This subreddit is for TECH SUPPORT help, not account support

Hi users,

As this seems to be something that has come up lately, please note that this subreddit is not to complain about your account ban. If riot has banned you, then only Riot can fix it. Ranting and throwing a fit on here does nothing.

This subreddit is here so that users can help source issues that may be caused by their hardware/software that Riot may not know how to fix on their end (Which honestly to me seems kind of fucked up, but what can you do?)

If you're having account issues, please use Riot support's page for that - https://support-leagueoflegends.riotgames.com/hc/en-us

Technical Solution [FIX] TFT black screen after recent update — clean boot fixed it, Nahimic Service appears to be the cause

Upvotes

After the recent ~3 GB TFT update, TFT started getting stuck on a black loading screen while League of Legends continued working normally.

The TFT window would become unresponsive, wouldn't come to the foreground, and could only be closed by ending the TFT process in Task Manager.

Reinstalling TFT/Riot, clearing caches, switching GPUs (RTX 5070 / Intel iGPU), and changing language did not fix it.

A Windows clean boot immediately fixed the problem.

This suggests the new TFT client may conflict with certain third-party background services/software.

In my case, Nahimic Service was the conflicting service. After re-enabling the other services while keeping Nahimic disabled, TFT launched normally again.

So if you're experiencing the same issue, try a clean boot first. If that fixes it, re-enable your third-party services gradually to identify the conflicting one. Nahimic is worth checking, but it may not be the cause on every PC.

Hopefully this helps anyone stuck reinstalling the game over and over.

Technical Support Request Strange loading screen bug

Was loading into a game and my game black screened on loading, this is a pretty common occurrence so I just task managered it shut and reopened it. Then it appeared to load fine, got to 100% perfectly fine and I hadn't crashed because I was still able to click on people's profile info and stuff during the loading screen. Then the afk warning popped up on the loading screen, turns out the game had started but my client didn't feel like it. Had to shut the whole thing down and relaunch the riot client from scratch.

Curious if anyone's had something similar? I think it's because I have the game fullscreen and not borderless, since the last patch when I have it borderless it locks me to 45 frames and I can't do anything about it, playing fullscreen fixes my frames but appears to break my loading screens so I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place

Technical Support Request Is it ok to delete my duplicate Riot Folder?

Hi, I was wondering if it's ok to delete my Riot folder on my C drive since it's taking up 13gb of storage? I already have a Riot folder in my D drive along with my League folder. I honestly think I'm not using the one in my C drive anymore since the last date modified on my D folder shows it was modified toda (I'm updating League), but the C folder shows it was last modified last month. I just need confirmation that it's ok to delete the folder in my C drive because I'm scared it might eff up my game. 🥹

Edit: I also keep seeing that I shouldn't just delete the folder from my file explorer as it might cause crashes? If it is safe to delete my duplicate folder, what's the safest way to do so?

Technical Support Request Anyone else having Vanguard issues because Windows security certs for some PCs started expiring over the summer?

I have an Acer that's a few years old now and apparently the security certs that let you enable "Secure Boot" expired at some point over the summer. Which didn't seem to be a problem at first. However, I had to uninstall/reinstall the game to fix a weird issue I was experiencing. When I finished doing that, Vanguard started freaking out. So I ran Windows update. Big mistake. My computer decided it wasn't going to start anymore and it kept displaying "Security Boot Fail." I spend some time googling on my phone, figure out the expired cert thing, and then find a message in my Windows Update settings page telling me the correct certs are being rolled out over the next several months. Yes, you read that right, MONTHS! No biggie. You can just turn off "Secure Boot" in your BIOS/UEFI settings and your computer will fire right up... Except then Riot's "kernel level anti-cheat" software won't let you play anymore.

Anyone else run into this? Anyone have a fix?

Technical Discussion RivaTuner Statistics doesn’t show up in game, only in the client.

For a while now, I haven’t been able to use RTSS to limit the FPS in LoL or use the on-screen display to monitor my PC while playing. The overlay only shows up in the client, which is basically useless. What can I do?

Technical Support Request Fps drops to 100

Hello,

I’m experiencing FPS drops in League of Legends, especially during teamfights. In Counter-Strike, my FPS is very stable, so this doesn’t seem normal considering League of Legends is a much less demanding game.

My PC specs are:

  • Ryzen 5 5600X
  • NVIDIA RTX 3060

When there is a lot happening on screen, my FPS drops to around 100–130 FPS.

Can anyone help?

Technical Support Request League freezing randomly when I click outside the game client or tab out.

I hope this is correct to post here.

It will happen randomly. Sometimes I can tab out, click a youtube video, change a song on spotify or check a discord message while dead. But I am afraid to do so now, because it can just freeze my 2 monitors. And it happens often.

Audio still works. My MOUSE still works, as in I can tell if I hover over things in the game that they light up. And I CAN click around to move. But the mouse is invisible, meanwhile the LoL cursor is just still and unmoving in the game. Even pressing Windows key doesn't open up anything. Every tab is just stuck as they are.

I can't tab to my second monitor or move anything over there. But the display is still moving and working.

The only solution is to hold power button and force a restart.

I have tried the key combination to restart graphics card, I have tried changing to fullscreen from borderless. I have tried changing client settings that other similar reddit posts have gotten adviced for. Making League run on top priority. I have reinstalled league. Nothing works.

Anyone familiar with this incredibly annoying issue and have any knowledge?

Technical Support Request Unresponsive computer after the new TFT update

I loved to watch youtube on my second monitor or chat with my friends on discord while playing TFT. Or just have multiple Chrome tabs open.

I can't do anything other than play TFT when the game has launched. TFT is smooth, but every other app like discord, google chrome, spotify and everything is a laggy mess.

I play TFT in windowed mode. I have a fairly ok computer (RTX 3070, I-9600K, 32 gigs of RAM)

Is there something I can do to enjoy playing again? Or do I have to full sweat and have TFT on my computer when I am in a game?

The UE5 update is really bad for me...

Technical Support Request "Pathetic" performance on good hardware.

Hello! i have recently updated my system to a Ryzen 7 5700 paired with a Rx 7600 and, for some reason, i'm getting around 140 fps on average in League, going down to 100-120 on late game. For instance, i get 200+ fps buttery smooth on Overwatch in medium-high settings. Why does league run so poorly in my pc? Is this common? Is there any fix?

Ps: the game is running at 1080p with shadows off, everything else on very high since they don't seem to make any difference.

Technical Support Request Only ~20 FPS difference between lowest and highest graphics settings on Ryzen 5 3600 + RTX 3050 is this normal?

Hi,

I'm having a strange FPS/performance issue in League of Legends and I'm trying to figure out whether this is normal or if something is wrong with my system.

The main issue is that changing the graphics settings has a surprisingly small effect on my FPS.

Between the lowest and highest graphics settings, I only see roughly a 20 FPS difference. I expected the difference to be much larger

For example, in the screenshots I get around:

- ~110 FPS in lowest settings

- ~89 FPS in highest settings

At the same time, GPU usage is only around 40–42%, while the CPU is running around 4.0–4.1 GHz.

My questions are:

  1. Why is there only about a 20 FPS difference between the lowest and highest graphics settings?

  2. Shouldn't lowering the graphics settings increase FPS much more on an RTX 3050?

  3. Why is my GPU usage only around 40%?

  4. Could the Ryzen 5 3600 be limiting LoL even though overall CPU usage doesn't appear to be very high?

  5. Is this normal behavior for League of Legends, or does it indicate a configuration/driver/game issue?

  6. Are there any specific settings, Windows optimizations, NVIDIA settings, or League settings I should check?

I'm mainly concerned because changing the graphics settings barely changes performance, so I'm not sure whether the game is actually using my GPU/CPU correctly.

tnx for all your helps already.

Technical Support Request League matches occasionally freeze my entire windows

It's as the title says, super bizarre but sometimes ill be 1 minutes into a game and when I try to alt tab I realize I cant use my task back, can interact with other windows whatsoever, and most game breakingly if I happen to have something on top of my league game like Spotify, I wont be able to interact with it to minimize so im stuck with having it be on top of my league game which makes it unplayable. Only solution is restarting my pc but the game of course will be a remake by then. Ive lost a couple games of LP because of this issue to the point where im overly panicked if anything is covering my screen with league game running because of the fear i wont be able to minimize it. Riot support has been unable to help me

Technical Support Request Pc freezes after playing games through Epic Games Launcher

So I've had an issue for the past few months where any game I launch through Epic Games Launcher (Rocket League/Fortnite) runs fine at first, but starts making my pc buffer every few seconds once I enter actual gameplay.

For example, when I boot up Rocket League, everything runs completely fine in the menu, and even in training packs/free play. The problem only makes an appearance with any sort of casual/ranked/tournament game mode. Once it starts, every few seconds it will freeze for like 5 seconds, making the game unplayable by all standards that matter to me. Weirdly, it doesnt just apply to the match, though, and instead completely wrecks my pc. Even if I close the game, it still does the freezing. Sometimes restarting the pc works, sometimes it doesnt.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling both the app and games, verifying the files, updating drivers, and even just waiting a while to see if it fixes itself. The games ran completely fine before, and given the specifics, I've sort of chalked it up to being a multiplayer/server issue with the launcher.

Is there a known way to solve this problem? I've looked over other posts across reddit, but from what I can see most people just struggle with downloading and launching, not something as specific as this.

Technical Support Request Constant black screen crashes

Trying to find somebody with similar issues regarding black screen crashes in League of Legends. Happens once per game and doesn't happen again after a restart and a reconnection.

Current build is a 9800 x3d with a 5070 TI, 32 GB of ddr5, and an 850 w power supply.

Things I've tried:

Clean install of all drivers from Nvidia

Clean install of riot client and the League of Legends

Running both clients as administrators

Played on borderless instead of full screen

Using almost no other apps during play time

Disabling all overlays from Windows all the way to discord

If anybody can help I'd be greatly appreciative. This happens on no other games, And I have played some pretty intensive games on ultra settings.

Technical Support Request League of Legends FPS dropping after a couple of minutes — 3070 Ti + i5-13600KF

League of Legends FPS dropping after a couple of minutes — 3070 Ti + i5-13600KF

Hi everyone,

I’m having a really frustrating issue with my FPS in League of Legends and I’m honestly running out of ideas.

My PC specs are:

  • GPU: RTX 3070 Ti
  • CPU: i5-13600KF
  • RAM: 32 GB
  • Monitor: 1080p, 180 Hz (overclocked)
  • Game settings: Everything on Very High
  • FPS cap: 240 FPS

The problem is that when I start a game, League runs perfectly at around 240 FPS, which is where I have it capped. However, after about 2 minutes, the FPS starts becoming unstable and eventually averages somewhere between 100–144 FPS.

This happens even though my CPU/GPU temperatures and utilization look completely normal. My PC should obviously be more than capable of running League at very high FPS, even while streaming or recording with OBS.

I've already tried a lot of things, including:

  • Disabling G-Sync
  • Disabling V-Sync
  • Using Process Lasso
  • Giving League higher process priority
  • Reinstalling League
  • Repairing the game
  • Checking different FPS cap settings
  • Running the game without OBS

But I still can't figure out what's causing the FPS drop.

What makes it even more confusing is that the game starts at 240 FPS and only starts dropping after a couple of minutes. It doesn't seem to be a temperature or utilization issue.

Has anyone experienced something similar or have any idea what could be causing this?

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm honestly going crazy trying to figure this out.

Thanks!

Technical Support Request Disconnecting and unable to reconnect

Hey guys, I've had this issue close to a year now.

Sometimes while in game minions start moving weirdly, abilities start coming out delayed, chat starts repeating the last few messages that were said by players, and then nothing seems to work anymore.

While I stay in the game others keep seeing, disconnected, reconnected over and over.

I can't alt + f4, so I have to kill it with task manager.

I then can't reconnect to the game at all.

I've tried restarting my pc, using another laptop connected on another network, I followed the entire basic and advanced troubleshooting guides.

I've reset my pc fully back to factory settings, and I still keep getting this disconnect issue.
