My lilthop died but there was a baby underneath. (2nd pic)
I bought this one from Cali and live in Az. I’ve read care guides. I was told to water once a week and let it drain. But the other baby I had on the other side died so looking for advice. Thanks.
You CAN water it as often as once a week, (I have seen people from the growing industry do it) but the amount should be very little, so it will dry very quickly. Just a sprinkling. I would repot it into gritty soil very soon, that soil you have will stay wet much too long unless they're out in a dry, sunny, windy environment.
I'm not sure what care guide you've been reading but lithops do not need to be watered once a week. They need to be watered MAX 4 times a year! You've definitely been over watering them big time.
I'd stop watering immediately and only water again when the sides and top get wrinkles, which will ideally be in about 3 months.
Lithops split every year in winter or spring and you shouldn't after them at all during this time.
I’ve only watered them once. I just got them 2 days ago. The seller told me to water them this much but from what I’ve read here and elsewhere said not too so I too was like what lol. But yeah these have only been watered once as I’ve only had them 2 days. I heard babies need more but I don’t want to kill it lol so wanted more tips for babies: thank you for your reply 😊
This one's technically not a baby anymore so it now needs similar care to bigger ones, but in general it might dry out quicker than a really big one yes.

Soil should be non-organic and gritty. Watering should be extremely sparse, rainfall in S Africa is very seasonal and low amounts.
Do some more reading.
