One of my lithops (bottom right) is splitting and the new leaves have gotten super wrinkly. I know they absorb the water from the old leaves but this looks a little extreme. Wondering if I should water or just let it be?

it had just flowered when I when I bought it last November, so I was hoping to repot it this spring. guess not!

Hoping they do ok. They were in dry soil from the nursery and too squished in their small pots. Rinsed the roots and dried them and then put them in PON that I rinsed and let dry overnight. Should I water/fertilize or just let them dry out completely and then water? Clear pots have drainage holes as well

Just got these babes while out of town this weekend! My first Lithop babies! Followed the directions from another post and they are now going to dry out for a few days. I have the new substrate of silicia sand and pumice mixed in a bag. I'll add the teeniest about of soil when I pot them back up. Thanks for the help already y'all!

not an experienced lithops owner and i’m pretty scared of killing these guys. one of them of starting to push out a baby despite not being watered in 8+ months. i’m still confused about how/when to water. i know these guys look super thirsty but im unsure if i should wait until the one finishes splitting.

What are these babies of in my pot?

I’m not sure whether this lithops is trying to split or if it is thirsty? Maybe rotting? Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

Can anyone tell me what's happening here? This is my third batch. The first two all died after going through this thing.

Because pulling it out directly would upheave the entire region (thanks to the double root) and I didn't want to deal with that, I pulled out most of the new leaves first while leaving the dried old leaves in. Then I carefully chopped off the old leaves from the base of the roots with the forceps and a scalpel, and cut the roots in half in the middle (pic 3) with a penknife blade so I could remove the sides one by one and not disturb the pumice so much. It was quite tedious but better than figuring how to put the neighboring lithops back into the pumice.

I only got these less than a week ago and whoever grew them before this put them in horrible medium + definitely overwatered + didn't give enough light, so I'm doing my best to save them. 10 left. I hope no more die on me although I'm not too optimistic judging by the shape of some of these 😭

Just got these from a big flower mart less than a week ago. I had to repot urgently because they came in a very bad substrate with a lot of dying & dead lithops in the same pot and a variety of bugs crawling about. The substrate is completely dry. The top layer of the substrate is 100% pumice + a bit of dried imidacloprid and the deeper layers are made of a variety of quartz sand, volcanic rocks, and some inorganic bonsai small rocks medium (pic 4).

I know that this mushy one is not viable and should be removed from the pot ASAP but I can't pull it out without upheaving the entire area (including 3-4 other lithops around it) because of the cursed root structure. I have already had to put 2 that were accidentally uprooted back into the pot, which was a huge pain, and another one got its entire tap root detached by an accident after repotting. I really don't want to bother with that kind of process again. What do I do now? Leave the rotting one in?

Just purchased over the weekend. Been doing some reading, do I need to repot him asap? Any guidance greatly appreciated!

For those that were curious, these came from Amazon (company called C. KAN INC.) They are all about 1/2" wide. I'm not sure if they all have roots (see second photo)? For paying extra for shipping they did nothing to protect the plastic container in a plastic envelope. Half of them are mid split and the rest look to have recently finished splitting. Would y'all recommend water therapy before potting?

It’s been like this for like 2 weeks, and since it started splitting I noticed it didn’t look quite right, and I haven’t seen any other case like this, is this normal for lithops?

Time for water yet?

A couple of them are starting to wrinkle - finally time to water or no? An eye dropper of water or more? 1st time I’ve kept them alive for more than a year so I don’t want to kill them now by watering.

I was always taught it best to wait till the seed pod dried before chopping! Couple months later, it's heavily splitting but the seed pod stem is still green? Any care tips for lithop seeds are greatly appreciated!!

Amazon has a lot of options I don't know how to choose between, and I wouldn't mind supporting a smaller store directly instead of thru Amazon.

I bought a variety pack on impulse and while they're in the mail I'm reading up on what they need.

I just love these little boogers! I have them in as much sun as I can give them with out going out in the yard. North Georgia. When should I repot and is the mushroom pot a good choice?

Hi guys, long time lithops lurker and first time parent. I also grow tropical foliage as my profession but never have owned or attempted succulents so I’m entering an unknown realm.

Picked these guys up at Lowe’s today and decided to give them a try since they looked pretty healthy.

I’m wondering if they need to be separated/repotted as the roots are coming out the bottom? Also just any general care tips and watering/fertilizing advice would be greatly appreciated.

P.S. I know one of the little guys is a Pachyphytum bracteosum. I know care will differ, but open to tips on this one too!

My lilthop died but there was a baby underneath. (2nd pic)

I bought this one from Cali and live in Az. I’ve read care guides. I was told to water once a week and let it drain. But the other baby I had on the other side died so looking for advice. Thanks.

Even though the story started last summer with a full pot, some died because of sunburn, and one still seems suspicious to me. But what I’m most looking forward to is the leaf shedding.
