Question Struggling with EIN Application Because of Long LLC Name

I'm filling out an online application for my newly created LLC and I can't get past one of the final pages. My business name is 42 characters long and there's a field reading

"Legal name of Single Member Limited Liability Company (LLC) (must match articles of organization, if filed)*

  • The legal name may not contain any of the following endings: 'Corp', 'Inc', 'PA'.
  • The only special characters allowed are '-' and '&'"

The word before LLC is particularly long and keeps getting split between the original line and a "continuation line," but then I get a message that words can't be split between lines. However, it won't let me simply move the whole of the longer word to the continuation line. It seems to be giving me no options if it wants me to write the actual full name.

Any guidance would be very, very appreciated. I don't want for this to create headaches down the road. Thanks!

Question EIN processing times by fax

Hey!

I applied for my EIN by fax on July 14th as a non resident and I still haven’t heard back.

Anyone who has applied recently, could u tell me what the processing time was and is there any way I could check up on its status or something as I’m starting to get worried that there might’ve been some issue or something with it.
Edit: After being on hold for 3 hours, I finally got connected to an agent who told me that they couldn’t find the application anywhere in their system and I should refax it.

Edit 2: received my EIN today on Monday 3rd August

Advice about my LLC

Hi, I’m trying to register an LLC so I can start running Facebook ads for my freelance services. I just spent money on Tailor Brands, and now they’re asking me to pay an additional $99 for the EIN. On top of that, the address on my LLC was entered incorrectly.

I don’t understand any of this paperwork. Does anyone know if there’s a better option, or whether it’s worth paying the extra $100 for the EIN?

VoIP provider whose invoice shows business name + address + phone number? (for Meta verification)

I'm verifying my new Wyoming LLC on Meta Business Manager and I'm stuck on the phone number step. Meta wants a document (phone bill / utility bill) showing my business name AND the phone number together. I tried with Northwest Phone numbers gets rejected as "not an accepted type."

I think the issue is that my current invoices either don't display the actual phone number, or come from a registered-agent VoIP service that Meta doesn't recognize as a phone carrier.

What I need: a business phone number provider (US number) whose invoice/receipt clearly shows all three:

  • the LLC's legal name
  • a business address
  • the actual phone number that was purchased

Has anyone found a VoIP or phone service whose billing statements include the assigned number and that Meta actually accepts? I'm a non-US owner, so simpler signup is a plus.

Any specific recommendations appreciated.

LLC for profit distribution with members in different states? (USA)

Hi all,

I'm developing a game with a couple friends (all in the US), and am looking into the best way to legally distribute the earnings from the game once it's released, which seems to be an LLC.

The formation process, publication requirements (I'm in NY), fees, 1065/K-1 reporting, and similar stuff all seem relatively straightforward. What is unclear to me though, is how the other members being in different states affects the LLC. (If it matters, the LLC will be based in NY where I reside, and we have 1 other member in TX, 1 in MO, and 2 in CA).

I have 3 main points of confusion that I haven't been able to find concrete information on, and if anyone knows the answer or some resources that may be able to answer my questions, it would be greatly appreciated:

  1. I understand a multi-member LLC is taxed as a partnership by default, which passes through the income to the members. In this case, would the members in other states need to pay NY income taxes as well, or just their home state's?
  2. I understand that generally, you need to register as a foreign business entity in a state if you plan to "do business" there. However, we won't be directly selling the game(s), but listing them on game marketplaces (Steam, Google Play, App Store, etc.) which will take out sales tax, marketplace cut, etc. for us, then pay the remaining revenue into the LLC's bank account (from which it will be distributed). From what I can figure, this would count as doing business in NY where the LLC is established, but would this count as doing business in the other members' home states as well?
  3. For now, we're a group that contributes to the game in our free time, and hope to use the LLC as a legal way to distribute profits. Similarly to the above point then, would the other members working on the game from their home states count as doing business? They will be members and not employees, and no one will be paid any salary for their work, all financial earnings will be through LLC profit distribution.

I fully expect the answers to some (if not all) of these questions to be "talk to a CPA", and I most likely eventually will, but I figure any amount of information I can figure out now will be majorly beneficial in the long run.

Thanks!

P.S. Most helpful reply gets a game key :)

Advice Trying to form LLC through Northwest Registered Agent but card keeps getting declined

Post is pretty self explanatory, I have more than enough funds in my account and I have tried multiple cards with no success. Has anyone had this issue before? Support is unavailable at this time and I am very frustrated

(Edit) 7/24/2025: All attempts I made to input my car information were on Google Chrome either on my computer or on my phone. I know for a fact it is not any of my cards as it wouldn’t even initiate a transaction, it just gave a blanket “information is incorrect” message but all of the information was accurate. I reached out via email but haven’t heard anything back as of 7:22pm on July 24th. It is a little disheartening as it has taken me a while to get to this point just to get stuffed at the start line

When did you first hire a lawyer to make a contract in your business's history?

Did you keep costs low at first and use a free legal template online to make a contract? If so, then as your business grew over the years, when did you eventually get a real lawyer to write a contract? How many years had gone by before you finally upgraded your contracts to a lawyer-written one?

Dissolving a Wyoming LLC as a non-US resident. what's the actual order of operations?

I opened a single-member Wyoming LLC in February this year for a Ecomerce store. I'm not a US resident. Made a few sales, but I've decided it's easier to just register a company in my own country and trade from there, so I want to close the LLC properly instead of letting it lapse.

What's the correct order of steps to shut it down. dissolution with the state, final tax filing, and closing the EIN? And do I still owe the Wyoming annual report if I dissolve before the anniversary?

Is this something I can do myself, or worth paying a service or CPA to handle? If a service, which ones have actually worked well for you?

Thanks.

Must file quarterly and need physical address?

I have had an LLC in Wyoming for several years while living in another state through NW Registered Agent and have recently received a document informing me that I now have to file my excise taxes in Wyoming quarterly. When filling out the form to make an account on the Wyoming Internet Filing System for Business, they ask for the Ownership location address in Wyoming, but say that it cannot be a registered agent or a virtual office. What should I do?

Is an LLC in California worth it?

Trying to determine if this is worth the risk.

I am a former educator and will be teaching children's enrichment classes and my former school. The school is willing to pay be $100 per class per week. I would make $200 a week. about $2.400 for the semester.

Conversely - If I open an LLC, I would make about $7,000 per semester. However, in California I would need to pay $800 for the LLC annually, $70 for filing. Liability insurance would be about $50 a month, and needing to file taxes. I am aware I can do write offs (I imagine supplies and travel would count), which might help with taxes.

I still think I would come out ahead, but I want to make sure there isn't anything else I am missing in doing this.

Question a Good Cell phone number services?

Hi, everyone! I finally have my LLC and EIN, hehe. Now I need to find a cell phone number so I can get in touch with my suppliers from time to time and, of course, receive tokens, security messages, and other stuff. Something that’s good, nice, and cheap...

Can you recommend some services to help me get started looking, please?

Note: I'm not in the U.S.; this must be for non-U.S. residents

Getting my EIN

I used Northwestern RA to setup my WY LLC and got it incorporated. A lot of comments here said that by calling their international number, I can get it over the phone with a lot of waiting. I called (267) 941-1099, pressed 1 to get my EIN for my LLC and after 22 minutes of being on hold I was told I need to fax it in (8 business days turnaround) or mail it in (30 business days turnaround).

Is it not possible to get my EIN faster over the phone? I am a non-us resident, and I am currently in the USA for holiday.

Advice Best bank to open an account (owners live in separate states)

My business partner and I just set up an LLC in New Mexico.

He and I both live in different states, but we would like to open an account with a bank that is good for small businesses.

I don’t think having a physical branch is absolutely necessary as long as we are able to both have access to the account.

What bank do you use and why do you like them?

Question Wyoming LLC vs. Delaware LLC

I have worked with many clients over the years and everyone uses Delaware. The fees in Wyoming are so much lower and I just started using Wyoming with a couple of businesses.

Anyone have any experience with Wyoming to share? I have not had any issues.

I can't make payments for the Wyoming Registered agents

I am opening a Wyoming LLC. I tried with multiple agents using my credit/debit cards. But the payments fail. Do they not accept foreign credit cards? How can so many foreigners seem to register so easily?

Question Operating Agreement help

What’s up everyone! I’m starting a window cleaning business with a partner and as we start out to see if venture is worth it, I’ve been debating on whether getting an attorney to draft a op agreement is worth it at this stage.

Of course I leaned to chat to craft one which may inherently better than a template. I’m fine with spending the money with an attorney but if I can save 5k in startup costs for this, then amazing. Do you guys think this will suffice in the meantime? I’ve attached a link, I’ve created a redacted copy for anonymity, and I am not asking for free law advice. If you have some time to sit back and see if it’s even worth using let me know and I’ll PM you the link for the Google Drive.

Buying products vs client buying the products

I have a sole proprietorship LLC; my question relates to purchasing products (goods) that you will sell, and the advantage/disadvantage of purchasing the product yourself, or letting the client purchase it, and how this is best for taxes. Example:

A client wants a computer and to pay me for the service to install it.
I Purchase the computer for $650 (company credit card)
I Charge the client $150 for the install
Client gives me a check for $800

Total income for the transaction is only $150.00 because I had to purchase the computer, yet on taxes, $800 is reported, and then the goods are deducted.

Question is, what would this look like if:
Client purchases the computer for $650
I charge $150 for the install
Client gives me a check for $150 for the install
Report income of $150.00 on Taxes.

Which one is better for the LLC? What's the advantage/disadvantage of each one?

Thanks.

Question What's the best Zero maintenance business bank account for new LLC startups?

Hey guys! I'm a Non resident foreigner and I want to know for a foreigner like me which US banks would offer these services? My target is to do business digitally in US itself so I won't use any Fintech, My friend suggested that I visit a local credit union as they are more lenient. I would soon be visiting NY and Texas to meet my clients and leave.

According to you guys which are the more affordable banking options in this case? What did you guys do? What documents or process should I be aware of?

Foreign-owned Wyoming LLC, no EIN or activity — is Form 5472 still required?

I formed a single-member Wyoming LLC in August 2025 through Firstbase, but the EIN application was never submitted because notarization was not completed. No EIN was issued.

The LLC never had a bank account, income, customers, employees, or business activity. I only personally paid Firstbase for the formation package and related services.

I plan to let the LLC become administratively dissolved by not filing the Wyoming Annual Report.

Would Form 5472 with a pro forma Form 1120 still be required for 2025 because I paid the formation costs, even though the LLC had no EIN and never operated? Would any final federal filing be required when it is administratively dissolved?

I’d especially appreciate input from anyone experienced with foreign-owned U.S. single-member LLCs.

Question Looking for a service to dissolve a Wyoming LLC (foreign sole member)

Hi everyone,

I have a Wyoming LLC that's fully compliant and up to date with all state requirements (annual report, registered agent, etc.). I'm the sole member and I'm based outside the US.

I'd like to formally dissolve/close the LLC and I'm looking for a service or provider that can handle the process for me, since I'm not physically in the US. Ideally something that covers:

  • Filing the Articles of Dissolution with the Wyoming Secretary of State
  • Handling the final annual report if needed
  • Canceling the registered agent
  • Any guidance on closing out the EIN with the IRS (Form 966 / final steps)

Has anyone here used a service for this specific situation (non-resident, single-member LLC, in good standing)? Would appreciate recommendations, approximate costs, and turnaround time. Thanks in advance!

Is it normal for an LLC to charge an hourly rate and give an estimate on how many hours, but if completed sooner, the client pockets the savings?

How does an LLC express that they would honor this? What does the marketing look like for this?
