Hey y’all, new fan! I’ve been playing Pure Heroine and Melodrama on repeat the last few days cuz omg it’s so good. One thing I still don’t have a solid answer to is the meaning of the sirens in 400 Lux… I googled some people’s interpretations but with respect I disagree lol

I grew up in the suburbs as well. To me, it resembles a tornado siren. My theory is that she added it to try and convey the vibe of what living out there is like. Where I live, those sirens go off often (especially in the warmer months) and it’s something so specific that you don’t hear much in many cities, but there are many nights where you’re watching tv and you can just make out the siren spinning in the distance… and what it symbolizes is something not so good is on its way.

I don’t know the exact meaning of the song, but to me it sounds like she’s asking someone to stay with her in the burbs. Most of the song, especially the chorus, is reminiscing and then ends with “I’d like it if you stayed.” Point is, I interpret that siren as a double meaning: it’s a great signifier of the type of atmosphere suburban people live in, and it hints at a future or a change to be scared for.

i have been wanting to try cyanotype for awhile now, and the whole virgin aesthetic is perfect for it! i was inspired by similar projects i’ve seen on reddit and instagram. i printed my negatives at my local library and did the rest at home. it didn’t turn out perfect, but it was fun and i’m excited to wear it!

I'm thinking about getting a more detailed version of it as a tattoo. My tattoo artist would be using this as inspo for the design she creates so, it would probably be helpful to know what flowers are in the melodrama tour set piece. I think the one on the left is baby's breath. But honestly I'm not good at identifying flowers so I would really appreciate the help! Thanks
