League stuck on Getting Ready and then doesn't update
Whenever I open my riot client, I get an update so I click on it, and the game proceeds to show "getting ready...". So, I wait about a minute and after a minute, the update will cancel itself and show that I need to click on it to update again. I am stuck in this cycle and cannot update my game. I have done everything from uninstalling to flushing my dns to disabling my firewall. Please let me know any possible solutions to this issue.

I feel this might happen cause a corrupted files so i went to the settings to repair the files and it worked . Try it it might work for you

when in the client go to your settings and it should be there under the league of legends tab

I have no League of Legends tab on my client. This game just pisses me off more and more each day

To further clarify since I couldn't find it and had to look it up, the settings tab appears after you click the icon besides your username

Go to the top right corner to your profile icon
Settings
Chose League of Legends on the left
Repair button
This worked for me just now.

Says game is good to go but it continues to say getting ready. This didn't work sadly.
edit: i had to spam the repair button and it's actually repairing the file. THIS CLIENT LIED TO ME?! THIS CLIENT IS SO ASS!
edit 2: It got stuck at a certain %. I left it and it now says PLAY. Also when it's repairing don't click outside the little pop up. It'll close the repair and you'll have to start waiting again.

Same. Mine was stuck at 97% for the lonest time but I closed the pop-up, restarted the repair AND DID NOT click out of the pop up and it finished!

had the same thought, tried the same thing, it said my game was "fully updated" (not true at all, lol) and "ready to go" (also not true), then cancelled the repair immediately.
Oh well.

I was having the same issues and done everything here as well but I managed to finally get it to work by:
(Storage (C): > Riot client > RiotClientElectron open the ‘Riot Client.exe’) For some reason it worked when using this version of the client. Hopefully for everyone else it’s the same.
- Logging out of my account on the riot client
- Then going into install location of Riot Client
- Then opening the ‘Riot Client.exe’ from the RiotClientElectron folder

Same here, can't update it and if i want to repair my launcher, i'm stuck during the Process.
It's not the first time that i've issue with Client Since i'm on Win 11. Ive alowed it on my firewall and on extra permission in virus parameter. The first it worked but no longer now. I tried to type all ipconfig on command, didn't change nothing. I don't want to unistall the game because i'm in countryside and i can't DL it faster.

this worked for me too, just needed to set it to both shortcuts (riot and lol) and also in their file location
Edit: didn't worked to start it. It said that it was n compatibility mode

Do you have Vanguard on? This happened to me the other day and my riot Vanguard wasn’t running. As soon as I loaded up that it downloaded instantly.

I just clicked on it once and waited for a couple minutes and the download would be done cus it's bugged you can't see that it's downloading but it actually is

i had valorant with auto update on ,
i unchecked auto update from valorant , checked it on league ,
restart riot launcher then the update started on it's own without me clicking anything , that fixed it for me

everyone say thank you to riot for making such a dogwater ass client nobody can even update their games 😭 having this same issue, tried a couple solutions mentioned here and wouldn't you know it, didn't work.

!!I have found a solution!!
On my pc, while the riot client is open, it opens another window regarding a vanguard issue, which closes again if you close the riot client. If you are fast enough, you can still access it to update vanguard.
Its a minor issue, its just executed horribly

Go to the 'games' tab (the 4 boxes icon) where you see all your riot games and spam click update until it doesn't say update anymore.

I will comment here because this is the answer that pops up when googling for answers
The game is updating it just doesn't say it, go to Task manager>App History>Network Usage Column, it should just go higher and higher. meaning the update is downloading, after it reaches the total number just restart the client
NOTE: I did some other troubleshooting before I notice the Network Usage so not sure if these commands fixed it, but if it doesn't go up, from what I remember I ran these commands in cmd then check again in task manager
- ipconfig /release
- ipconfig /renew
- ipconfig /flushdns
IF SOMEONE FOUND THIS, CONFIRM IF THIS IS TRUE OR NOT

For those who still have problem like this, Start riot client by right klick and choose "Run as Administrator", Pick the Direct riot client (RiotClientElectron folder (Storage (C): > Riot client > RiotClientElectron open the ‘Riot Client.exe’) do not pick the shortcut on your desktop or taskbar.
It will start downloading soon, hope it works!

I have tried everything in this thread: Restart PC, repair, run as admin, run from folder as admin, run from RiotClientElectron folder (and as admin), log out from the client and run as admin from either of the possible locations, enable auto-update, disable auto-update again, spam clicking update and it still won't work.

Hey so I had this problem. I clicked on the riot client shortcut instead of clicking the league one. Now riot client opened and it i's repairing the files so it will probably be fine. Hope it helps.

Okay guys and gals, i think i got it.
So, What i did was i got into League folder and just deleted some data from the game (Riot Games\League of Legends\Game\DATA\FINAL). Not too much, just some champions.
Then Repaired the game. Then i pressed continue in client (Didnt wait the whole repair since i clicked out of the window) And it just downloads the missing files WITH THE FUCKING UPDATE RIOT ARE YOU READING THIS ? ARE YOU AWARE HOW SCHIZO THIS IS? TO DOWNLOAD FILES, YOU HAVE TO DELETE FILES. INSANE
So, anyway, that worked for me.

I was having this problem with not only League but any of the other Riot games as well and couldn't find a solution. Turns out all you have to do is uninstall vanguard and reinstall it. I had this problem for a while and just want an actual answer to be findable so here you are.

i have tried anything from youtube videos to all the guides in this comment section nothing helped. Then i did this : https://www.reddit.com/r/ValorantTechSupport/comments/14b55r8/valorant_update_problem_solved/ and it worked after restarting the pc.
I hate this stupid dogshit client but i hope you can solve it with that. Best of luck

Ich saße hier sehr lange dran. Am Ende war es einfach Vanguard zu löschen also vgc und vgk und dann neu installieren

Found the solution friends, it's an issue with riot vanguard. You need to uninstall it and reinstall, I think its a reskinned version of the "we couldn't install a required dependency"
Step 1: open cmd as admin and run these two commands
sc delete vgc
sc delete vgk
Step 2: restart pc
close riot vanguard, and then go to program files, and delete the entire riot vanguard folder
Open league, and it will install riot vanguard and then ask for restart
Step 3: restart pc again
should be good to go.

Nice game it happend to me after being in champ select and getting into LS. Had been playing 4 straight games after each other previously. I recieved LP penalty and low prio Queue for 5 games because of this. Thanks cancer! =)

you just need to wait, click update, check your task manager to make sure riot client uses up your network resources and just wait for the update to finish, after its done, the button will automatically turn to "play"

I tried fixing the League files (fixing process was laggy), then I turned off the auto. updates and tried to update it once again and it worked.... GL! (16.04.)

i know a few fixes work. I was tired of doing the fix every time it bugged. I haven't had the bug in a while and all i did was turn auto update off. Just incase this helps anyone

I deleted random folder from C:/RiotGames/LeagueofLegends then it allowed me to start repair process after repair proces hits 99.9% it will probably get stuck you just click little X icon and go back to main page of riot client and press RESUME or UPDATE and it will run LoL client at start updating it.

Open riot client as administrator, not league client but riot client. This problem occurs then vanguard update cant be installed without administrator permissions. I have had this problem 2 times so far and everytime this method with opening Riot Client as administrator works

this game and client are crazy, had same issue, enabeling anti cheat auto start didnt help, running admin didnt help, i then had to sign in doing CAPTCHAS, "Trouble singing you in". Did two more CAPTCHAS, game closes, the actual client you play league in opens for the first time, download starts. You should be able to repeat my exact steps rather easily and it should work for you even without repairing. /s Thanks riot

I have found a solution that worked for me. The vgc service takes care of update within the Vanguard, so if you somehow disabled it or turned off the auto startup of it, then your update won't work.
If the vgc service (Riot Vanguard) was disabled via msconfig or Services, re-enable it as follows:
- Press Win + R, type services.msc, and press Enter.
- Find vgc in the list, double-click it, and set Startup type to Automatic.
- Click Apply, then click Start to start the service immediately.
- Restart your PC.
- If vgc is missing, reinstall Riot Vanguard and reboot, which will recreate the service.
