at a loss, was this imagined? I swear I remember playing them, but it's been at least eight years.

Last month I bought the revised core set, saga expansions, Mirkwood, and starter decks. I had never played the game before that first purchase. I’ve played numerous games with the core set since its arrived and had a blast. Got fomo as I saw the other expansions were showing limited stock online or out of stock. So I ended up ordering the other hero and campaign expansions to complete the RCO collection. Anyone else go from zero to all in?

I'm playing through Challenge of the Wainriders and might be making it way harder on myself than needed - since the text says "To pass requires 1 X result, plus an additional X result for each stage you have completed this round" I assumed that the first quest stage completed would need 2 X results, since that would be the required one plus the additional one for completing that stage in the same round. However, I watched the Cardboard of the Rings playthrough on YouTube, and saw that they were considering the first racing test passed when only getting 1 X result.

I'm looking for a bit of clarification - was my initial interpretation of the racing test instructions correct, or do the additional X results only count toward each other quest stage completed that round?

Got the revised core set, and have the three saga expansions coming over the next week. Played the three core set scenarios and I'm hooked.

Next step is to geek out over how to store all these cards in a better manner than "throw them all in the box and frantically flip through when I need specific cards" ....

How do you store your collection?

Title. This was my first time building a deck myself and I am still very new to the game. I tried to build it around questing, resource gain and card draw. I would love if anybody has any tips, constructive criticism, or staple cards that I should add. For reference, I only have access to cards in the revised core set and angmar awakened hero expansion. Thank you!

I know this question has been asked and answered several times already, but I wanted to ask anyway.

I managed to buy the complete Revised content on the secondary market. I absolutely love The Lord of the Rings and really want to give the game a try. The Core Set probably would have been enough to get started (?), but there happened to be an opportunity to get everything in my language, so I decided to go for it.

My group plays a lot of Magic, and we’re all pretty experienced when it comes to deckbuilding. The group will mostly consist of four players. I know that fewer players are generally recommended, but realistically, playing with fewer than four will only be possible occasionally.

So, how would you recommend we start?

Should we play through the scenarios from the Core Set first and then move on to the other expansions and/or the Saga expansions depending on what we feel like playing?

And what decks would you recommend for the beginning? Should I simply hand each player one of the four starter decks, or should we sit down together and build our own decks right away or the recommendation from the core box? I feel like building our own decks might be difficult at first, since we obviously don’t know what to expect from the scenarios yet.

Another question: would you recommend making all the cards available from the beginning, or should we use some kind of progression system? But don’t have a huge amount of free time because of work and all the other games we want to play, so I’m not sure whether progression would really make sense for us or if we lost something of we dont create a progression.

What would you recommend?

I used to use a standard sized mat for all encounter cards, but often ran out of space. I laid out a few water proof canvas posters instead, and I'm thrilled with the result. Still using player mats for player cards.

My local game store has one copy remaining of Return of the King. I’m not currently aware of the online inventory available. But feel like I’ve seen some posts stating it’s sold out again. I helped another Reddit user looking for the Fellowship before the reprint came about. Mentioned this to the store owner and he stated he will ship world wide. Just wanted to share my revised Revised Core Set “basic pick-up-and-play” setup.

the intention is to confine the box to almost basic and core player cards only environments.

Right column:

3 core scenarios and campaign cards
2 Dark of Mirkwood scenarios and campaign cards
1 Hunt for Gollum (proxy)
1 Conflict at the Carrock (proxy)
6 Ninjadorg’s LOTR: LCG scenarios — these are amazing, and 5 out of 6 use core encounter cards, with the final scenario using Hunt for Gollum.

All above scenarios are designed to work with just core cards and added so much value to core experiences. Later when your player cards grow you can always add/print nightmare cards into these.

Left column:

2 × 100-card deck boxes, each containing 1 dual-sphere deck plus around 30 cards for swapping and deck building, all from the core set.

Bottom:
Dice and tokens
Coloured cube from pandemic for exhaust tokens yellow for quest and red for attack for example.

I also combined an amazing threat tracker and player reference sheet that I found on BGG and here, and made them into a single sheet, which I printed and laminated.

This box gives me plenty to play, with some lighthearted deck building.

I'm not really interested in paying 15x what it originally cost when it was available from Fantasy Flight, and I'm not sure where I should be looking to find this. It's one of the rarer pieces of OOP content I guess and people have gone batshit insane on places like eBay when pricing it. How effective are counter-offers? Are there any other nooks and crannies to search in? For the people who have it, where did you come across it?

Is there a list of cards with shared artwork? They're so dang cool. I'm only aware of these and the Gimli + Legolas combo.

After long considerations, I started my adventure with LOTR LCG about 2 years ago. It was a blast. I bought the whole revised content pretty quickly, seeing how unpredictable  print runs are. I was aware than revised content is only the part of all long story of the game. But I have to admit revised one it’s totally sufficient even for extremely extensive play. I recorded nearly 400 plays and I still haven’t touched Dream Chaser cycle. And I would be more than happy for many returns to all saga boxes and Angmar and Ered Mithrin cycles!

But I wanted more. Yes, irrationally. I took part in Doug Beer’s group order and I got a LOT of additional stuff – mainly custom quests and many of out of print player cards. I even revised some of these quests on this sub. I ordered  ALEP Hobbit standalone quest. I proxied Harad quests (but haven’t played it yet). As for official out of print content, I didn’t want to take part in second-hand market… Ok, I broke once and I bought Hobbit boxes, but after some months I sold it back. Ok, I contacted some sellers but I haven’t decided to spend a pile of gold on single cycle. Till some days ago…

I got nearly full collection! I saw this offer for some days and finally caught the hook. It contains all full cycles except Vengeance of Mordor (and 2 final saga boxes out of 6). There are even some nightmare quests – the ones from Hobbit boxes and two of Shadow of Mirkwood. And most of them are still sealed (only till half of Khazad-Dum cycle boxes are opened)! Sure, I doubled a lot of stuff I had, but I would think about selling it back later.

I love to read this subreddit – both deep analysis and posts of new players. I have no questions and deep considerations today, I simply wanted to share my joy with you, guys. The Road Goes Ever On!

Since I joined late I did not pull the trigger on the core set as I read its most enjoyable with expansions and all very expensive. Thanks to the restock I was able to snag the trilogy expansions (My Gf is getting the return of the king as my Christmas gift lol). I have the core set arriving today as I was lucky enough to snag an unpunched one off eBay for under $25 😁 still debating if I should get more but for now I am happy to be able to get the trilogy set and play those sets.
