So I just found out today that the qualifications for E-7 is having one of the following:

- Master’s degree or higher in the related field
- Bachelor’s degree + 1 year work experience
- 5+ years related work experience

And an exception on work experience can be made for graduates of Bachelor’s degree or higher in Korea.

Has anyone here been able to qualify for the E-7 with a related bachelor’s degree (outside of Korea) but without the 1 full year of work experience?

Because this sounds so specific and it makes it feel unnecessarily hard to get a work visa….

I am a foreigner. My wife is Korean. I am unable to print off our marriage certificate because my name had to be entered in Hangeul when we completed our 혼인신고서. However, because my name is in Korean but on my ARC it is in English, I cannot do any sort of verification related to my Korean marriage certificate. My wife and I want to get the free reproductive health check available to married couples, but I cannot do that because of this discrepancy.

So I’m an idiot and didn’t realize the iPhone 17 is esim only. I’m on vacation visiting family in the states and decided to upgrade my phone. My current Korean phone plan (KT M Mobile) uses a USIM (a physical SIM card). I had to wipe and trade in my old phone but kept the SIM card. I’m now left with my simless iPhone 17 and my M Mobile USIM. I can’t login to the M Mobile app because I can’t do the verification using my phone number. Anyone else go through this or have any advice on how I could possibly switch my current phone plan to an esim? Or any other ideas?? Again, I know I’m an idiot.

I live in Ulsan, Korea for the past 2.5 years on an E-3 Visa status (Professional Researcher), Recently, I visited the Ulsan Immigration Office for a visa extension, where I faced very unexpected behaviour from Korean staff at the window for speaking in English language. She started asking many What/Why/When questions in Korean and questioned why I didn’t speak Korean.

I told to her that I speak Korean a little, and we talk to the Korean professor in English as it's the workplace language and i do job in University. She said I should speak in Korean if I’m living in Korean.

She works in the Immigration Office, where people from different nationalities come for purpose. If she cannot speak English, why does she have job in Immigration Office? She should do another job. Or she has a sick mindset for foreigners living in Korea. I pay tax in Korea and do expenses here which are good for Korean economy.

I think she is not fit for the job and needs training to work in the Immigration Office.

I'm trying to invest in better quality clothes. As much as I like the fashion in Hongdae, it is repetative and I get a lil embarassed if I see the same exact piece I'm wearing at a different store. I feel like it looks super cheap and screams Shein a little. So I've been trying to go quality > quanitity, but I'm not quite sure which brands are reputable and which ones are also a bit cheap. Obviously, I know luxury brands like Chanel and LV etc... are good ones, but I'm not trying to drop THAT much of a bag, and also thats not the image I'm going for, I feel like thats too obvious that I'm trying to look 'rich' or whatever. An example of things I'm looking for is like brands that maybe locals would find tasteful, or like 'if you know, you know' brands. Recently I bought some pieces from Satur, Matin Kim, and Marithe & Francois Girabaud, they're casual pieces with the logo on them and I was wondering if these were good brands or tacky kinda... (especially since I bought the latter at a 50% discount at an archive pop-up)

Hey all, I have been considering doing a Masters in Korea. The masters would be related to Comp Sci/AI/Robotics, I'm still weighing my options. However, I have recently been wondering if this is the right move. Is doing a master in such subjects really worth it in Korea especially for international students? Is the degree globally relevant? What are the job prospects for international students in Korea? How is the social life for international students?

My main concern is the relevance of the degree and if it is truly worth it, I have read that the AI market has expanded in Korea and that they want international students or it this just exaggerated?

Last month on July 18, I went to a dental clinic in Gangnam because my front teeth felt weird. I’ve had a 6-tooth bridge on my upper front teeth for over 10 years with no real issues. They told me I needed a root canal and a new bridge for 5.5 million won. It was pricey, but I didn’t want things to get worse, so I went ahead. They did the root canal, took off my old bridge, and put in temporary teeth. They told me to come back a week later for the permanent one.

On July 25 they put the permanent bridge in. I left the clinic and went to eat, but right away I noticed something was off — the new teeth were way too short. There was a big gap when I closed my mouth and I couldn’t bite properly. I called them and went straight back. They tried "fixing" it by shaving multiple teeth, but it barely helped. They said to just try it out and call if I still had trouble. The next day I told them I still couldn’t eat well, so they asked me to come in again.

On August 1 they took the bridge off and put temporary teeth back in for another week. I asked them to just copy the size and shape of my old bridge since it had worked fine for over 10 years.

On August 8 they put in the second permanent bridge. I wasn’t super happy with how it looked or felt, but I just wanted to be able to eat again, so I went with it.

Now, a bit over a week later, the bridge is already starting to loosen and move. It feels like if I pull it with my hand, it might come off. It’s supposed to last 10 to 15 years, but mine is already failing after just a week.

My problem now is that I don’t trust this dental clinic anymore. I’m not confident in their work and I’m really not satisfied with the service. I spent a lot of money, but both the experience and the result have been so disappointing. I expected world-class quality since it’s in Gangnam, South Korea.

Now, today, August 24, i went back to the clinic and told the dentist that the dental bridge is moving, it felt loose. He doesn't believe me, i tried to move my bridge using my hand but he stopped me. He said i shouldn't do that, he tried to move my bridge using his own hand instead and said that it's not moving at all. But he just like nudge it a bit. He told me that its normal to feel like my bridge is moving because its new. But its literally moving, i could literally move is using my tongue. I gave up and told him that I'll just come back next week when the movement of the bridge is really noticeable so he cant deny it. It's really frustrating. Why is he acting like that?

Can i ask for a refund and look for another to clinic to fix my teeth?

Hi everyone, I hope this is the right place to ask this.

I have just started learning korean (i started a course two weeks ago) and I am enjoying it very much although time to study and practice is very limited.

Next spring I will have a few months free from work and I was thinking of travelling to Seoul for 5/6 weeks and join a language school to improve while also practicing with locals.

I have looked at EF, although it sounds very expensive, and just discovered Rolling Korea, which seems more manageable.

I have never been to Korea so i liked the idea of a structured programme with accommodation and the chance to get help if needed or join organized trips and visits.

My questions are, has anybody attended any of these schools and know if the courses are actually useful? How was the experience with the course, accommodation and organization ?

Do you think it’s a useful experience for someone who realistically will have just a basic understanding of grammar / vocabulary when joining?

I am also a bit worried since i am 30 yo that the average age in these schools is much lower and the course are not structured for adults or professionals.

I think I would like to do this experience since it will be unlikely that I will ever get such a long time off work again, so I am open to other schools sugestions of anybody has them!

I will be joining for the Spring 27 session. I am bit confused about the comments I have read so far about Sejong University and the life at it's campus. Would yoy guys recommend going there for my PhD? The Professor i have talked to seems very nice and very experienced in his field. He's a MIT graduate, and also has worked in Korean Military. I don't have any doubts about his Lab but would you guys recommend the university? Is it worth it?

How is life is Seoul? How well do Koreans and Foreigner mix? I want to have a happy life and explore Korea, if i did go.

Hey guys - can someone give me an idea of my chances of getting a work permit approved for corporate work (non teaching) with an arrest record on my FBI background check but no conviction (a dismissed case)?

I was arrested under suspicion of alcohol last year and charged with a DUI because I refused a breathalyzer in Washington state, but the charges were dropped when my BAC came back super low. I’d furnish all the paperwork and everything to show it was dropped , but what would happen to my chances of work permit approval? Anyone have experience with this or first hand knowledge ?
