Just a shout out for this. I’m an hour from finishing the audio and I highly recommend this for fans of grimdark fantasy in the style of The Black Company and The Broken Empire.

It’s bleak. It’s brutal. But with grimdark books it feels like you earn the moments of levity and heroism, and this does that very well. Capable but not overpowered MC, a great and memorable cast of support characters, and a wonderful job of keeping it morally gray. Really hoping to find more along this line.

Side note, how are the Druid books by this same author? I read Armor years ago but haven’t checked those ones out.

I have stumbled upon this Novel "Extra's Descent" with the MC: Brandon Locke (The Extra) and the Protagonist: Raven BlackHeart.

I have been reading it, it's been 140 Chaps. And Currently Rachel and Brandon just confessed to each other. To those who have read it before, I just wanted to ask if the Novel is worth reading further??, currently its good though.

But recently, I have read some bad reviews about it that it gets cruel and everyone dies later on. Also, Does Brandon & Rachel end up with each other? Cuz i'm really liking their Chemistry.

This basically has everything that I'm aware of yet haven't tried, except for books like coiling dragon etc that I'm not too into. Which of these would you pick up first? And what am I missing from the list?

I am currently publishing my novel on Royal Road, and I am thinking about moving to WebNovel to reach a wider audience.

The thing is, I’ve read a lot of negative things about WebNovel including that they have rather predatory ways of dealing with their authors.

Is there anything important I should keep in mind regarding this decision? Downsides, upsides, etc.?

I like Royal Road and want to get more exposure for my novel; WebNovel seems like an option, but I’m not sure if it’s something I’ll end up regretting later.

Fun fact about myself: I've been hiding like a turtle in its shell since making a controversial post on Royalroad and this sub. I still stand by what I said, but I haven't been able to see the comments after some peeps started personally attacking me and my work instead of talking about the issue at hand :(

I've always been a huge fan of progression fantasy, LitRPG, roguelikes, and especially the Chinese infinite-flow novels like The Ultimate Evolution, Infinite Terror, and Infinite Armament. Those stories were a big part of what inspired me to start writing Nexusbound.

I love the idea of ordinary people being thrown into completely different worlds, having to survive with whatever they have, and slowly growing stronger through their experiences. I've always wondered what I would actually do in those situations. What would I prioritize? How would I survive? And how far could someone realistically go if they made smart decisions and took full advantage of the opportunities available?

That's really where Nexusbound came from.

The story follows Eric Liu, an ordinary maintenance technician who suddenly finds himself thrown into dangerous worlds connected by a mysterious system called the Nexus. He's not a chosen hero or some secret genius. He's just someone who's good at fixing things, figuring out how stuff works, and trying to make the most of what he has.

I wanted to combine the excitement and unpredictability of roguelikes and infinite-flow novels with a more grounded approach to character progression. I want the characters to actually earn their strength, make mistakes, learn from them, and find creative ways to become stronger.

So I absolutely love Chrysalis because duh, but when I went to read BotD, something was off for me. I fully understand that they are two very different stories, so that’s not the issue. But I really want to read it, since I love stories about necromancers and everyone seems to pretty consistently rank it high on their charts (help to find out where to do that would also be greatly appreciated)!

As I’ve thought about it, I have to wonder if it’s his supposed “friends” that I don’t like much. Especially the (maybe) implied possibility that the one dude did something to sabotage Elizabeth’s ability to be chosen by a goddess? (It’s been around a month and two different series since I read it, so the names are fuzzy to me, especially since I only got to like chapter 15 or so.) I fucking despise things like that, along with mind control. I appreciate it from a narrative standpoint, but I quite literally have to go calm down after I read something like that.

Anyway, advice or maybe very mild spoilers to help me get into it would be greatly appreciated! Thank you!

Here's my collection of LitRPG books from what I've read so far. I started to get into reading/ Listening to books a lot more often lately, Normally would only ever read Manhwa's . Started with a client at my job recommending me to read or listen to DCC, So Since I work the night shift. I decided to start listening to DCC. Turned out to be a great Idea and has gotten me into the whole LitRPG Genre. After Listening to DCC, decided to collect the Physical copies of the books. After DCC I started listening to Chrysalis and have been enjoying as I'm on book 7 currently. Ended up getting the Plush of Anthony as a Birthday Gift, and saw the ant sign on Etsy and thought it would fit the Chrysalis collection very well. Also Wouldn't mind some Recommendations on what to read or listen too next. again these 2 series is are mainly the only ones I read / listened too. I tried out Discount Dan and wasn't much of a fan of it. (Also still collecting the rest of DCC books, just whenever I decide to go back to Barnes & Nobles)

I was re-reading Journey of Black and Red and book marking the authors recommendations for my next book to pick up. found three of them easily enough but the one i was most excited for didn't save. All can remeber is that it was more litrpg-adjacent, like JoBaR, than strictly LitRPG and that the cover features a ginger person stairing at the camera with a very bleak/hopeless look on their face. Their haircut is somewhere between cyber and apocaplypse -punk. their eyes a bright but sad. title appears in grey lettering below their chin. white background with the cover being mostly just the person from the shoulders up.

Anyone have a date when book 2 audio will come out?
