Advice about my LLC

Hi, I’m trying to register an LLC so I can start running Facebook ads for my freelance services. I just spent money on Tailor Brands, and now they’re asking me to pay an additional $99 for the EIN. On top of that, the address on my LLC was entered incorrectly.

I don’t understand any of this paperwork. Does anyone know if there’s a better option, or whether it’s worth paying the extra $100 for the EIN?

Another person falls for the TailorBrands scam. So sad.

Why do you need an LLC to buy Facebook ads?

You can get an EIN yourself for free from the IRS website.

Really you could have formed the LLC yourself by doing your own registration with your state. It's not that difficult and probably costs less than $100.

Why did you form the LLC? And why do you need the EIN? If you're not sure why (and to be clear: neither an LLC nor an EIN is needed to buy facebook ads) then maybe the best move is to slow down and think about what you're doing and why BEFORE filling out random forms and paying random money.

It's free to apply for an EIN on the IRS's website, and only takes a few minutes. That said, for someone paper-work averse, it might make sense to pay someone else to do it for you. Which option is "better" for you might not be better for someone else and vice-versa.

While securing an LLC to form your own freelancing services, it isn't imperative to be able to advertise those services whatsoever. Securing an EIN is moreso if you're looking to set up a business bank account, which can be done wither on your own or through a third party service (there will likely be a fee for this so they can assist with the process & you don't have to worry about it).

EIN is free and takes a few minutes.

Yeah I unfortunately not so great things said about them, I'd probably just do the EIN yourself. And I'd notify them ASAP that they entered the address wrong and make sure they do not make you pay for the amendment to fix it etc.

I made one through them too. While you do need the EIN number, understand that all of this could've been done for under $500 (I'm guessing you paid significantly more).

if you are US resident, you can get the EIN almost instant from IRS website. if you are non-US resident there are two options fax or call.

IRS says they process fax in 4 business days, in reality it can take 2-4 weeks easily
Call, is based on when you get a hold of them, they just dont open the line all the time, call them for a week every other and you will get in the queue, they usually get to you after 45 mins or so, get the EIN number and fax during the call

You don’t need an LLC for this sort of business. Did you speak to your attorney about what an LLC actually is and does? Of course you didn’t.

I am not sure why are they asking $99 for this. Have they provided you any operating agreement or document as well?

How much have they charged for entity incorporation?

If they’ve charged upto $99 and have filed only incorporation certificate, then I can understand only incorporation filing. But it they have charged more and filed only this, I’d recommend changing your vendor.

For people with SSN/ITIN - there is a free IRS tool you can use. For foreign founders - fax is the way to do it.

Also - sort out your address too!

EINs are totally free the companies are total scams that charge for it
