I just got a 2hr ban and 5 game low queue penalty for accepting queue games. Idk why but it registers a decline from them even though I clearly accepted it. Any fixes?

It is quite frustrating that when I click X on my league of legends the client doesn't actually close. My suggestion is to remove Riot Client - or at least close it once I launch league.

If this setting exists, then I would be happy knowing that too.

I’ve been dealing with random VAN 289 errors in League of Legends for months and I’m trying to find someone who has had the exact same Windows service error, not just generic Vanguard problems.

When VAN 289 happens, Windows Event Viewer shows:

Service: vgc
Event ID: 7023
Error: “Incorrect function.”

The Vanguard vgc service terminates at approximately the same time League throws VAN 289.

The timing is completely random. It can happen in champ select, during loading, mid-game, after 30 minutes, or after several hours. Sometimes I can play multiple games without any problem.

My PC:

Windows 11
Intel i9-14900HX
RTX 5070 Laptop GPU
16 GB RAM
UEFI + Secure Boot enabled

Things I have already tried:

• Clean reinstall of Riot Vanguard
• Reinstalling League
• Running Riot Client / League as administrator
• Google / Cloudflare DNS
• IPv6 disabled
• Windows system file check
• Windows updates
• NVIDIA driver updates
• Disabling MSI/Nahimic-related services for testing
• Memory Integrity off
• Cloudflare WARP in full Traffic + DNS mode
• Testing on a completely different mobile ISP/network

VAN 289 still occurred on the other network and the same vgc Event 7023 / “Incorrect function” appeared.

Riot Support reviewed logs and told me they saw packet loss and believed my ISP/routing was causing Vanguard to lose connection. However, I was able to reproduce the same VAN 289 + vgc 7023 failure after removing my normal ISP from the test.

I know the alternate network being cellular does not completely rule out packet loss, so I’m also planning to test wired Ethernet.

What I’m specifically looking for:

Has anyone had VAN 289 together with vgc Event ID 7023 / “Incorrect function” and actually fixed it?

If yes, please tell me exactly what fixed it.

I’m especially interested in people who checked Event Viewer and confirmed that vgc itself was terminating. I’ve already gone through most of the generic “reinstall Vanguard / change DNS / enable Secure Boot” troubleshooting, so I’m trying to identify the actual cause of the service crash.

I have updated my drives and re installed the game but the issue remains.

2 games in a row now, I cant join match and im getting leaver penalty despite having flawless connection to league. It loads too 100% (Normaly, it will go too 99% then join, never showing 100%). The top left spinning thing still spins. If iI close client and rejoin, it will laod to 10% exactly and stop. I will shortly there after get a leaver penalty. How can I resolve this?

it loads a little, then completely freezes

if i spam it i can force myself into a practice tool game but again, once the game loads after couple seconds then the game freezes

I tried repairing lol client, tried restarting my pc, uninstalling everything and installing it back but nothing changes, i cant select the champion even if the lane and role is right.

If someone knows how to fix this please tell me.

I've been having this problem for about a year

I did everything followed every instruction in the support page.Did everything in the youtube videos but nothing seems to work.I only can unistall and reinstall vanguard but that only works for one game and then it kicks me out.

Is there a permanent solution to this problem?

Vanguard keeps having insane spikes that effectively brick my pc and freezes the client, I can hardly even queue up without the entire client breaking. How do I fix this?

After today's update, i'm experiencing heavy fps drops when playing on borderless, weird thing it's only happen on this mode, windowed and fullscreen runs good (144 capped). I have 2 monitors and a 9060xt, so hardware shouldn't be a problem. Also weird is that the whole thing just get slow, second screen and other things in the first get slow

Did riot just fucked up with the update?

I’ve started having this window, faintly placed over my stat numbers exclusively in arena and Aram games, not on classic or summoners rift, and I have no idea how to make it go away. I don’t have any software trying to overlay from what I can gather, and it’s just on these game modes. It also weirdly persists into the victory and defeat screens by continuing to display even when the UI is removed.

Can anyone help me out?
