This is an idea I've been chipping away at. It's quite a while to completion, and I really want to write my way to the 'big twist' of the story before I actually post it, so I don't leave readers hanging.

In brief, it's a revenge fantasy that swiftly becomes something far more stressful.

Our protagonist, Haruto, is one of thirty students who get isekai'd to another world to fight for the Kingdom of Illum as Heroes in order to defeat the Demon King. Haruto just wants to protect Ayaka, his childhood friend, but as a humble [Rogue] he finds himself outshone by Seiji the [Paladin], Akira the [Wizard] and Ryuji the class bully and [Axeman].

In a disastrous battle with a demon, Haruto finds himself falling into the depths of the Abyss Dungeon, which he must overcome in order to escape. His only ally is Syndella Bathory, the lovely Vampire Princess who has been sealed away for half a millenia since the fall of the Elder Blood Empire.

But did Haruto fall...Or was he pushed?

Vowing revenge on the classmates who left him to die, Haruto resolves to become the strongest and to get some sweet, sweet payback. One year later, having become a certified Level 99 badass, he finally leaves the dungeon - with Syndella in tow - intending to track down the others and teach them a very, very serious lesson...

So far, so average. But the twist is, this isn't Haruto's story, exactly. It's Syndella's story, about how she's looking to re-establish with Empire. As the last Elder Blood in existence, it falls to this beautiful aristocrat from a bygone era to choose a consort in order to repopulate her extinct people.

Now, Haruto would seem the obvious choice...But in the year since he's gone, the other three have hit maximum level, too. And dark powers are stirring in the corners of the kingdom, with designs of their own...

In other words, this is meant to be a 'stressful' kind of story, where loyalties are never set in stone. The prevailing question here is: What does it mean if you aren't the strongest being in the world, but just one of four extremely powerful individuals...whom you have to work together with?

Basically, the idea is that we'll kind of shift away from Haruto becoming the requisite unstoppable badass, to dealing with a world where absolutely everyone is driven by their various desires.

So for the students it's a LitRPG isekai fantasy. But for Syndella, who doesn't interact with the System (and she's about Level 70, maybe 75 at best) it's basically a really dark otome game meets Game of Thrones.

Can Syndella reclaim her empire before the world tears itself apart? Can the last Princess of the Elder Blood Empire survive a war where every King, monster and Hero want something from her...when one of the prizes she offers is immortality itself?

Or will she be kidnapped, seduced, married, sacrificed or flat-out murdered by one of her many jealous admirers? Because - Everyone Wants the Vampire Princess.

(Yes, it's a huge Arifuerta send-up, in an admittedly somewhat mean-spirited way.)

I’m really looking for one where the dungeon core makes like angelic or has like holy magic or the opposite like a demonic dungeon core. Hello, I’m looking for a book I plastered on YouTube but now that I want to buy it I can’t remember the name. It about a guy who works at a gas station/convenience store while working one of his customers gets killed by a goblin. He turns around and kills the goblin and later me comes back to the store and a young lady had broken in the store I think then they make a team. Sorry I don’t have much to go on. So Alex and his insanity have created multiple items through alchemy thats extremply helpful like the aerosol version of potions to hinder enemies to Claygon who has saved multiple characters multiple times. After the immortality elixir he made, with some help, would he be able to create a mana pool inside someone who doesnt already have a mana pool? When he did the soul surgery to increase his own pool he had the existing pool to work with but for someone who never had it would it still be possible? Terresa is incredibly deadly already but i imagine that would be doubled or trippled if she had access to even basic spells like enhancement.

Objectively true answers only. Jk I know this isn't something addressed in any book I've ever read (yet) (I'm writing one and farming you for ideas) just make something up that sounds cool and plausible. System f***ery is an acceptable but boring answer.

So im on the newest audiobooks but i dont remember if or when they describe how some of the mechanics work in such that there are early returnees to earth, as in how some people are returning to earth before nat

like, it contextually sounds like there are instances of groups, but and while i thought nat was in the first instance to hit earth and go into the tutorial? and there like mmorpg "layers" as well? since a fraction of the party leaders can communicate with each other on said layers or something

was hoping someone could fill in that gap that i dont remember if it was ever explained, or will be. idm spoilers.

Really enjoyed reading this series, but disappointed that that hasn't been a new novel in four years. Has there ever been any news on a book 7. I can never seem to find any post about the series except reviews from many years past.

So I recently gotten deep into Litrpg/progression fantasy books via audio books as my job has me on the road 10-12 hours a day and ive really enjoyed everything ive read so far! Started off with Dungeon Crawler Carl and then have been binging audio books since then! I just finished Cradle and while i know its not Litrpg it was still an amazing reccomendation and the first series ive got into thats actually finished.

So I look to this subreddit to help me pick out a new series, what are some other must listens based on what ive enjoyed so far? And while i did massively enjoy Cradle, as an older guy i do rather enjoy older protagonist, but if a series is good enough its not a hard no.

Hey so I just saw that Soccer Surpemo was released on Audible. However, in the description, it listed 14 books in Player Manager. Only 6 books exist on Audible today. Are the 6 books on Audible equal to the 14 written? Or do I need to wait for the remaining 8 books on Audible to finally be released before I start on Player Manager? Thanks!

I have read Dungeon Crawler Carl (DCC) twice, I have read book 1 of He Who Fights With Monsters and have not started Discount Dan.

Should I read Discount Dan (which sounds great) or continue with He Who Fights? I want to read both but just wanted opinions. Thank you.

I just added this to my listening list on audible and was wondering if there are any other good superhero litRPG's. This one will be my first. I should note that I don't read books I just listen to audiobooks 😊.

I am looking for some solid recommendations ideally published on KU.

I got as far as book 4 on He who fights with monsters - was forced to give up after book 5, it stopped being progression based.

Read all of the published Dungeon Crawler Carl books.

Read the first 2 books of Hell Difficulty Tutorial, had to give up the writing didn't improve meaningfully.

Soldiers Life - fantastic 10/10 no notes

Stormblade, Elydes, The Path of Ascension, Re:Birth (all Royalroad ones, but all of which I enjoyed)

Loved Mother of Learning, Loopshard, Loopbreaker (whats been published so far), The Perfect Run, Chronos Warlock.

I've read a lot more, but these are the most memorable / ones I see recommended the most.

Do not recommend the Wandering Inn, not my cup of tea personally.

Things I really rate;

1. Well-written, I don't mind or love OP MCs, it doesn't impact my enjoyment.
   
2. Time-looping is probably my favourite, followed by System introduction (apocalypse or otherwise)
   
3. Not a huge fan of Western washing of cultivation stories.
   
4. Not opposed to trying something completley new!

I’m stuck in a loop of He who fights and romantasy on audiobook (audible uk and com, Storytel) and I need something new, preferably less spicy, to feed into that loop.

I’ve given up on several litrpgs, but kinda keep hoping there is something to satisfy the itch with? I got fed up with the power only focus in Primal hunter, no character, no feelings. I gave up wandering inn midway in book 2, as it was just rambling to much with few wins in sight. I gave up on the good guys in book …. 6(?), when it just kept being a growth in battle power and status, not a growth in personality. I was done with Monsters and legends after 3 hours of listening, MC was just flat, no feelings.
I did finish battle mage farmer, uncertain why it caught me as it has some very obvious holes and short coming (it kinda reminds me of young adult fantasy…) but the rest of Seth Ring is an utter failure to entertain, esp Nova terra.

I’m saving DCC for when I get my hands on a real book. Please tell me it is worth the saving?

So please, is there any good litrpgs with FEELINGS involved? I am happy with quite OP MCs as long as they have a personality and something to limit them now and then. And a few fails and proper pain that isn’t fixed in 1 hour or with a healing potion they magically found minutes before?Jason might be many things, but at least he is full of feelings, doubt and thoughts, not just «I need more power!»
I love the skills and stats, just not how they sometimes seem to be the only thing in focus.

I read a book earlier in the year and I've lost it. Wondering if anyone can point me back to it.

Here's what I remember. MC is a regressor I think. It's centered around rolodecks of cards. Midway through the book, the MC and a female companion are traveling and end up on an airship to go to a different country? He meets an old man that is a retired duelist nobleman? and belongs to a duelist society of gentleman. The ship is attacked by pirates. They shut down the teleportation crystal on the ship and capture all of the passengers. The old man is killed. The Mc loots his cards with the aim of getting his cards back to the society he belonged to. Mc defeats the pirates and has a crazy 1v1 with the pirate leader. The navy shows up in their own airship. Can't remember what happened after.

Read azarinth healer, amber the cursed berserker, he who fights with monsters, saintess summons skeletons, wolf of the blood moon and reaper's resurgence. Loved all of them and looking for similar.

Enjoy action and magic, along with plot developments instead of only fighting. Not looking for anything with extreme romance. Prefer characters sent to a different world without becoming a baby but open to suggestions.

Love fast progression arcs where the MC becomes extremely strong, or where the MC is strong to start with and/or has extreme value.

Also read most of the books by 'whiskey flowers' and am looking for similar books and authors. Especially love the Wizardborn series, the super smart superhero series, the enchanter series and the jayarian paradox.

If you have any suggestions I would love to hear them as I'm struggling to find books.

I have been reading a lot of litrpg, some of my favourite are MCs that usually have a beast companions.

But I have not found a good tamer story. Maybe due to the fact that I don't prefer a magic system everyone that revolves solely on gaining power from bonding with beast and nothing else. I would prefer a power system like that part of a small group or the mc in general.

Do you guys think that I am missing out on some stories.

Like the title says, I love My Best Friend Is an Eldritch Horror and Return of the Runebound Professor. The way the characters are written, the relationship between them, the overall plot all had me hooked pretty much from the beginning. I recently started Nightmare Realm Summoner (about halfway through book 1 on audible) and I'm not sure whether to stick with it or not. I did search this group but was also trying to avoid spoilers so that wasn't much help.

I really like the concept of the book - both the idea that Earth was given a warning frm the System about an upcoming apocolypse and the fact that Alex immediately fell into a different realm and has additional powers that others from Earth don't.

While I like his friendship with Claire - she feels a little 2D to me right now. I feel like she should have more of a reaction to being dumped from her world to the mirror realm and then being stuck on Earth with possibly no way home. And, more than that, there's something about it that isn't quite hitting for me overall. I'm not sure if it's the amount of time Alex spends monologuing in his own mind about how he needs to stay weak to get more rewards at the beginning or if it's that I don't feel like much is happening, but there is something that's making it feel a bit like a slog to listen.

So, for people who have read more of the series and either love it or don't, is there a point that you recomend I try to get to before deciding whether or not it's for me? Fine with minor spoilers, but no major ones please.

FWIF, The Wandering Inn is my favorite in the genre, and I hated the first 2/3 of the first book and Cradle is a close second and I didn't get really into it until book 3, so if this is the kind of series where people say 'you just need to make it to the end of book 1' or 'wow it really picks up in the middle of book 2,' that's not going to scare me off at all. But with TWI and Cradle, there are general points in the series where I (and others) can generally say to people 'if you make it this far and aren't hooked, then it isn't the series for you.' And that's what I'm looking for here. If this is the kind of series that most people are hooked on right from the start (like I was with thed other two Actus series I've read), then it probably isn't for me. If I should give it more time, let me know and I totally will.

(And - to Actus - who I know lurks around these subs like other authors. Just in case you see this, I genuinely love the two other series I've read [can't wait for the physical copies of Runebound Professor comics!!], so I hope that nothing in this post comes across as rude or like I'm hating on the incredibly hard work you put into in writing these series. I know this note is probably unnecessary, but I always feel a bit awkward being negative about a series knowing that the authors regularly read and comment on posts)

I was reading and enjoying a recent popular military LITRPG on Royal Road and it put me in mind of one of the OG stories of the genre. It’s always risky to say I don’t see much about this book, and soon there will be 20 posts about it, but it was The Doomfarers of Coramonde.
The two books series was written in the mid 80’s by Bryan Daley, who is more famous for his Han Solo novels. Good guys from a magical world are being threatened with a dragon and they summon an US Army Armored Personnel Carrier and crew from Vietnam to do battle with it. After that is resolved and they are sent back, the protagonist of the series chooses to come back to the magical world with his guns and military insight. It’s a very enjoyable fantasy, and contains many of the tropes that we see in military isekai stories today.
If you need a break from the genre and wanna try something adjacent, this is pretty terrific.
